The person Agamemnon was the commander of the greek army during the trojan wars. The ship HMS Agamemnon was Horatio Nelson's first ship of the line command, a 64 gunner. Although it was considered to be under gunned for a ship of the line ( the most common being 74 guns) Nelson was very fond of this ship. ...I'll let the slur against us Canadians slide by...but be careful and read your history concerning Canadians and the house that is now white that yor prez lives in. :) BTW all...Might be awhile before I can post new pics, my wife and I just bought a house and have to move in before the end of the month. I'll see if I can post some updates this weekend before all is packed up. :(

I double dog dare someone to go up to an officer in the Army and tell them they're really part of the armed forces. If you do take this dare I highly recommend running away quickly after.

yup I have about 400 of those lego strings that are 11 studs long just for the rigging, that I don't need for the Challenger, but i'm going to need a whole wack of 21,31,41 stud long strings for all the stays.
-
HMS Challenger has a crew of 80 sailors and 20 marines. HMS Agamemnon wil have 150 sailors and 30 marines, although right now I'm missing 40 sailors and 10 marines to complete the crew. To give you an idea, I've got enough lego that my church can have a lego pirate party for the 30 kids in our churches junior youth group and each munchkin can build thier own pirate boat or island.

You need turrets? check out this big bad boy. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=114077

Sounds good to me! Thanks for the heads up...your...imperial majesty? ;)

Ooops my bad, more like a gig or one of the ships auxilary boats is what I meant, I beg your forgiveness for unnecessarily leading you astray. A pinnance is more like a yacht, that picture from POTC ain't a pinnace, that puppy's got three masts thats more like a frigate or a sloop. http://ignca.nic.in/images/rar27/big/bsl49259.jpg

Love the Sails! I just finished reading "The Cree Journals" , the private journals of Edward Cree Surgeon in the English Royal Navy serving between 1837-1856. Between 1840 and 1846 he serves on the HMS Rattlesnake a 6th rate frigate converted to a troop transport, and the HMS Vixen a steam paddle sloop, both of these ships were in China during the first opium war and during these deployment his ships meet up with and trounce a fair number of war junks. Very interesting reading.

Well it wasn't built by me, that makes it unworthy :) I think if the number of bricks used to make the MOC is under say 12...it ain't worthy! I think one of the pinnances I'm working on for my ships are bigger. Thats it maybe its a size issue. Size does matter!
-
Thats about half of them, I got a ziplock bag around here somewhere with the other half. I've also got about 7 or 9 of those blue jacketed fellas with the brown undeershirt and buttons coming in from BL too. I really like those fellas, they're what I use for petty and warrant officers, and middies too!

Man you guys make me feel old...here's the closest thing I had to a pirate ship when I was a wee lad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting Boats had just been invented back then but me and my pet dinosaur alway had fun.

Looks good. I like the fence parts used for windows. Seems like there been a sudden increase in two deckers being constructed. It might be a shade on the stubby side but the over look is very good!

Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements!
Aaron Morse replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Pirates
^ it looks like you garden is pretty well defended! Most of my British and French (or red and blue) imperial guards have been switched over to tricornes or bicornes so it seemed pretty logical to put those shakos to good use. I also see your troops have the regular type rifle as opposed to the piratey muskatoon. -
*off topic* Mr Tiber if you are 13 wouldn't you be "master tiber" not "mr tiber"? Joke....please don't keelhaul me I have sensitive skin. So lets get a goin on this project, I think yhis is a great idea, it would cut down on multiple threads on same ships and make it easier for me to steal all your ideas....oops my inner monologue is broken again.

When you run "disguise 3" for santa it even puts a santa beard on the AT-ATs too! My boys have been playing with the santa mod and every once in a while they'll say something like " oh mr stormtrooper you've been bad this christmas..WACK!" or "Santas got something for you...WACK!"

Good eye with the water there Phred. Our drinking water is tolerable but the bottled stuff is way better. and yes Agamemnon is spelt correctly, I betcha Agamemnon got made fun of at school with a name like that. One idea I'm workin on for access to the lower deck is to actually have two sections fully slide out using "Modified 1 x 4 with Groove, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2653" and plate, modified with door rail http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=32028" with will give me a cross sectional acess to the orlop and second gun deck, I'm working on a mock up of this right now and it works pretty well, I'm just wondering how well it will perform once I've got another gun deck on top of it.

I've got hi speed so size doesnt matter to me, but I wouldnt want to put off all the snail speed internet connectors out there from being exposed to the glory and wonder of my creations! (wow this message is getting to big for me and my ego I'd better go!) low rez as requested.... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906001.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906002.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906003.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906004.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906005.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger001.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger002.jpg and the folder once moderated for neked lego minifigs http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=223682

So, modern military lego is out of the picture...
Aaron Morse replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yup more modern looking soldiers are possible with all the new elements. I especially like the skater helmert in light bluish grey. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras001.jpg -
Very good! Excellent1 Some nice ideas along the side of the ships for sloping upwards, a good looking forecastle and quarter deck. Colors are good and the sails complement the whole thing quite well. I'd give it a 9 out of ten, the rest of the fleet is quite impressive as well! Very Impressive! i also like the draw bridge idea for your fortress as well.

I like the green, there should be more green on ships, especially along the bottom along the water line showing abit of marine growth on it, gives the boat a used and lived in look. You could alway use a name generator like this for a name http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php...pirateshipnamer (sorry the first thing I thougt of for a name as the 'yellow submarine')
