Hobbes said he didn't need a solution. I think the point of this thread is to ask if anyone else has had these problems and find out how common they are.
-
I suppose "pal" is a "cool" way of saying "dude." anyway this is going to be great! wonderful thread *y* It is getting a bit 'heavy' in here, but it sure is funny. :-D

If you're courteous enough, I may send you some axels.(maybe even the right one) however if your'e 1 thankyou or please less than nessessary I'll warp them all! X-D

Is there anything on the invoice or shipping pakage that corrisponds at all or slightly off to the part number or description? Accidents will happen. It's just a matter of how many constitutes a real problem, but so far it's allready two; 1 on quality control and 1 on part replacement. Persistance will pay off, but what a hassle. *wacko* ps. don't forget to ask real nice and then start crying! :'-(

Stargate is the next best series to StarTrek, and since Enterprise was cancled, SG1 and Stargate Atlantis are the only reason to watch broadcast televsion anymore. I'm just glad that this franchise is popular enough to have lasted so long.

off with his head!

I find that to be the best method at least for me. Sometimes it'll be a year before I find inspiration to make modifications to a moc, but the suggestions made here motivate me to try new changes sooner. Even if they initialy seem undesirable, I'll at least try it, and possibly improve a moc greatly. On the other hand, don't feel obligated to to use all the suggestions if they detract from your desired outcome. It is important for it to take the shape you want, but the primary goal is to have fun. X-D

I think Hermione is my favorite *wub* I may try some more later as I am without a reliable camera for a week. I'll be sure and post em if I do :-)

I suppose it would help to designate some guidelines. Any lego product or specific line of products because I had douplo and a fabuland set before system? I just don't remember the exact sets though. I just guess the game aspect wasn't obvious to us or at least me. I'm geussing just list and rate your first memorable set? ps. I added a rating to my previous post and the only pic I found was probably to large to post here

I esp. like the splashes (the sinking ship and cannon impact) *y* And the seagul is a great idea. ;-) I'll have to try my hand at that. I just love the 'brick built beasts.' MicahBerger brought me out of my most recent lego slump with his awesome beasts.

My first nondouplo and first lego set that I can remember was 6880 I was 5 at the time. That was such a great set. *y* It alone spawned my ongoing love affair with lego *wub* NAME: surface explorer YEAR: 1980? RATING: *skull* *skull* *skull* *skull* *skull* out of *skull* *skull* *skull* *skull* *skull*

I don't know. It could have easily been any of them. I came across some nba sets at a discount store a while back. I tought they would be nice for some diversity, and the spring legs work well in castle themed tournaments similar to the Ultimate Lightsabre Duel.
-
Yes, you could call it the helm as the ship's steering mechanism or a manned position. If it was detached it would be reffered to as a wheel.
-
I think a hinged back wall would be nice, and a few extra touches such as a powder magazine(stacked barrels) and cannons piled by the cannon turrets. Overall, it captures the essence of an imperial fort very well. *y*

I just removed the seaweed, although it all could fit into the shell if you wanted to make a "pod" of it. I did try Pippin's head with Hermy's hair, but I'm partial to redheads. *wub* I was not a big fan of Jarjar, but initially that is why I was willing to risk defacement with custom paint. I used sharpie markers and coated it with clear lacquer or fingernail polish works just as well (markings may bleed slightly until dry). Furthermore, I tend not to be limited to films character potrayal of these licence minifigs. If you find a figure asteticaly pleasing or useful you can imagine it has any personality you like. That face is Mary Jane from any spiderman set in which she is in.

mermaid with hermoine's face here are a few other possibilities; this face is from a from a stewardess, under distress, and best of all.... vote on your favorite!
-
Yes it is. I knew Leia had a pirate application in someway. As it turns out, this is it. I was thinking of changing the face to a yellow hermoine....opinions on that? The clam's bottom valve is the lower half of the balloon from (5988 Pharaohs Forbidden Ruins) The top valve is allmost entirely made of the tan bricks from (4507 designer set) tan hinge plates hold the slopes together and tan teeth help space the distal ends.
-
This is an expansion of the mermaid moc thread. I thought this was an obvious minifig moc but no one seems to have done one yet. and here is the giant clam on which she sits/stands. I only spent about 10mins on it but think it is cool enough to keep. I think the closed clam looks better on it's own. The mermaid is eventually going to be a ship's figurehead anyway.

I took a deconstruction pic to attach the wedges I used the modified plate with 2 studs on top and 4 hollow studs at 90 degrees. I ordered a bunch of cannons from bricklink last year that had crossed cannons on the barrel. I'm sure it was used in the western sets. Not sure if it was in any pirate set? It is a no spring nonshooting type though :-(
-
I'll make deconstruction pictorial soon(within a couple of days). I,m attending a wedding today. It's not at sea or anything, but the rececption is beach themed.
-
Most of my mocs are are of a nautical nature, but not nessesaraly pirate, imperial or islanders. I'm curious where we should draw the line here? for exp. the chinese junks (the chinese certainly had pirates but I don't consider these part of the pirate theme. Or the sea life such as my version of the kraken... operlaping into vikings but can be used in a pirate moc. And ships like cogs or Biremes...should they be posted as threads within 'LEGO History & Adventure' or 'Your Own Creations'? Concerning the mermaid I'll post a thread as soon as I have some more pics, likley tomarrow.

This was the first minifig moc I thought of when I saw the merpoeple set. I've had made the minifig moc a while ago, but made the shell vig for this post. I'll most likely use her for a ship figurehead.

I had created the the dock for an harbor idea I had earlier but never got around to it. That is why it is a bit high for the river runner. I just threw it in for no particular reason.
-
Here is a few more shots of the river runner. aft view capsized next to a turret I'm working on comming in to dock

I did mean appropriate as in suitable or more becoming. I've never heard of lego having apricot color so it didn't occur to me either. Colors have many different names, but I usually go by the bricklink names
