  1. What a great way to showcase your collection. Nice train MOCs too!
  2. I'm not a massive fan of Fabuland, so I don't normally comment, but I think most builders could learn a thing or two here about iterations. If you showed me the first version by itself, I'd have said "It's ok" - but the final version is a huge improvement. It shows how a MOC can be made better through spending more time on it. Almost every time when I build something for the first time I am not quite happy with it and it takes a few attempts to get it right. A very tidy piece of work. I like the black trim at the wheel area the best. Well done mate.
  3. Not startling work, but something I made before disassembling my jungle 'set'. There will be an article on Calvin's The Legoland Times soon so look out for that. Hope you like it and feel free to let me know what you think! (Pic is link to Brickshelf gallery (when moderated)) EDIT: I almost forgot to give credit for the idea for this to Eurobricks member xzanfr, thanks mate!
  4. B-V-7C Something a little different this time, a (fictional) rock band called 'Destructive Interference' visits my town. Look out for the associated article in Calvin's The Legoland Times which will appear soon. Enjoy! (Pic is link to Brickshelf gallery)
  5. I like this a lot. The park is my favourite, I think the stone benches are cool. I think you should do something about the crocodile infestation though!
  6. Fantastic trees by the way, the landscaping here is first class. Can't say I'm an expert on the American Civil War but looks pretty realistic to me (well, how I'd imagine it anyway)!

    Dung Mall

Great work here. Nice use of SNOT. I like the use of the brown arm to show the...doo...stuck to that guys shoe. And the lad next to him laughing is great minifig usage.
  8. Nothing particularly spectacular here, I've just had Photoshop Elements for a month now and had to try it out. Picture is link to gallery (when moderated).
  9. Superb work. It's good to see you with great attention to detail despite the MOCs impressive size (I particularly like the NO SMOKING sign)!
  10. Can I just add that your brick-built animals are all excellent and this is no exception! You are an inspiration!
  11. Thanks to all who have commented! I like seeing new things made in Lego, be in new topics, new timeframes or new building techniques. Hopefully I've contributed! LoL Well, I am history geek in my spare time! I love reading about history and the Aztecs are one of my favourites. It's a pity there isn't more torsos that really do them justice (most would need to be overlapping feathers, like chain mail, but with feathers). When I came out of my dark ages, I had a dilemma: what historical period to focus on? I loved the Aztecs but due to the lack of suitable torsos I felt there was other time periods which I could render more accurately and importantly use a lot of my existing collection (e.g. more modern torsos, WW guns etc). So I chose to do South Africa circa 1880. I have 180 Africoid minifigs just needing legs and these will be ordered in the next few days. You will see Zulus, Redocats, Boers, Askaris, Dhows, steamers, Indian merchants and middle-Eastern slave traders. This is a two year project so it will be drip-fed to you all over the next 2 years! Keep your eyes peeled! This is another project that to my knowledge no-one has attempted. Here is a teaser of a Zulu warrior (this is delibrately poor quality, I don't want to give too much away )... Thanks mate. I appreciate your own feedback because you go out your way to comment on every creation (so clearly you can judge the quality of a MOC). Haha! I was waiting for someone to ask that! Yes, I have seen Apocalypto, but it's not really directly based from that (maybe subconsciously)? Funnily enough, I was thinking of the film when I was about half-way between shooting the scenes. So to answer your question, yes and no. LoL Phes, was it ok to post this MOC in the Pirate forum? If not, can you see why I posted it here? I don't mind where it stays as long as you can see why I was confused! LoL
  12. It wasn't an easy task picking up the baton from the great Keith Goldman but this is fantastic! You certainly weren't intimidated! My favourite is the brick-built giraffe. The pith helmet on the chicken was brilliant - that made me laugh! Where did you get the brown legs with the blue bits on them by the way?
  13. Nice work Calvin. The crowd is excellent, the minifig variation is great. It seems like a plausable scene you'd see on the TV news! I liked the story to go with it on The Legoland Times. Great work!
  14. I saw this on MOCpages and my jaw dropped. So realistic, it's almost a sculpture. Amazing work.
  15. Well spotted mate. That was sharp! It was a mistake and it's now been fixed. Thank you. Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you liked it. The Aztecs have rarely been rendered in Lego so I think there is plenty of novel ideas. I was confused about what forum to put it in but hopefully the mods can advise (hopefully they will understand the reason it is in this forum).
  16. Sorry I haven't contributed much since I have last posted. I have been busy job-hunting! Anyway, enough of that... This creation is best viewed at MOCpages, due to the accompanying story. But for those that feel happier, there is also a Brickshelf folder. To entice you to view the MOC, the highlights include: 5 unique and never seen before Native American warriors; the first (to my knowledge) brick-built tapir; and a battle scene with heaps of historical research. What are you waiting for? Get viewing! Here is a teaser (and an excerpt from the story below it)... An aztec youth wearing cotton padded armour and armed with a while shield and a maquahuitl wants to be a hero and charges the chief, who backs himself into a defensive position in front of a tree. A similarly dressed youth armed with a spear goes for the bowman who has taken position just behind the tapir carcass. The Aztec commander, a novice warrior priest wearing the copilli conical helmet the Aztecs adapted from the Huaxtecs, makes the sensible decision to help despatch the dangerous bowmen first. PS - I posted this here instead of the History and Adventure forum because the Pirate forums description specifically mentions Aztecs. Mods, please let me know if I did the right thing!
  17. Thanks for the comments! He is their mysterious leader - more on him to follow...
  18. This is excellent. Good job!
  19. Sorry tedbeard, I didn't notice the Brickshelf folder was already there! There won't be a seperate folder appearing for Santa Maria so the way you have it configured now is great. Sorry for the confusion, and thank you!
  20. Just a brief post this time. Here is the pictures of the rebels who oppose the governement - their leader was the previous president of Legana before being deposed in a coup. They are nicknamed the 'Red-shirts', and hopefully why this is should be self-explanatory! The picture should be a link to the brickshelf gallery. Hope you enjoy it!
  21. This is excellent, I was expecting a similar type ending but you set it up well (that's the hardest bit!). I agree that the plane is nice too!

    Riot!

This is a neat little scene. It's simple but yet gets the message across (i.e. there is a riot going on). The use of flames at the explosion is impeccable and I like the zebra crossing. You also did well with your minifig positioning, well done! By the looks of things, they are made from two pieces - one is a black 'lightsaber blade' and the other is normally used as a lever (in dark bley though) in most of the Aqua Raiders sets. Is my analysis correct iamded?
  23. As usual Calvin, this is excellent. I love the use of the white fences and the chains - it makes the building quite imposing. The gargoyle is also a nice touch!
  24. I'd like to but I am too much of a perfectionist! Definately - but he creates the laws so he is unlikely to be heavily punished. It's sort of a one-party democracy if you see what I mean! Thanks man - I appreciate it. If you wanted you could make the link the brickshelf folder which can be found here. That way when it is updated people can see the most recent things. Is that ok?
  25. I'd like to thank all the nice comments so far, I am proud of this creation if I don't say so myself! I am glad you all like it too! I don't have any at present but the creation (not the backdrop, however) is still intact. I will take some pictures some time this week and post them for those who are interested. I agree with this. I had thought for some time about what to put at the front, do you have any suggestions? I tried to do something that wouldn't interfere with the swivel of the gun but couldn't work out what to do. If anyone has any ideas I'd be willing to try them, provided I have the parts of course! I think I shall, thanks for the link!
