As far as I remember, the summer sets do tend to change more. Can't remember specific examples off the top of my head though. On an unrelated note, been checking up on the "ask Greg Farshtey" thread on Lego message boards. It's remarkable how many people are still trying to ask him stuff about 2015 Bionicle XD

It would be a very strange colour to use as a placeholder. However, I'm not sure how to reconcile these pics with the descriptions we got the other day, which were spot on about all the other sets, right down to the new armour addon. It's possible scorpio's colour changed at some point during development, but it's impossible to know which colour is the more final one. The toy fair has a more preliminary version of the mask maker set, with the mask only blue, but here it's the one in its latest stage.... I guess time will tell as to which scorpio they're going with. How long is it till the toyfair that is normally the source of clear pictures? Oh, and to the guy wondering about the "tattered cloth" attatchment, it's the new limb armour addon. He didn't say it WAS cloth, he said it RESEMBLED it. This was what I was expecting it to be from the start, and I was surprised when everyone took it so literally.

Well, the tail is clearly going to have some sort of function. Looks to me like some sort of opening and shutting, but who knows. Either way, there wouldn't be that much technic unless it did something,

Interesting how much dislike there is for skull scorpio... I mean, he looks an awful lot like a nui jaga to me, which is a good thing. I mean, the tail looks ridiculously big, but other than that he seems one of the most well armoured and consistent of the new sets. I also hope the previous descriptions we received are correct, and that he does in fact turn out to be dark tan. I have 2 dark tan shells from vardy sitting lonely in my collection.

That was my reaction when I read the opening post, but thus far everyone has taken the discussion very seriously, actually weighing them up in terms of power rather than who they like better. Cautiously optimistic. XD

Personally, they don't give a 'skeletal' vibe to me, as they don't look like bones, just uncovered pieces. if they were placed weirdly, giving the sets a zombie look, it might work, but as they're so orderly and symmetrical, they just look like unfinished lego sets. Oh, and I think the trans blue on hunter is his torso armour, which he shares with the others. I hope I'm not coming off as overly negative, cos I like these as a whole, there are just a couple of things which really bother me, so that's what I talk about the most.

Oh, really? I thought it was just one of those normal dish pieces with some printing. If it's a less often used piece, that's cool. EDIT: it IS the ninjago piece, right down to the printing, which is presumably due to the preliminary nature of these images.

Well the sets only ever get better (with the possible exception of fire lord back in 2011) So I know for a fact I'll like the final versions way more. Oh, and the TTV site is speculating that they've seen some sort of slot and peg connection system on the new limb pieces. Can anyone see this? cos I certainly can't, and I just want to know if I'm missing something. Also, odd that there isn't any armour if there are connection points. I would think, if able, lego would put on armour, but they've proven me wrong on that point in the past.

To be honest, that's what I'm hoping, but I don't see why they'd be left off the preliminary piece. Has that ever happened in the past? And even if they do turn out to have holes, we know there probably isn't going to be any armour on them, so, while it would be a better piece, it still wouldn't help the sets at all. Also, is that a new purple on skull basher, or just the bad prelim art again? Because I welcome more of the purple we've been getting thus far, as we still don't really have enough to make a consistent purple moc.

Do you guys think it's at all possible that these new bone pieces are just the prototypes for something that will end up actually looking like a human bone? It seems like a weird choice to make new bones when they've happily just left armour off the old bones in the past. Furno 3.0 and scarox used the old bones, and lego still didn't bother giving them upper leg armour. Surely these new pieces must exist for some reason?

It's basically the problem people had with ccbs, but turned up to 11. The amount of technic connection points, (or apparently connection points of any kind?) steadily reducing. Which is weird, given that the other new pieces developed for the new Bionicle have plenty. The new weapon pieces thus far look just like they were lifter straight out of 2004. I mean sure, the vahki and some barraki didn't have any upper leg armour, but they at least had places you could attatch stuff if you wanted. These pieces don't even seem able to take armour.

um.. why do hey have so little armour? I guess it's meant to make them look skeletal, but it just makes them look unfinished. Do these new bone pieces even have anything to attach armour to? Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I can't see a ball joint or any technic attachment points. What can you do with it? Very early prototypes clearly, as those gold masks are obviously placeholders. Skull warrior looks really incomplete. Hoping for medium azure, but it looks like trans light blue Slicer looks kinda like a prototype Gorast. Also very unfinished looking. Blades remind me of Inika weapons Basher looks more filled out, and has nice armour add-ons. He and some others have very metru-esque blades Scorpio looks cool, but what's going on with that tail? Is that tan, trans yellow, or gold? Ekimu gets his protector mask, and a shield. Cool. Is that a new torso armour piece I see on Grinder? yes please. EDIT: it's on all of them. looks like a ribcage.

