Hi folks. what is masonite ? im thinking of making landscape to my fortress and i wanted to have some height so this look intr.

Ive made my armed forces up from both IG and IS. IS are colonyal troops(blue ia a cheap color in my colony) Ive divided them into 4 regiments Is a royal guard regiment from back home. is a regiment from the new world. it defended the prince against a spanish raid and has been given the honor of calling them selves guards and wear the guard hat. is also a Colony regiment. as normal soldiers or grunts is my naval force. the red one is the royal marines and the blue are the officers in the navy. midtshipmen or cadets doesnt have eaupalets at all. all other navy officer have yellow Eupalets. with red bandana is my "uniform" for the crew on naval ships. I fight against pirates in my world. and the spanish too. so i can use the men as i want. but i dont think lego had any other idea other than separate the figures so children could make different teams. just like in the castle lego. or almost every lego theme. but if someone want the blue ones to be from Sahara and the red one from deep sea thats their choice, thats what make lego so fantastic :-D

Aaaaargh Why is you so much better than me when it comes to builing *sweet* Great models. Love the legomalee. that name reminds meof some ship. do you take the name from a real ship and "relego" it ?

Nice ship . i like the color and the huge number of guns.and the sails are very good i think. *y* it look a kind of old style to me with the high forecastle, do you have any timeperiod of it? but i can really see this as a flagship, a bit old but this is would be a ship of the line as i see it. and ill guess a suitable ship for a commander to use as flagship. If i was to mentioned one thing i didnt think look very good, it had to be the cannons. as i think they are to close. no chance any gun crew can operate around them. but thats only a small thing. lego isnt quite natural when it comes to space and sizes. a good ship :-)

Thanks for the tip on the sails ZCerberus. I'm working on plans for sails and rigging. but i cant agree with myself on whats looking best. to have rigging like on a real ship is just to much. i think ill have to make some mix between tlc style and the real style, because if i was to make a correct rigg i wouldnt have enough space on the ship. im working on plans for the ship and the fort now. and when im going home this weekend ill try them out. maybe ill have some new photos after that. this ship was the BSB in the first place. but all thats left is the bow now. or parts of the bow. the rest is buildt up as my own thing. i added the smaller stay sails just to get a wiew of how it would look. its true its from the other ship(wich i didnt buildt myself, but bought on ebay and only modified a bit. )

I have Thats a good book i think. a lot of drawings and photos/painting from the navy during the napoleon time

Sorry mr Bonaparte. But i've been to busy with my hous and also been on a manouver in the military so havent looked at my lego for some weeks. Hopefully that will change :-$ As for the cabin. i wanted to have cannons pointing backwards and i just couldnt make it look good with cannons in the cabin. so i buildt it as low as i could and i liked what i got :-D . im not sure if thats the last version of the cabin but i like the one i have now. got the idea of the cabin from Parick O'Brian's book, First Command were HMS Sophie was buildt like that. but thanks for positive coments :-) Bj

Thanks mr Phes :-$ i dont know why i choose black. perhaps because as you say most imperial forts are white. but i have begun to think about putting in some other colors. to get away some of the over color feeling of black. perhaps by using plants or other such things. I also have Eldorado fortress and that together with a moc island on a similar baseplate (from eldorado set) that will be mostly white so i have some thinking to do before i get it complete. my dream is to make a whole world with my fortress,my ships, my eldorado ,custom island and my pirate area

I know the color is wrong. but i dont have enough black rope to test with. have to save that for the finish. the blue rope is of a kind i use to fix my father's fishing net's. so next step would be for me to build something to fasten the ropes to. and when the standing rigging is complete ill go on with making sails.

Hi Bonaparte. a hint can be to read on wikipedia. just type "Ship of the line " and you will find ut about all you need. If you want to build a ship of the line you can start with these links Ship Brig Ship of the line with those 3 links you should be able to find your size and rate . but remember. this is lego. you can just say that your moc is a ship of the line or a frigate or what you want it to be :-D

How much stays or ropes is enough on a lego ship? i've tried to put on some stays for my masts but do it look good? never mind the knots as this is just testing. do it look good or is it to much or to little or?

