Yeah, rotation sensor check the speed and feedback to RCX, RCX use PID algorithm to calculate next speed, then send this speed to PF receiver by IR, receiver control motor to speed up/down, loop until stop or manual control command received.

Last time I built a PID Speed Control Train by RCX with Rotation Sensor on the train. This time I created a PID Speed Control Train by RCX and PF Receiver with Rotation Sensor on the train. You can find that I rebuilding 79111, I put Battery box, PF Receiver and PF motor on flat car, then put RCX and rotation sensor on prison car. Next time I will create a PID Speed Control Train by RCX not on the train with reed sensor on track.

Bibo is an alternative firmware for the Lego Mindstorm RCX brick. It is very similar to BrickOS, but uses a completely redesigned task scheduler and interrupt manager. If you're not already familiar with BrickOS, you should read their tutorials and howtos. Bibo is mostly compatible to BrickOS.

Well, Bibo is a new RCX os like brickOS, there is code to implement using extra address space for receiver, I tried that code in my RCX to use extra space receiver but not successful.

There is a description in PF RC protocol v1.20 about how to use extra address to extend receiver, I tried code in bibo to test, but never successful to use extra address for receiver. Does anyone do it successfully?

I use lnp_addressing_printf to show message on PC by lnphost and debug my brickOS program in RCX, that is very good. Then I also use RCX to send PF signal to control PF receer, it is also good without any problems. Now I want to use LNP to debug PF control program, I found they can't be used together, if PF control is successful then no any LNP message can be shown, in opposite, if LNP message are shown then PF control can't be done. I also tried semaphore to control using LNP and PF, but the result is not so good.. I am not so good at infrared communication, I want to know if I want to use both LNP and PF protocol in one program, what should I have to pay attention, are there any tips or hints? does anyone help me?

Can you show me your reed sensor built and how to use them? Where is your NXT at? What do you mean only one train moving at a time? Can you explain more detail?

After getting help from Thorsten Benter, I ported his RobotC program to brickOS, you can view it https://m.youtube.com/user/mikezang2008#/watch?v=w1fuHvXSCTc This train is controlled by RCX with rotation sensor and PF train motor. You will see the train hard to move on curve without PID, and train will keep constant speed moving with PID. Next I will try to control PF receiver in constant speed moving with PID.

I want to use reed switch as RCX sensor, RCX will get signal when trains with magnate pass on it. I want to know if I can connect reed switch to RCX input port without any resistor? Do I have to use a resistor with reed switch?
