  1. You're in. Yes, you'll see an extra forum on the forum overview page.
  2. A very realistic scene with the natives offering the foreign "visitors" gold while the Spaniards want to convert them to Christianity (and take their gold at the same time :-)). The design of the cross is simple, but it looks good. Now I want some of those Indy native figs for my collection!
  3. Your access is granted! Welcome in the academy.
  4. This has the potential to become one of the best ships ever build on standard hulls. The proven colors schema looks great and I like all the details in the stern. I might borrow the idea of the toilets in the bow of the ship (next to the headrails). As constructive feedback, I feel the blue line in the middle (where it is most narrow) looks a bit too narrow and I probably would have put some black or brown railing instead. I'll be monitoring your progress for sure as I'm working on a very similar project. PS: I've resized your pictures (max advisable on the Internet is 800x600), we have some tutorials here. Especially the batch resize tutorial would be a good one to study since you're interested to join the little project by myself and CGH ;-)
  5. Our Fellow Norro finished the next installment of his amazing "Entrance to the Caves" series: Discuss here.
  6. It must have been a hell of a job to make this snowy mountain look this realistic. This is a very worthy next installment for the "Entrance to the Caves".
  7. Nope, it's about an official set, so the thread is at the right place. If I make a WIP thread for my ship it'll be another one.
  8. Recently, our pirates forum has become even more active with lots of post and new topics. MOCs haven't been able to get their fair share of the first page spotlight, so after much discussion, the pirate staff have decided to create a new subforum to showcase all of your pirate MOCs! So now our pirate MOCs and MODs have a special place, while all other pirate discussion can be made in the main pirate forum. So what are you waiting for?
  9. I'm building mine on standard hull pieces. The scale will be what I call "minifig simulation scale" It will look like minifig scale, but yet it is a not (kinda like La Mort Royale). Not easy
  10. I'm using the HMS Vanguard as a model for my ship. I only found the 2 impulse sets (this one and the pirate with the fish on a stick). No bigger pirates sets spotted so far in Belgium. Ah yes, good point. I ordered 13 normal heads (without beards) on BL. It a shame these are coming with beards. Can't help you there P. I didn't find any of the cannon sets yet in our stores.
  11. I've been building my new English ship-of-the-line for some time now (I might post some WIP pictures in the coming weeks) and was planning to use the new imperial soldier as marines. When I went shopping yesterday evening, to my surprise, I saw the new impulse sets in a toy shop and immediately bought a bunch of them. It feels good to finally have them in my hands
  12. For torso's you could take a look at our library where we have a large collection. It would be great if you could reproduce a scene for Waterloo with Lego and take pictures. Annually I'm visiting the Waterloo battlefield. Have you been there already? You feel very much connected with the history of that place when you walk over the fields to La Haye Saint and Hougoumont. Flags are available on this website. They are the right size for minifigs, so no need te resize.
  13. Your army is most impressive! Are you planning to add flags to the regiments?
  14. Thanks Teddy, that helps a lot! There reason I got confused is seeing this picture from Captain Green Hairs ship "La Mort Royale" based on the French ship Le Protecteur. It is also a 2-decker but it's almost 30 years older than the one I'm constructing (from 1760). Gallery La Mort Royale.
  15. I'm building a ship that's rather similar to the HMS Vanguard (a third-rate - 2 gun decks - ship of the line of the Royal Navy, build around 1795). My question is about the position of the steering wheel. Right now I've put it on the poop deck. I'm doubting if that is historically correct. Maybe the quarter deck is a better place to put the wheel? Or are both places suitable for putting the ships wheel? I know the Victory's wheel is under the poop deck, just in front of the mizzen mast so I start doubting if my wheel is at the right spot.
  16. Noooo... That's bad news, especially for a Star Trek fan like myself. I was planning to watch again all the SW movies in the near future, I'll definitely look at The Wrath of Kahn with different feelings now I know this sad news.
  17. Congratulations Vice Admiral Zorro!
  18. It seems the information in this thread is incorrect or at least doesn't contain details (like which shop lowered their prices). I'll close this for now. Please let me know more details via PM and I'll consider re-opening this thread.
  19. Seems like you have a lot of good stuff you could use for your reviews! Access granted!
  20. You guys certainly have a point there and I might change the decks at some point in the future. I still kinda like the red decks because it's a Lego ship, but they are not very accurate (historically). Yes, that was annoying me too. I've worked hard to make those sails, but indeed they seem a bit lifeless. A few days ago I found a very simple way to make it look like there was some wind in the sails. I'll make a picture to show the result.
