  1. Thank you, Kmoi and DV. You guys are m'heroes, and stated it perfectly :)
  2. Or, you could google "teen relationship advice forum" or something, and keep your talk on this forum strictly related to the little ol' :-) guy's we love. And, it is my opinion that having an 18+ age limit on a forum for Lego's is pure sillyness.
  3. I'm with the Brick Miner on this. Anyone remember the days of pre-2000 - all those old system sets, like wild west an' ninjas an' adventurers? You could put those on display jus' as easily as play with 'em. THATS what I would like to see out of Lego - This set comes close, but is not quite there. Then again, this is the closest any System line has come to acheiving that standard in 7 years... If my happyness over this castle series were to have a theme song, it would be "Hot Pants" by Bobby Byrd. In all seriousness, I think this series is a HUGE step in the right direction. The Vikings were kinda getting there, this is really great, so who knows, maby next year we'll finially see some classic lovlieness.
  4. I was reffering to the overal look. Plus, the 2001 torsos are no where near as massive as the Piraka torsos are.
  5. I'm going to take this set into my room and make sweet monkey love to it. ... or was that too graphic? Anyway, Skeleton Ship notwithstanding, this is easily my favorite 2007 Castle set. Hail Lego for a System line that doesnt suck!
  6. I guess the difference is is that the 2001 Toa arent gangly, horribly colored, alternatingly scrawny and bulky with massive parts, and dont have ugly two-toned masks :P
  7. Tram Trains meets Napoleonic Europe. I like it! :)
  8. First, I said the Hordika were the worst canister sets ever. Their suckage was out-sucked by the Inika. And now these... these... things ... make the Inika look like the pinnacle of all LEGO Building sets.
  9. Or just befuddle Maori words so they still sound Maori-cool without pissing anybody off. The whole "double letter" stuff like Lesovikk is really startin' to get t'me.
  10. Meanwhile, a contact of one of your eight Mandalorian Supercommandos has unearthed a very intruiging video. Deeming it to be of great signifigance, one of them sends the transmission to you personally, as it involves the late Sith Lord, Darth Maul.
  11. Eh, not really a joke on my part. You see, I do not dislike Greg Farshtey himself, and I do admire him for his dedication and endless enthusiasm/interest to his job, as well as putting up with interacting with the BZP community year after year. However, I do not think he is all that talented at writing. Sure, he can make a short, entertaining tale, and write a mean comic book. But thats about it. When it comes to something as large as the Bionicle Mythos, his skills are completely unsuited for it. TEMPLAR treated the fledgling Bionicle world as a mythology; Greg treats it as a comic book world where anything goes. The less free reign he has, the better his writings become; the more free reign he has, we get 3,000 Toa, an entire species of Makuta, and random islands like Xia. BIONICLE needed someone who could write a mythology, not someone who thinks that just because Bionicles are in multiple colors they should be treated like every generic superhero storyline. As for BZP and EB, I am a four-year veteran of BZP, but, for actual conversation and discussion, I prefer EB. Its a much smaller, more personal community, and good discussion is pretty much guarenteed. You dont have collosus' like Bonesii who will come in, twist everything you say out of proportion so that you are in fact saying what he wants you to say, and then debunk you as being completely wrong because everyone except him is completely wrong without exception T_T. I enjoy the large art community on BZP (though I get a bit irritated with them at times), and theres a much wider range of Bionicle discussion there. Each forum has its strengths; I go to EB for freedom of speech. Just my 0.00. - The Admiral
  12. I know he wrote the 2001 comics. Im good with that. They were fine, and had the highest level of art we've seen. However, MNOLG I was NOT written by Greg. As he told me himself via PM, he had nothing to do with the web content what-so-ever back then.
  13. *sigh* Fine. The story certainly isnt going in the direction of Bleach. The characters are bland, the powers... lame (Who thought of a stone-lightning mix?!) and the villians... meh. As I said, you just arent afraid of them. And stuff like the two plot device Zamor's really nails it :P
  14. Aye, I once met someone at the racetrack named Lewa, though it was pronounced "Li-wah"
  15. Theres a single flaw with your logic. No he didnt. @Starwars4J: I see where your coming from, but you're still missing the point. The powers are well thought out, do not incorporate lasers, and the villians ARENT more powerful because the writer simply says "they're more powerful". They actually have thought put into their powers. Furthermore, Greg believes that the only way to develope characters is to have them sit around and talk. Bleach proves this is completely wrong. As Ichigo advanced through different fights in the Soul Society arc, his character developed. Basically, if finesse is what you want, it certainly aint the direction Bionicle is going in - It's goin' in preciesly the OPPOSITE direction.
