  1. Nice work, I could almost see that ending coming but it still made me laugh nonetheless! Keep up the good work!
  2. Nice work, very funny! I like this a lot.
  3. A fellow AFOL who I am friendly with recently fell on a coat-hanger and his knee popped out of place! I built this vignette to cheer him up and remind him of the perils of untidied coat-hangers! I thought it was appropriate for the TOWN forum because of the interior of the bedroom shown, there may be a few ideas there for others. Feedback is desired.

    Gift Island

Nice work mate. I really like the tackyness of that shop, it really reminds me of any seaside gift shops I've been in. I look forward to seeing this with your full seaside display! Keep up the good work!

    My city

I like this. It's very compact and you've done well considering the limited space. When I see the pics of some of the buildings near the edge of the display my heart is in my mouth as they look like they are about to fall off! I agree with Eilif's comment but I'd modify it slightly - it is not far off being a catalogue display! Hope that doesn't offend you (to me that's still a compliment! ), the catalogue displays just have that extra bit of glamour that is lacking here. Primarily, it's probably the lighting and the background (you could always photoshop out the walls etc if you wanted). Hope that helps. PS - It's nice to see a fellow Scot building well! Keep it up mate!
  6. Nice scene. Very realistic depiction of the Romans there. Don't know if this is intentional but the commander is missing a saddle for his horse! I like the burning house in the background...damn Romans!
  7. One word: awesome! These films are my favourite of all time and of the "Dollars Trilogy" I like "For a Few Dollars More the Best" and since this creation is top-notch you've stolen my heart! Go you! If you wanted feedback, you could have used fleshy heads and hands for the dead bandits to make them easier to spot as being dead (i.e. they look pale because they are dead).
  8. Very tastefully done mate! This is probably the best Japanese-themed MOC I have yet seen. You should be proud of this. I can almost feel the tranquility just looking at this. The choice of minifig head and torso is phenomenal, it really adds an authentic feel to the MOC. Can I ask, is this supposed to be set in the modern-day or in the past? If it's the latter, can you give us a rough period? I have never been to Japan but I assume they still have teahouses like this in the modern-day. If you wanted some feedback, it looks a bit strange with the water underneath the structure, but that's gravely unfair of me saying that about a sublime creation so you can ignore it if you want!
  9. This is awesome! I really like the details on this - the two-shark sign, the roof of the grey corner building, the pier walkways, the building awnings and most of all the way you've managed to capture the hustle and bustle of a seaside street! Well done! I think a tacky gift shop is the way forward if you're thinking of expanding! I've never been to the seaside without one! If I could give you some feedback, I think the join with the sand and water looks a little odd because the sand isn't raised. Some tan plates here could be used to give some elevation and also break-up the abruptness of the transition from water-to-sand (i.e. make it more irregular). Although I suspect this may cause a problem if all the baseplates need to be able to be re-positioned for a layout.
  10. I like the theme of this topic a lot! It seems so obvious that TLC update older models but can't say I've ever sat down and compared any side by side, it's good to see this. Keep 'em coming!
  11. Nice work mate! The truck is cool but the car-carrier is my favourite! I really like the studs-showing cars - they stand out in a world of studless creations (not that there's anything wrong with studless).
  12. I've seen some of these pics already and they are great, and some I haven't seen yet which are...um...great! I love the mixture of lower and upper case letters on the 'bAR' sign, and the small tree at the side is great too. I think I can surmise what Eilif means about the yellow house - the tan and white buildings have a lot happening in them with the round 1x1 bricks and the use of SNOT tiles whereas the yellow one doesn't have this intricate detail. If I was you I wouldn't take that as a criticism as it only reflects positively to the standard you've built the tan and white buildings to! Keep it up! One bit of criticism I would make is - your street is far to democratic! El Presidente would not approve! LoL
  13. Very nice work! Good fig placement and use of minifig expressions. I like how you've used studs up for the grass and dirt (I don't like when people use SNOT for these) but a smooth cliff-face. The crocs are well done too. The way you've put the rocks on the cliff-face is what makes the MOC for me, it's very well detailed. The jungle is well constructed too. Overall it's a great MOC with little else to add, but I don't understand the use of the dark-red plate at the top right of the cliffs?
  14. This is coming along very nicely! The tavern is very nice, I like your use of colour on this and I absolutely LOVE the design around the door - very nice! I also think the use of the pieces you have used along the waterfront (they are kinda like handles) make a good theme. I notice you've used it in the "streets top" MOC too and I think it adds a little bit of individuality to your MOCs by keeping them with a regular theme, if you see what I mean! I do agree with SlyOwl that using black bars on the drain would give some contrast, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. Keep up the good work!
  15. Nice MOC. I like the idol even if the chicken...freaks me out!
  16. Further to the above I have tonight added a humourous (to me anyway) biography of the band on MOCpages. It can be found here. Apologies if this is considered 'bumping' of my own topic but I thought some may be interested.
  17. As a fan of any historically faithful MOCs (maybe except the Stargate... ) I think this is great! Keep up the good work.
  18. I am really liking the bigger of the two boats! The front is very well done, the pipe looks like a rail which is cool and the main turret is very well designed (nice use of SNOT by the way). The custom anchor is a nice touch. The roof is great in that is has a 'busy' look to it without looking too crowded. I also like the rear facing machine gun. My own feedback on this model is that the back is a little blocky, you did well to add something to the back of the boat but perhaps a curved rear-bit or sloped-bit would have been more realistic. Other than that perhaps having 4 crew members with matching torsos, preferrably not just Aquazone figs (you could change the arms/legs colours so people don't immeditely associate them with Aquazone)? But I wouldn't get too down on these things because overall this is an excellent piece of work! The second boat has a very nice forward machine gun and I like how the steering wheel is off-centre, that was a good idea. I have no idea what the circular disc is at the back but I find it strangely appropriate, don't ask me why! Nice touch! Using the 1x2 grill plates in the interior is very good thinking too. If you wanted feedback on this model, I feel that there are some really nice touches but overall I don't like the shape. It's a little too blocky for my liking, in the same way the back of the bigger boat is too blocky (this boat suffers from the same problem at the back). Perhaps some extra slopes at the front would break up the shape a little, what do you think? Overall these are two great MOCs and you should be very proud of them!
  19. I'd totally buy this! Great work oo7! Very neat. Nice use of foliage by the way!
  20. Very promising work, I look forward to seeing this when it is finished!
  21. Go on, that's what Lego is all about!
  22. Thanks Squeaker! Glad you like them. I should point out that I saw the Jar-Jar headdresses on classic-castle.com a few years ago so it's not an original idea. So anyone wishing to have a fictional Indian population could use them! Maybe native is the right word, El Presidente isn't too politically correct however... And yes, those are HP hairpieces! As I say, not an original idea but glad you like it!
  23. That's very impressive. Once you design it electronically are you thinking of building it for real?
  24. Thanks for the comments guys. Glad you like the Zulu project, Vaders_son, I'm hoping to have planned all the MOCs by the end of September and then have the parts ordered by the end of 2008 (can't spend £1000's at once, unfortunately - I've already spent over £500 on Zulu warriors since March). In the meantime I've just been working on small Town MOCs to flex my building muscles and hopefully pick up a few handy techniques. That's correct. The same happened to the Aztecs, the Texcala were only too happy to help Cortez exterminate their hated neighbours. Fat lot of good that did them. Most died of smallpox and other European diseases, and the rest ended up either working in silver mines or under the rule of the Spanish.
  25. Nice to see the WW theme continuing with some great MOCs, especially this one (I like all the Grave Stone creations). Immaculately presented, as always!
