  1. For those who have built this set up I have a question, when pushing it along the floor so that the wheels turn and the engine pistons move has anybody had the rod and gear behind the engine come off and stop the pistons moving? I had this over the weekend and it took me quite a while to find the problem, please see the photos below. What I found with mine: What it should look like: Parts removed to fix it:
  2. I purchased 8069 on the weekend, built it in an afternoon. Seems like a good model but some of the functions don't seem to work as well as I was expecting. Paul
  3. I really like these types of trucks and I have had some basic plans for quite a while but I have never really had the time to develop one to a stage I am happy with, this thread now has me more interested so I will be doing some more work on this. Paul
  4. Very nice work with this, looks really good. Paul
  5. Does anybody know of any good suppliers for older Technic sets? Paul
  6. I have now found a local forum and Facebook group which have a few local members :)
  7. Excellent topic, I had never done with with U-joints until 8070 so now I am learning all about them. I can see some of my MOC's where this information will be handy. Paul
  8. Thank you for the replies, I might build it up over the weekend to test. I will post my results. Paul
  9. Excellent review, I love the photos. This was one of my all time favourite sets for quite a long time. Paul
  10. I don't have that model myself so I can't give any "first hand" advice but I would be checking the gearing as it sounds like it is jamming for some reason, any chance you could upload a photo or video so we can see what I happening? Paul
  11. Very well done, I love the opening / lifting top feature. Paul
  12. Amazing level of detail in this, very well done. Paul
  13. Some very cool trucks in that clip. Paul
  14. Sounds like a good challenge, I quite like cranes and think they work well in Technic. I can't wait to see what ideas people come up with. Paul
  15. I was thinking last night about how strong Lego is and what sort of loads (physical and rotational) something like a Lego Technic engine could handle. For something like the standard engine below what sort of RPM's do you think it could handle and what parts would break first? I might build up one and run something like an electric drill just to see, has anybody done this before? Paul
  16. Really good work with this, looking really good. Paul
  17. I can report all fixed now, one of the gears was not aligned right, all ok now. Paul
  18. Tonight I have made some changes to 8070, now as the hood open it also runs the engine. Look at the video and photos below to see how I did it. I can still easily change it to just open the hood and I can also get it to turn turn the rear wheels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdgcfjMJWzk Paul
  19. Does anybody have a Ldraw file for this set? Paul
  20. I am telling more and more people about it as I go on, I post some of my photos on FACEBOOK so anybody I know on that can see and knows. Paul
  21. While building this did anybody find they were short one blue slotted pin? I was but lucky I had some spares in my parts bin I could use. Paul
  22. This looks really good, very much like the original :) Paul
  23. These are all really amazing, very well done. Paul