  16. All hail TEMPLAR; May they forever outshine Greg.
  17. While I am not really a City junkie, I would just like to throw my personal opinion in on set construction style. I personally like Cafe Corner and have concidered buying it once or twice just because it looks so nice. Basically, I prefer this building style over the normal city sets - Particularly the new ones. The newest city stuff look like knockoffs of their old (late 90's) City sets, and poor ones at that. While I liked the old ones, the new style just seems cheap, whereas the Cafe Corner style looks nice and is a real building experience. Feel free to ignore :)
  18. Greg Farshtey isnt a storyline writer. He's a talentless hack ;) I was mostly just reffering to him as a bionicle name due to his involvement in Bionicle.
  19. I know! I know! Greg Farshtey
  20. Lesovikk "Less o' Vikk with th' double K that has no purpose!" Oh, wait, I forgot - adding double letters ALWAYS makes names origional and cool!
  21. I'm a long-time Break.com veteran. I've been visiting them for over three years now - and thus put no stock in the Break.com commenters. Try it; if you so much as attempt to comment on a video, your IQ drops 50 points. The only problem with this, Jinzo, is that if pretty much everyone thinks and says that, we wont have new technologies ;) And for all our bashing on France, they're *FAR* ahead of us on developing alternative energy. They have trains that can outpace jetliners and run off nuclear energy; the emmisions are 0, theres no radiation threat, you can melt your nuclear weapons stockpiles down to run it, and a single 100-pound container of it is equivalent to over a hundred tons of Oil. Give me a while and I'll dig up a few news articles on this... - Helden the "Frontier Psychiatrist"
  22. Another point I would like to bring up, and would like to cross-reference it with the anime and manga series Bleach (Whos basic story style is VERY similar to that of BIONICLE) is that we no-longer fear teh villians strength. Basically, when it was the Rahi, you were afraid by the sheer brawn of those Rahi beasts that on their own could damn near kill a Toa and were practically unstoppable when they teamed up. In 2002, the Bohrok were so strong that, in one of the books, just two Nuvok could overwhelm Onua. In 2003, first the Bohrok Kal deprived them of their power, and then the Rahkshi proved unstoppable. Those were enemies you could fear. The flash vids on Bionicle.com gave the Vahki a very inhuman and distinct feel, which I still like. The dark hunters could have been better portrayed, but ah well. The Visorak were kind of a Bohrok repeat, but meh. They were still interesting. And their leadership - Roodaka in particular - was EXCELLENT. Then we get to the Piraka. No real character other then the stereotypical "Im evil! Grr!". A *TON* of powers that usually got easily defeated/bypassed (Laser eyes? Come on...). They defeated the Toa Nuva in an un-spectacular battle, and then got beat in every battle against the untried Toa Inika. Now the Barraki are out, but with fewer powers then the Piraka yet still lacking in the fear-factor. You know that once Kongu comes in with both guns blasting, they'll all die and that'll be the end of it. You already KNOW the good guys are going to kick Evil's megablocks; theres nothing to make you wonder "How are the heroes going to get out of this one?". Now, in the Hollow arc of the Bleach storyline, the average evil-spirit Hollows were enough to provide the main character, substitute Death God Kurosaki Ichigo, very difficult battles. When a Captain and Vice-Captain Death Gods appeared, they damn near killed Ichigo. Through the Soul Society arc, Ichigo trained up and eventually acheived Bankai, the ultimate form of mastery of their Soul Slayer swords. He went on to defeat Kuchiki Byakuya - the Captain that initially nearly killed him - with his Bankai. Then, when the Arrancar - Hollows that have attained Death God powers - attack in the following story arc, Ichigo faces the 6th most powerful Arrancar, Grimmjow Jaggerjack. Arrancar, like Death Gods, can release their swords to become far more powerful, and the 10 Espada (of which Grimmjow is the 6th most powerful) are far more powerful then the rest. So, the first time Ichigo takes a swing at Grimmjow, Grimmjow blocks the sword blade with... his pinkie. And for the rest of the battle, proceeds to take on Bankai Ichigo bare-handed - And he's the 6th most powerful Espada, and the 3 Traitor Captains above the Espada are far more powerful then *them*. THAT makes you think, "What the hell?! All these powerful characters we've been following for, like, two years are nothing compared to these guys! How can they win?!" If you've made it so people can actually care about the characters - which I dont really think Greg has - then this has some serious drama effect, and is why I have been following the current Bleach storyline religiously :)
  23. While Sayger IS a very talented artist, I personally preffered the style (and story, because there was some) of those 3 2001 comics. Just personal preference, though. As for what Jinzo said about the manga, I agree with you completely.
