  1. Solved the problem. It turns out that the largest flat container i had did fit the set, unassembled. So i just tossed it in, added the container i have the 3 little ship things plus the spring operated missles, and was able to put a few things back in the container.
  2. Yea, that's what i starting to think i could do. I could disassemble part of it so i could remove the wings then store it like then in one of my flat storage boxes it i move a few more things out the box. I would just dissemble it and store it but then i'd have to start playing the "hunt through multiple containers" game whenever i go to reassemble it.
  3. Sorry but i'm not going to "get over it" when lego decided to basically insult the only reason they are making as much money as the r now! I highly doubt its only the kiddies buying up the big ticket lego sets that really pull in the money. You know stuff like the death star, modular buildings, and the Simpson sets. I highly doubt its only the kids buying all those cmf's, often a CASE at a time, for one reason or another.
  4. What is ya'lls favorite sorting/storage method to dealing w/ sets? Last year i got Bennys SSS when it was 80 dollars and had fun building it and having it on my desk. Problem is that my display space, especially for such a horizontal space hog, is limited. Since i really like this set, but have no storage containers to put it assembled as is in, i need to dissemble the set to bag it up. Thankfully, i am pretty sure i know where i can put the bagged up stuff since i should have a free drawer in a storage container i use. Part of sorting/bagging will be easy for me. The things that have been in a container on the side such as the 2 little ships that attach on the sides, the robots mini ship, and the doodads that go in the launchers will get a bag of their own. the minifigures have been on the stand w/ the other TLM set figures i have. The 2 instruction booklets that are under the ship will get moved into my sterelite drawer that holds other instructions, and the sticker sheet has been gone for about 3 weeks now(put it in w/ some stuff I traded w/ a guy) since I hate the things.
  5. as in the series ended? It already has! we got 3 waves and there's been no word on more sets. Combine that w/ the factor that licensed sets rarely make it past 3 waves and it's obvious its game over for the them. the way that society moves these days, that movie is ancient history. taking into account that no matter how much a LT is loved, it's lucky to make it to the 3 year mark, it's not a surprise its history. Minecraft sets, the minifigure scale, is something i love but i'm already mentally preparing myself for it to get canned in about a year and a half.
  6. i think i may have a winner for unpopular opinions: i think the lego movie is nothing short of being an overhyped piece of junk. I saw the movie one day after it premiered in theaters and i'm still regretting it. It was like they spent 75% of the budget on animation, 24% on the real scenes(by real, i mean made of physical bricks), and 1% on developing a script. Overall, it was like it was designed for 5 year olds even though i'm pretty sure that i've heard of lego fans in their 60's and 70's existing. I was entertained for maybe 10 minutes, it was right up until wyldstyle was introduced for the first them when she was digging around in the site. By the time they had arrived at the Lord business place as a big group(it was w/ metal beard), i was ready to leave but the only thing stopping me is that my mother was still watching the movie and i didn't want to just go sit around in the lobby. By the time the "hey lets use a plot twist that belongs in the 90's" plot twist that this was all a story made up by an 8 year old was revealed, i was questioning why i'm a lego fan. Oh, FTW on why id still a lego fan, its due to major reasons. First off, its due to the fact that w/o the stress relieve from the lego building/sorting i am doing, i don't think i could survive the continuing nightmare of the dental journey i made the mistake of doing last year. Second off, they have the minecraft license and i have falling in love w/ it. In the world of minecraft, there's no right or wrong. the closest ive come to watching the movie since then is when i had caught it available to dvr when the HB channels were doing a free channel trial. it was during a time frame when i was lacking stuff on the DVR to watch since i tend to pause shows that are currently playing for a while to build up a leeway to skip commercials. The lacking factor was an all to common result of me going overboard cleaning out the dvr of stuff i thought i didn't want to watch again. Well, fast forward about 4 days w/o me watching the movie and i built up more stuff on the DVR to watching. Still had no desire to watch the movie so out it went since dvr space is already snug at times.
  7. Used to be creator but now minecraft has stolen my heart. In a sandbox world of no rules or logic when building, though taking precautions against mobs is a wise idea, there's no right and no wrong. I have the cave and i love it. I built both the first night and the mine as accuratley as possible from parts from my collection. and mom got me the farm set. Next wave i want the dungeon and the desert set. hoping to get the nether set on a sale. Even the lego sets themselves can defy logic! The first night set's house is awefully fancy for a house someone could build in one game day when they just started out. After playing in the tutorial world for over a month, i started back up a file i had made in the regular mode on the PS3. Very little play time, not much in the way of supplies. In order to build a house a little bigger then the TFN house, plus a pen for cows, it took me a little over 3 full game days.
