What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Athos replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Another idea I had this evening was a Leprechaun. Gender: Male Face: red eyebrows Torso: green/dark-green suit with gold belt buckle Legs: dark-green/green short legs Accessories: top hat and red beard piece for sure and either a cauldron with gold coins or a shamrock Steve -

Here are some other figures I thought of that would be great. Rather than post descriptions, I thought I'd link to a photo: Matador Mariachi Player, a great excuse to include a more traditional guitar Mountain Man or Davy Crockett Mongol Hunter Steve -
By your command!

The red works a lot better than I'd thought it would have. If you'd just told me you were building a red church, I'd have said, "bad idea", but now that I've seen it, it looks really good. Steve

Great use of the white ringmaster whips. Steve

Would you or have you ever painted bricks?
Athos replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I wouldn't. Steve -
I only own a few of the smaller Atlantis sets, so I've never compared the colors. I don't doubt that the color is realistic. I just don't happen to like the red and green combination, its just too bright for me. The MOC itself is good and the color is appropriate for the idea. Steve

I'd like to snag this figure, but $10 is way too expensive... Steve

CONTEST: Design a Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) set
Athos replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
So, are composite pictures ok? If not, I'll happily change mine. Steve -
Very clever original idea. The red and trans-neon-green combination is a terrible mix. But since, you're going for an Atlantis theme, you can't avoid it. I really like the windows on the corner. Steve

Its a great start, but I agree it is too empty. Book stacks are definitely needed and maybe something else. What about the velvet ropes and stands that Indy used to break the floor? Maybe put the librarian in there too? Steve

A lot of the photos are really dark. Particularly of the figures... Steve

L'Entité d'Atlantis/ The Entity of Atlantis.

This is my favorite image! The composition is nearly perfect. With a few minor changes, it could be suitable for framing: (1) cropped a little off the top and bottom right or expand the MOC a bit in those directions, so you couldn't see the upper edge of the wall; (2) move the dangling chain slightly, so as not to obscure the mermaid's face; (3) get better focus on the dolphin guy; and (4) fix the flash reflection on the left side. I think it needs another color. I don't like the mostly black and brown combination. It seems to flat. Maybe use tan or yellow as an accenting shade? But, personally, I'm much more intrigued by the picture on the screen in the background than the actual MOC... I really want to know what has the seagulls so excited, but I can't decide whether I want to see the rest of it or not... Steve

Oops, I forgot to count the guys in the market stalls... Steve

Join Jack Raines as he and his companions explore the exotic Cairo bazaar: Jack visits the blacksmith who can repair your tools for digging in the desert and sharpen your weapons for battling mummies: Mac inquires of the old imam to learn the secret to defeat the minions of Am-set Ra: Helena enjoys a refreshing drink of water from the well before stocking up on exotic wares and vital supplies at the market: Stow the supplies in the rugged truck for transport back to the dig site: Once all the work is done, the last stop is the wayfarer's Inn, where beautiful belly dancers serve a tasty meal on the roof, but beware the monkeys, they will steal anything: About the creation: This entry is purposefully not nearly as large or elaborate as other entries. As the contest was to design a D2C set, I really tried to make this set look and feel like an official Lego creation. I used the Medieval Market Village and Diagon Alley as guides and templates for a D2C set. Thus, the construction techniques are pretty basic, without much SNOT work or tiling, as you would find in an official Lego set. There are not a significant number of play features, as D2C sets tend to be more directed at AFOLs. Though, as you can see in the pictures, each building has an interior with some minimal furnishings. As an homage to the original Adventurers line, the truck design borrows heavily from the truck in Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins. As official Lego sets tend not to include excessive numbers of large or specialized pieces, the set only includes one camel. I did not count the pieces, but would guess there are around 1000 there. Using the $.10/piece ratio, I would place the cost of this set between $99.99 and $149.99. You can see more photos in the flickr gallery and I may post some more as time permits. Steve

I like the baseplates too. They are a great starting place for large MOCs. I would really like to see some more of the tan 32x32s. Steve

Very nice. I really like the roofing on all the buildings. The only thing I think it needs is a clothes line stretched from one building to another...? I'm going to be stealing many of your little detail idea for my own MOCs (Hmmm... my own my own creations?) Steve
-
Very nice. My only suggestion would be is to have the roof slopes overlap the walls, rather than be flush with them. Steve

CONTEST: Design a Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) set
Athos replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm curious about the judging criteria. Will the entries be judged on the basis of conformity to the style of the official Lego DtC sets? Or will they be judged as MOCs entered into a contest by AFOLs? A good MOC by an AFOL has nearly no chance of becoming an official Lego set, DtC or otherwise. So, the criteria for judging will greatly impact the stategy of the MOCing... Steve -

I did these up right before the distasteful minifigure category got discontinued and never got around to posting them. But here they are: The Pimp: The Drug Pusher: The Reverse Mermaid: The Fat Old Guy Wearing a Speedo at the Beach: Steve

Didn't see any mention of this in the first post. While searching for a case of collectable minifigures, I came across this: Ninjago Brickmaster Pre-Order Steve

I'm sure there's an "Are you my mummy?" joke out there somewhere, I just don't feel like trying to set it up in a comic... Steve
