It's looking doubtful. We might have to pay another visit to our friend in baggage, see if we can get to the roof from there.
-
Soren observes (I presume?) Yelana's running around, exhausted at her youth and inability to work with anyone else. Taking stock of his surroundings, and the information he received from Zaria, he turns to the waitress. Hello, ma'am - there doesn't happen to be any roof access on this train, does there?
-
Soren shrugs. Just a humble pilot, ma’am. Double checking that the documents were secret and safe, Soren follows behind Zaria.
-
Soren listens to Zaria's speech, running his hands through his thick hair as he did so. Sure, yeah. I can take them. The pilot grabbed the documents and hid them in one of the pockets of his jacket. For what it's worth, I don't know if I love the idea of Oc|Tan getting a hold on whatever it is we're dealing with. M-Tec is apparently planning to use it for some free energy initiative? 'Sounds pretty good to me, at least. I don't know about you, but our employer didn't seem like he'd be quite so gung-ho about sharing power.
-
With a nod, Soren stands up and follows Zaria into the next car. Alright, what the hell is going on?
-
Soren catches Zaria's eye as she passes. Both of them? Something was going down. Thanks, Kish - get me something hard, why don't you? 'Scuse me for the moment, though; just need to stretch my legs for a bit.
-
Soren glances at Yelana passing through the dining car, drawing attention to herself in her hurry. What was she up to now? He decided to mind his business - if it affected the job, someone would tell him sooner or later. He had to focus on the now. Not to nitpick, but as far as I'm aware Yelana absolutely does not know this. If we could let OoC knowledge impact our character's knowledge, you can bet that Soren wouldn't still be hanging in the dining car I'm also cautious about Yelana's ability to freely translate obscure, debated Greek words, but that one's more out of my hands.
-
You're probably right. Everything's probably fine. Soren tries to settle back into his seat, eyes continuing to glance back to where the drone disappeared. He finishes his popcorn, getting ready for whatever happens next.
-
Soren gives a disconcerting glance at the drone as it passes by. He turns to the Quarm, shaking them if they are asleep. Did you just see that? Was that M-Tec property?
-
Parous, eh? The pilot considers for a moment. Mind if I sit by you until then? There's not a lot for conversation partners on this train.
-
Damn. The folks at M-Tec must be something special to stumble on a discovery like that and aim to give it over to the people. Soren gently teased out his words, trying to gain insight as to whether the Quarm was being genuine with how noble M-Tec's pursuits seemed. That's a high goal. 'Can't imagine the competition would be so generous.
-
At that, Soren paused, considering. It had never quite struck him that he was stepping into a world-shaping feud. Would Oc|Tan use this tech any better than M-Tec? Was there any way to know? He pulled at the tense muscles in his neck, trying to relax. A job's a job. At the end of the day, none of it really matters. Alrighty. Aquire information. Soren looked up at the Quarm persuasively. What else can you tell me?
-
Soren paused while eating his kernel, the implications settling in. Free power? For all? He let out a low whistle. I didn't even think that kind of thing was possible. Don't you need to harness that level of power from somewhere? 'You using the Aerthernet or something like that?
-
'The hell!? 'Should teach you to mind your own things. Who do you think you are, picking through people's food? Get back to the economy lounge, or wherever the hell you belong. Soren grumpily gnashed on a piece of popcorn, hoping that Yelana would get the message and that the Quarm wouldn't think they were associated. I have 'spensive tastes, what can I say? Infrastructure sounds exciting, though. I hear whispers M-Tec is getting back on the up-and-up, anything new you guys have to offer is sure to be a show-stopper.
-
Uh, sure. Why not? I also have business for M-Tek, thought Soren. He considered his options carefully. I'm just a humble pilot. I heard there'd be work at the end of this train, so I hopped aboard. He gave an imperceptible smirk. Technically, nothing he'd said had been a lie. What kind of project are you planning? Or is that sort of thing a secret?
-
To be honest, that's part of what's so confusing. Some days I feel more used to maneuvering in three dimensions. Soren takes a mental note of the Quarm's uniform. That's both their leads tagged. He tried to catch Yelana's eye, assuming she followed him, in hopes to communicate with Zaria that they had both targets tailed. Turning back to the menu, he balks at some of the prices, instinctively checking his account. There... seemed to be even less credits there than he anticipated. How did that...? Fighting the uncertainty creeping at the edge of his brain, Soren flagged down the O'Kor'uk. Just popcorn, please, he ordered, then turned back to the Quarm. So what brings you here on the Boreal Express?
-
A little frazzled and turned around, Soren reaches for a seat next to the Quarm. 'Easy to get lost in a place like this, the pilot mentions. Say, do you have a manu I could look at?
-
Thanks for the help, ma'am. Soren glances around the cabin for a moment more, before heading forward to the next car.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion
The Legonater replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
I intend to have a quest ready to launch by September! I've just been very busy during the summer, but there'll be more postings soon! -
Soren stands at the entrance to the car for a while, unsure where to go, before stepping towards the waitress. Say, have you seen any Quarm in this area recently? I had a friend I was supposed to meet.
-
'Kay, but our dwarven friend looks pretty skittish. I'm 'fraid he might bolt off if we don't keep an eye on him. Soren absently scratched at his chin. I recognize the virtue of exploring what we have to work with, I'm just worried 'bout our mission. That's a broad-scope problem, though - I'll leave the intricate plans to you. What do you reckon is best?