Ive tried different kind of snor building but didnt like what i got. so i tried with just normal building. tried to make bastions on my fort.

Ops. you're right Mr Tiber :-$ . i got so hung up by the sliding that i didnt see that. have to try again i think. but what you think of the size of the barrel. to big or?

Now ive started to add some ropes and shrouds to the standing rigging. just for a test. can see some of it here Tha shroud on tha mainmast is actually half of one of the smaller shrouds . had one that was broken so i cut away that and the rest look quite good actually. need to buy a lot of black ropes. to make stays and backstays for the masts.

I've tried to make me a carronade this weekend. its just a prototype i kind of like the big barrel i got. have to paint it black but i think it could work. a bit refitting to look better yes but i like it.

Sorry mr Phes. but my camera ran out of power before i could take any new pics of the fortress. ive been thinking and looking for the rigging of my biggest ship and was taking pics of that and a attempt of making a carronade when it go into black. and of course, my charger was here .. what im working on right now on the fortress is making the south/west corner into a bastion. thats the corner to the left on this pic. by building a sort of round or at least not in same direction as the rest of the fort. but i dont agree with myselv of how i want it. . will try again next weekend . i also tried to build a round wall like that of helms deep but i couldnt get it to be round. it look like it would take a LOT of 2x1 bricks to do that. plus the wall would be to thin for me. But a great fort that Helms deep :)

what im upto? hmm, not easy to say. i always liked fortress and fortifications. and had a lego fort as long as i can remember. first one was with only one wall in every color. hade no new legomen and no weapons. had to make everything then. that outpost evolved into a fortress buildt on a old 50x50 baseplate. fro then evolved into tha fort i have now. now build and change it when i get an idea of things to make it better. I dont have a plan of how it will look in the end. i want it to be a big fort, defending a harbour. but im not sure how it will look in the end. dont have enough place in my house now to get it all together. This weekend i try to rebuild it but after several attemt i didnt find any better look than i have. So Mr Phes. i dont really have a plan with my moc. im just enjoy building and show to other people what i've done so far. Bj

My fortress is already on 3 48x48baseplate so yes its big *sweet* Im not sure if i lik that form of wall. look better on a castle than on a fortress i think.. but ill give that a thaught too :) thanks :) thanks mr xenologer. ive already figured that yout my selves. *sweet* *proud *

Maybe this is something mr Evil Villy can take a look at. or anyone else that are moderators or bosses here. could be that such a topic already exist. but i also think that would be a good idea. A topic where hints and tips can be desplayed. no discussion only hints and tips. like a lego wikipedia :)

This is what you ment right? Made that with MLcad. Tink i got the point or did i missed something? this can be used with every kind of brick or plate i think.

THANKS :-D Thats what i was looking for. *y* *y* i have a plan of making bastions for my fortress using this technique. think it will look better than only squared bastions . but also thank to mr ApophisV i will most likley get use for that too :) this should be in a sort of help topic. where people can find different hints of how to make things. I think i remember someone showed a moc where a house was "twisted" or angled compare to the baseplate. it used a lot of small plates to make it possble to get an angel between 0 and 90 compare to the baseplate. does anyone have info of how to build like that? i need to use that in some plans i have for my fort Bj

Hi. not sure this is the best part of the forum to post in but didnt find a better one. is somene here sitting with a complete list of .dat files for a minifig? i start using mlcad this week and really enjoy making models with that. but i cant get all the files i need to make a complete minifig. if i try to add let say the torso witch on lugnet is named 973.dat i get an error. my mlcad program cant find the s\973s01.dat file. and when the torso is loaded its only back and front. no sides . and also the legs are very thin. about 1\3 of the thickness of a normal minifig leg. Is there anyone that can give me some help i would be grateful. Bj

In these days with pirate movies and other pirate stuff everywere i still miss PIRATES in lego. every kid have or will pley pirate some times. they could more stoped some of the more unpopular themes.

Thanks. i found that out myselves *proud* *sweet* but as i've tryied MLcad(as the ldraw i use) i see some strange by the minifig. it look like a hollow man. no sides on the torso and the legs are paperthin. does anyone have a dat file with a good minifig. its more easy to see prop. if i can set in a minifig.
