Soren wiped sweat from his brow and checked the charge of his blaster. That took a lot longer than he was expecting. Was Zaria not going to chip in some damage eventually? Whatever. What's done is done, move on. He eyed the armour. He could sure use some of that, if this fight was any indication, but he didn't figure he had the strength to shoulder it very long. Best to stay mobile. Maybe someday. The weary pilot leaned against the wall. In his jacket, he felt the journal and key he had swiped from Kish. Damn, he'd nearly forgotten about them in all the hubbub. He'd have to take a look on the ride back to Ebria. Speaking of rides... We should find the train staff. Tell 'em that everything is clear.

Soren fired a baffled look at Yelana. Was she seriously trying to chastise him for not needlessly charging into the hands of people trying to kill them? Whatever. At least they were all working on the same page.

Easy, there, Big Shot - we can end this without destroying any more Boreal property. To echo what Duvors said in the General Discussion thread, we really don't need to be taking any risks. Soren is at one health, and we don't really know what will happen if we fail the tank DC. I appreciate your creativity, but at this point, I'd rather be safe than sorry. We're practically guaranteed to be done in the next two rounds, I say we just repeat and let WBD auto-roll.
-
I don't know how you feel about this, WBD, but assuming Round 13 ends with A) Slice still standing, and B) Slice still grappled, it would probably be fair to auto-roll Round 14 as well? Just for the sake of expediency.
-
Sure thing. Soren stayed put, aiming again with his weapon. Shooting a restrained target was hardly sporting, but at least it helped him work on his aim. With an icy breath, he focused, hoping this would be his final shot, and fired at Slice.

It's a shame we don't have a system for critical hits, because what a roll! 'Right, well, we have a couple o' options. We could all just repeat until Slice is on the floor, or next round Yelana and I could repeat and then Zaria could get a good hit in potentially ending the whole thing. Jus' depends if we want to drag this out any longer than we already have.

Quick note - I just realized that when I tried to cast Elemental Bolt and failed, I didn't lose any Spirit points. Is that intentional?
-
Damn, that hurt. But we're in good position now - let's finish it. Soren moves to G3 and shoots Slice.
-
...exactly what sort of deal were you intendin' to strike with Pierce, Yelana? Nobody's getting on any dropships. We deal with Slice and then figure the authorities out later.
-
Hold on, madame secret agent. You stole from someone in a 'ttempt to get them to trust you? That... ain't how it works.
-
You call yourself a professional, stop saying the word 'sus.' Once again, the crew asked us to deal with Abam. And what rad signatures - none of us have touched the cube? As far as anyone is concerned we just stopped an attack on this train, we're damn heroes here.

The authorities are waiting because I told the engineers to call for them! The train staff know us, and know we weren't involved. Why would they arrest us?

Kid, there's absolutely no way you're getting me on that dropship. Go ahead and attack Slice, I'll be alright, but I ain't following you onto that thing.
-
I can certainly give it a try, but 'm not confident I have the power for it. Soren casts Entropic Mending on the broken wall.

We got nothing but options right now. Despite my lousy shot last round, I reckon Yelana and I have a solid chance at putting Crunch down this round. He’s carrying Pierce, so that might delay them. I just don’t love the idea of putting all our odds on taking out Slice when that’s far from a guarantee.
-
‘You sure about that, Z? Slice still has all his clones up, if we put this all on one hit, that’s quite the gamble.
-
I think our carriage is about to turn into a pumpkin real quick, folks! I’m about ready to let them go, but Yelana, if you want that cube we’re gonna have to focus on Slice, now.

What, and you do? Successfully blowing the first tank was a Hail Mary. We were lucky to make the DC 3 proficiency check, and I'm not willing to test our luck on what will probably be a harder roll. Your plan leaves me wide open to attack, which is not ideal right now, and I honestly think it would miss Crunch or Slice completely. If you rally me, or also fire, there's a non-0 chance we take down both Crunch and Slice this round on our own. If you defend or heal Soren, we're basically guaranteed to get out of this in one piece. We're in a good position, I much prefer one of those options than a gamble that could very easily go wrong for us. EDIT: Number crunching! If Yelana rallies Soren, that's 3 dice plus an auto-success to Crunch's 2 defence dice. That's really good for us, even better than blowing the tank. If Slice defends him, that still just puts us at about even. Plus, it would mean Slice is wasting his action. If Yelana shoots at Crunch, the deficits for being out of range will off-set her bonuses, and so she'll only have 1 die for attack, which I wouldn't recommend. Healing Soren is a 1-6 health gamble, but defending him adds 3 dice to his defense total, which should counteract anything they have to throw at him. At this point, you've built your character pretty well for support, and I think that's your biggest asset right now. Blowing the tank properly is going to take at minimum 3 successes in 4 rolls. What the effect would be is basically an unknown, given this is a very different kind of shot than your last one. My guess is it's either hitting Crunch or Slice, but probably not both. It could go G2, F3, E4 - but it could also go H2, H3, H4 and hit you. Given how WBD played the last round, I don't think it'd hit in a square like you want it to, but I also don't think it would hit Soren in H1, which is nice! But at this point maybe-hitting Crunch for two damage is not better than possibly taking out Crunch in one round or stopping Soren from being taken out. Actually, given Order of Operation, if Yelana rallies Soren we won't actually get the advantage until next round. Which I'm still down for, but it might mean Zaria warding Soren this turn so he doesn't die. Zaria won't get a hit on Slice this round, but it means we're set up to take out Crunch and we can spend future rounds beating on Slice until his stupid clones are used up. Numerically, I think this is our best bet - Zaria wards Soren and Yelana rallies him. He still shoots this round, hopefully chipping off a health, but he's practically guaranteed to bring down the shark next round, leaving you two to drop Slice's clones. The only way the tank would be a better option is if we somehow hit both of them, which I don't think we're likely to do again.
-
WBD, I don't know how you feel about conditional actions, but for the sake of time, if Yelana follows along Soren will move to G3 and Rally her. If Yelana plans to blow up the tank, he will instead move to G3 and shoot Crunch.
-
Worth noting, I can't get to G4 or H4, so wherever I go I'm either in the blast range of that thing, or I'm stuck between two melee fighters. Not a great look for me.