  8. I finally found the series 6 animals. Passed on them. They were at Walgreen's for 6 bucks, plus tax, each! To much dough for such small bagged sets. Been drawing a blank elsewhere One Walmart, last time we were there, still only had a mix of wave 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the store. Second Walmart has been, for the most part, out. Only animal bag finds there lately was one time I found a single tiger set on sale for 2 bucks and am other time I found a single turtle set for 2 bucks. Third one hasn't bothered stocking any in months even though there is room for at least an end cap display. The target we tend to go to more often is the same case as Walmart 3. I decided to move onto Minecraft stuff instead. I bought the cave and built both the mine and first night sets as accurately as possible from parts from my collection. Going to be pursuing both the desert set and dungeon sets. Major thing saving the animal sets from the parts bin is the fact I haven't had time to put my version of the series 6 sets in the display case to see it all together. After that, its be a matter of seeing when I'll need the space. Might wind up moving my TLM 2-in-1s in there.
  9. Is there a price guide available for the sets?
  10. I made a little more progress. I removed the kreo part of the tray and replaced it with a post of round bricks with a couple sizes of bars for support and then made an arm from "Technic, Liftarm 1 x 3 Thin" with 3L bars and the thick spacer bits to make it swivel. I then put a 1x2/1x2 bracket and one of those 1x2 plates with the little bar part that comes up on the tray. I slid the bar part into the end of the lift arm and used a thin spacer to hold it in place. It's still not quite what the outcome i was hoping for for the project but that looks a lot closer to a real chair.
  11. varies. Last time i was at a store(a little over 3 years ago), they were fine with mix and a matching.
  12. If you mean for the tray i'm building, i'm done with that part. If you mean from the dental phobia pov, i'm slowly making progress on my own. Seems like part of the problem is that my body is automatically associating the office with a place that i will be poked, prodded, yanked, drilled, etc even when thats not the case! i was there 2 days ago for a lower partial adjustment and when i was in the chair waiting for the dentist to come in to do the adjustment, it felt like my heart was about to beat out my chest. it was an adjustment that only took a few minutes since it was only the front fake tooth causing issues.
  13. I made progress with the tray. I did 2 of the 1X2/2x2 regular brackets, then 2 of the 1x2/1x2 bricks under that, then an inverted tile under that and flipped it over. I then raided the container of kreo parts and took and used a round 2x2 tile with snap, a 1x2 plate with socket, and some of the ball and socket snap parts and made a rotating arm. Took the same parts and combined it with a 1x2 trans yellow tile and created a light for the chair.
  14. Depends. If you're a purist, then donate the mega blocks. Otherwise hold onto them.
  15. I scored 2 great buys from ebay, both are still in route. First i got a set of series 1 CMF knockoffs for a whopping cost of $12.01 that should be here in a couple days. Then I got a set of 6 zombie figure customs for a whopping 3.25. There's a business man, a pajama guy, a nurse, a construction guy, a policeman, and a nerd zombie. I am going to put both on display for now but i might swipe the clown and robot to make my own "fro-bot" like in the reasonably clever comic. That means i'd just have to track down a luka head and a Dr donut feelgood head.
  16. has anyone heard any rumors of if they'll get a store to the louisiana area? I've been wanting one here BAD ever since my first trip to one. i can't remember the year but it was when they were clearing out series 3 stock and there was a big bin of shiny new wave 4 CMF bags. So i guess that'd mean like the end of 2010 or start of 2011.
  17. That's a really cool idea i'll have to look into. I could make the tray smaller with only on 2x2 inverted tile instead of 2. Maybe I could use the tray with mixel hinges I have instead of having to do a BL order since i dont have the 90 degree finger hinges.
