Very cool. I was admiring this at fbtb, but didn't realize it was made by one of our own. Though, the glory hog in me, has to point out that the roof technique isn't exactly new... Steve

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Athos replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It looks to me like the aliens legs are made of the same crappy quality plastic as the rest of the figures have been. That would suggest to me that photos are real. Steve -
Good work making it look pyramid-esque, without having a bunch of slopes. Steve

Favourite Series 1-3 LEGO Minifig Collection?
Athos replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I went with the Spartan. A greek set would be super cool. Steve -
Has it really been 8 years? Seems not that long ago. Well, I guess another 8 years or so and I'll have had equal time with the new colors as I did with the old... It is still a sore subject to me. If they'd have stayed the same I'd have at least twice as much grey, dark grey and brown bricks as I do now, because my collections of these colors would not be divided between the old and new. I also don't like that there were a few key parts (the 1x6x2 arch) that we never got in old dark grey. And there are a lot of parts in the new colors that we don't have yet either. Though, I mostly build with the new colors now. Mostly this is due to the timing of the color change. At the time, I was in college and law school, so most of my bricks were stored away at my parents, so I only had the new sets I bought. I recently just got back into my stored collection, which is a bit of a mess, so, until I feel like sorting, its new colors. Also, most of my MOCs are all done with new colors, so to keep them consistent with each other, I stick with the new colors. The new colors have grown on me a bit. I still think they look more metalic than stone though. And, I'd rather not have had the dichotomy in the first place. Steve

That's practically heresy to all the castle people who have been waiting 20 years for a second chance at a pitchfork... Steve

I still think it looks a bit like a turkey... Steve

The thing that interests me the most about this set is the little 1x1 round brick with the emperor printed on it. And I'm certainly not going to drop $400 on a set, just for that... It looks cool, but its not for me. I'd much rather have the Death Star. Steve

I can't remember the thickness, but I really like that plate. Its perfect for a little seaside village MOC. You can kind of see the thickness in that picture. Steve

Next "Adventurers" Theme Ideas
Athos replied to Commander Keller's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
African Safari would be cool. Though its probably a bit too close to Egypt. South American jungle might be okay, but similar to PotC. South East Asia would be newer and potentially cooler (think elephants and Angor Wat). A American Western setting would be fun too; JR could look for the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine. Steve -
Just got this set Monday and I really like it. The barn looks great. The mill is nice too, if a little small/short. The animals and peasants are great. Definitely will have to snag another one of these. Steve

They made some curved window pieces a while back, maybe those could go on the corners. Though I don't think the corners look all that bad now... Steve

Guy in the US gets caught stealing 10K of Lego

Anyone we know? Steve -
The best advice I can give is just build. Its really the only way to get the hang of it. Look at other people's MOCs for inspiration ideas and techniques. Steve

That's a super cool tribute... even if it is only a sticker... Steve

Did I miss the part about the sound brick? I'm curious as to what it plays? Never mind, I see it now. That's kind of a disappointing sound effect. I was hoping for music of some sort... Steve

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Athos replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd be interesting to see how many of the early suggestions got made. I know I nailed a bunch of the series 3 figures when we were making suggestions for series 2 (pilot, hula girl and baseball player all come to mind). Steve -
I'm quite disappointed the farmer's face isn't double-sided. Though maybe Lego didn't want to make him look happy while getting probed. This set looks like a must-buy for me. I like the farmer's torso and the soldier's face. Steve

$70 is a bit expensive for this set. But it includes at least two new molds. Plus new printing on the horse and pig. And those are probably expensive to make. I'll definitely have to snag this set soon. Steve

Looks like fun. I can't wait to pick this one up. The house on the left looks a little narrow, but not terribly so. Steve

Great presentation. So good that I had to go back and look at the title to make sure it said D2C... Steve

I figured they were, which is why I didn't go with the detailed description. But I didn't want to read through 20+ pages of suggestions to see for sure. Steve
