Ah, ‘pologies, I didn’t realize Blackguard gave out badges to folks who didn’t know the difference between a stable blast and an unstable one. ‘At’s thoughtful of them, really. ‘Fact is, we have no idea of knowing just what effect an uncontrolled blast might have on a power source like this. Wouldn’t be the first time a source of power had explosive potential. But it’s not really my call. ‘nd like you said, maybe we could use the wild card. Zaria, you’re the boss. Is it worth it?

Soren pauses in the middle of his action. Eliding past the fact that you just interrupted my plan, I’d like to point out two things. Number one: Zaria ain’t gonna be able to rally you from that far away. Number two: if that tank blows like you want it to, your precious cube blows too. And any of us standing too shy to it. I’m not even fully ‘gainst this, but it’s one hell of a gamble and right now we could use some chips at our table.

'aight, I've had just about enough. Zaria, cover me, Yelana, target Crunch. I'm going to give you a boost. Soren moves to H3 and Rallies Yelana.
-
Slice can't actually hit Soren because Soren is in G3. If we were to retroactively claim Slice was using his ranged weapon, I believe Zaria gets an attack of opportunity. Damn good shot, Yelana. Let's take this guy out fast- Soren fires a freezing bolt at Slice. EDIT: Already on it.
-
We can scan the damn cube once we finish with these agents, now take the shot while you're in range. ...why not, exactly? There's a penalty to range, but that hasn't stopped Yelana from firing before.
-
Soren gave a swift nod to Yelana, hopeful that the sniper would pull through and put some damage in Slice before things get much worse. He then follows suit with Zaria, already on the same line of thought, and fired at Pierce.
-
Yelana, deal with the shark! I've got the leader. Soren steps into G3, and fires at Pierce. Elemental casting is my thing! Find your own thing!

They had guns pointed at us!! I'm the one bleeding out because you couldn't hit anything! Was she selling them out!? To this woman who clearly couldn't give a shit about her? And she had the gall to call Soren an idiot... Soren continued to drink his Plasma Potion, longing for the days when you could rely on someone.

Is there a chance that you could not do that, because I’m pretty sure that would actually kill us at this point. EDIT: I was pretty busy earlier, but I wanted to expand on this because I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, I just legitimately don't see that as an option. Kintober kind of said what I was going to, but Yelana's previous attempts at diplomacy have all been unsuccessful. Her attempts to persuade the stowaways were met with a DC 3 and then a DC 5. Her attempt to talk to Pierce earlier didn't even seem to have a DC check - and I presume that trying to persuade an enemy in the middle of combat, after Yelana has already canonically fired upon her, is not going to go smoothly. Role-playing games are a lot about playing out your character and figuring out what they would do in any situation, but they're also about playing on a team. Soren and Zaria are both hurting bad, and Yelana is the biggest weapon we have. She's the only one on our team with a calibrated weapon, we're relying on her to get some good damage in. But when our hardest-hitting teammate refuses to engage in combat, it kind of screws the rest of us. If Zaria fails to push Crunch off this turn, and Pierce still has her ward up, it's going to be a very bad time for us. I definitely encourage you to play Yelana faithfully, but I also encourage you to find a version of that which still functions with the team when the chips are down. Sometimes RPGs are about finding that balance. If diplomacy against all odds and to the direct expense of herself and her team is genuinely the way Yelana would play, then okay, just know that it likely isn't going to go down very well.

Damn, that hurt. At least we're out of everyone's range for the moment. With his teeth, Soren pops open a Plasma Potion and then chugs it. Really wishing I had gotten that damn drink now.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Rules & FAQ
The Legonater replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
Out of curiosity, do you have any sort of ratio in mind for length of quest per CP's gained? I've been finding myself pairing back the number of encounters in my quest planning - mostly for other reasons, but partially because I don't necessarily want to be rushing our heroes too far forward. It is looking like a bit of a longer quest, though, so maybe I shouldn't be as focused on that? -
I was thinking over the Gunslinger class, mostly because it's one I'll be pretty likely to take with Soren, so there may be some bias here. I get what you're going for with the Survival bonus, but I was wondering of a more Gunslinger-styles trait would be something like a boost to initiative? Though, that would probably go under the 'Quickdraw' label, which you already have something for. In any case, something a little more spicy than a Survival bonus could be fun.

This all sounds good to me. A note for WBD, does our Spirit not recharge between battles?
-
Looks like mid-range is gonna be the way to go with these folks. I'm taking out the mage first - that should free us up for the rest of the fight. Soren slides into F3 and fires at Pierce.
-
Soren shrugs Yelana off him, frustrated that she interrupted the 'shooting' part of his shoot-first policy. What are you doing!? They literally said they weren't interested in talking it out! He swaps hands on his gun to put it further from Yelana, and then fires again at the invaders.
-
Hey, Yelana; these your friends? Soren tosses Zaria's sword to her, and unholsters his gun. I'm assuming diplomacy ain't going to be a factor, here?
-
Soren takes the blade in his hand, and flips it absently. Cool. We're doing this now. Weapon in hand, he follows Zaria to engineering, listening for sounds of conflict beyond.
-
Actually, wait, I'm realizing I have the layout of this train totally flipped in my head. So there's an attack on engineering but the waitress is moving everyone back towards luggage, right? And she's hoping engineering's protection will keep the damage contained up there?