  18. Working on a dentist office moc and i've run into a problem. First a backstory for the project. You see, i've had a rather rough dental journey where the status is i have partials i almost never wear and i'm kind of traumatized by the whole thing. I am trying to make a moc that i can kind of role play with to get myself calmed down so i can go in for a cleaning at some point. Trust me, i'd rather go back to being a dental phob but the problem is if i lose any more teeth, i probably won't be able to get away with not wearing partials as little as i do now. If you want the full story up to the latest rant i made yesterday on the journal, drop me a PM and i'll give you the link. So i decided to do a office moc. I'll be modding another project i had started on(recreating the old friends vet set) for the building, i found a chair i got from a lego grab bag a while back which will be the chair plus i even made a second one, and i think i have the light problem solved. Got a few ideas for the 360 xray machine also. Even better is thanks to the mostly complete ninjago board game i got from ebay last month for a whopping 8 bucks and change, i have extra 16X16 plates to make the thing a little larger if I wish. I would rather have a swiveling tray like what you see in offices where they have the tools lined up when they are doing whatever they are doing for that appt then just a little table near the chair. Something like what you see with the images from the dental chair search results. While I could very well do something like this(:seen in the bottom left panel) http://www.reasonabl...comic/03202008/ , i'd rather go for something more realistic. i tried googling lego dentist chair and i'm not really finding something i can use. I tried working out a technic idea in LDD but was way to bulky. And ive tried working out 2 other ideas in LDD and it doesn't look right. 3rd set up, which is currently in use in the LDD model, is kind of like a stand with 2 rows of clips with the top row being a half stud offset. While I probably will be able to pull off what I need to some extent with mixel hinges plus thick and thin lift arms, half pins, and clips; I want to see if anyone has any ideas since i'd rather have something that's just a tiny bit more compact.
  19. I am defiantly at that point now. I've already organized a bunch of stuff including a 1 lb lot of legos i won from online. plus rounding up some parts/figures to trade with a guy down the line, . I STILL have 2 of those small 3 containers that stack together(the ones at target) to go through, i still need to decide what to do with another ebay order i got, I've got random parts here and there, i have about 4 polybags AND a spare lego friends tiger cub set on the side that might get a sort out, and i have lego friends series 5 still mostly together somewhere on my desk. Then on top of that, i got a red ninjago plane on sale and i know there's a chance that i might be partially modifying it so there could be other parts to be sorted out. guh! And i almost forgot i'm thinking about modding the lego vet clinic i made that was based off the first friends clinic and turning it into maybe a dentists office or something different so that'll be more leftovers to sort out. And there's a chance that i might wind up taking about a house thing i made over a year ago so if i do, that'd be even more stuff. Plus i did get a yellow chima copter on sale and there's no guarantee that i won't do a mod on it. And I am still not sure what i'll do with the tmnt lair. And let's not forget another level of fun. when i sort out the parts and put the parts away, there's no guarantee that i won't have to start breaking down parts into separate categories(by type and/or color).
  20. Got it downloaded. I decided to put the items I remove from the model on the left side behind a small wall of 1x3's so incase I do need them, I can get them back fast. And I have on a light blue filter for the parts I am adding from what would be my stock so I know what's different.
  21. I recently bought a lego set on clearance for half off(red ninjago plane) and I want to turn it into more of a open cab chopper thing. It'd be easier for me to do that if I could mess with the existing design digitally so I don't wind up having to get up about a million times fetching parts that I might need from containers in my room.
  22. One thing that i'm concerned about is does lego really need to be making all these new parts? Do we really need inverted tiles, round jumpers, more and more styles of wheels and mudguards? Why make a new gator mold that looks like its a mix of duplo and a clone brand when the old mold is just fine? Do we really need a super jumper or more shooter style items? Another big concern i have is why are there So many stickers in sets? Sets cost 2 arms and leg and it seems like it shouldn't be unreasonable to want quality printed stuff. If anything, that factor along is a major reason i'm getting turned off of picking up a set at retail. Why should i pay big bucks for a name brand plastic contruction brick product when it comes with stickers instead of printed stuff? I stopped using stickers since they don't last but the overall look winds up suffering. "One thing that I've found increasingly frustrating is that the staples of hospital, police, fire & gas station are there for the kids sets for the city/town/whatever theme you want to call it. Seldom if ever a grocery store, a sizable restaurant (shocked that they haven't attempted to work with Subway/McDonald's or something), they've had a couple of banks, but they are beyond bad, especially 1490." There hasn't been a hospital theme in years. the last hospital theme was 3 years ago and it looks like it's just a hospital and ambulance. Before that was about 6 years prior in 2006. "I've noticed a lot of people on youtube who do reviews of Lego Sets often complain that the new sets are not really very special and maybe even overpriced. Personally, I completely agree with them! What do you think?" Agreed. Used to be you could find some awesome stuff out there and now it's like it's nothing but repeats or stuff that's really lacking. Like i got attack on lake town on clearance for 15. There isn't much play space in the set, the shooter thing sticks out so much, and the "crane" is really bad.
  23. But it doesn't have to be super organized. It could be basics like bricks, plates, tiles, minifigures/minifigure accessories, animals/animal part/animal accessories, technic, and maybe mixed bin.