I think that's probably it. The story's whipping by so fast right now that the villagers don't feel like people, and Okoto feels more like a painted backdrop than a world. Much like how Bara magna felt in the legend reborn. But at least there, we had had the entire winter wave to explore what bara magna was like.

I feel like the appeal isn't wide enough for them to ever accept. Sure, lots of people know what Bionicle is, but only people in the fandom are even remotely invested in its "rivalry" with hero factory, and I imagine most people have only heard of HF through their own children, if at all. Regarding your actual question, it would make sense for stormer, furno, and rocka to use their XL forms, and for the toa mata to use their nuva forms (or Tahu his golden armoured stars form) hough, as I said they could probably walk it in their mata forms anyway.

I've personally never liked the idea that just because something is young, you can't complain about it (not that what he said even sounded like complaining). Obviously you do have to take into account how little we've seen, but at the same time, it's not like the story's just started. We're already at the 'find the golden mask' bit. The toa have met their protectors, had Okoto explained to them, and gone in search of their masks, in the space of about 5 minutes on our end. As much as I like the style of these shorts, they're a phenomenally bad way of telling this story.

Assuming we're using the toa from Bionicle 1 (which makes sense, since we know nothing about the powers of the new toa), then there would be no contest. A toa of fire could melt any hero near him with a single thought. A toa of iron could rip them apart (since their powers seem to extend to other metals for some reason). A toa of earth would be equally powerful. Heroes are durable, but probably couldn't survive being crushed by a giant fist of earth. Basically, the toa were always horrendously overpowered. Not that I'm complaining, I was just always surprised about how far their abilities went. One toa could probably take on the entire factory to be honest, and this is coming from someone with no animosity towards HF what so ever. The factory's only advantage is that it can keep on churning out heroes, but it would surely be destroyed eventually. One targeted strike would destroy the only hero factory in the galaxy. an attack the toa could easily pull off. Of course, if the toa elect to follow the Toa code, things get a lot more complicated.....

Ah, I love the smell of toyfair season... Anyway, the new masks fit on Av-Matoran heads eh? what a cool little surprise. (though that picture made me realise that Pohatu's new mask actually looks more like a hau than Tahu's one does XD)

I feel like the temple of time plucked the toa from the original timeline, but that LEGO is never going to outright say that, leaving only the older fans to know where they actually came from. Oh, and something intriguing thing about the story: How did Ekimu, who, as far as we know, is just a guy who makes masks, know about the toa? The protectors had never heard of them before being told the prophecy, so it's assumed they never visited Okoto before. How would Ekimu have ever learnt about them?

One has to wonder whether Makuta created the MoUP just to show up his brother's masks, or if he actually wanted to do something with all that power. He did put the mask on, suggesting he had more in mind than just making better masks than Ekimu. However, the legend video did say that the mask took control over him after that, so it's hard to say just how far he actually intended to go. (and, indeed, whether the mask "controlling him" was just too much energy driving him berserk, or if it actually had a will of its own).

Battle for the Gold Mask Semi-finalists and Winner
Timeline15 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I honesty doubt that was a factor. the new pieces aren't inherently better or easier to moc with than the old pieces, so I don't see how they can give an advantage. -
Battle for the Gold Mask Semi-finalists and Winner
Timeline15 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I personal think the win is thoroughly deserved. The contest was to create a villain for Bionicle. not a random titan, not a clown, something that could be in the Bionicle universe, This entry was a Makuta, to do with Okoto no less, and was well executed (and this is coming from someone who hates the overly jumbled huge mocs) even I will admit this moc was well done. Some of the other mocs in this contest, while incredibly impressive in terms of engineering, looked aesthetically terrible IMO. too many, pieces (particularly ccbs ones) jumbled together, look terrible, and the winner (mostly at least) avoided that. Hopefully any future contests will have either a size or piece count restriction, to avoid the contest suddenly escalating into huge mocs no toa sized creation could hope to compete with. -
Wow, Tahu is like some sort of self parody. MASTER OF FIYAAHHH! FEEL THE POWAAAHHH! I'm sorry, but this narrator seems to be trying to put on epic voices when he really can't. Even his protector of fire voice sounds cartoonishly over the top. XD feels like the story is racing by too. hopefully once the line has settled in a bit, things will calm down. Though I do like that Tahu's first instinct was just to run away from the skull spiders.
