  1. Being from the "old school" back when we only had the pneumatics I have a soft spot for them but in recent times I can see the benefits of LA's and think both have a place in modern Lego Technic sets. Over the weekend I built sets with both and found they are both enjoyable to build and use. Paul
  2. That looks really good to me, well done. Paul
  3. I purchased 8053 on the weekend and built it up, so far I quite like it and feel it was a good build and looks good. Paul
  4. I meant "anybody else" as in anybody other then me :) Models would have to be mostly complete and I would not accept models with large amounts of parts missing. My reason for offering this service is that I quite enjoy stripping down models and cleaning / repairing them. Paul
  5. Yes basically that is what I was thinking, I just don't know if anybody else would be interested in such a service. Paul
  6. I am thinking of starting to offer a service as below, do you think it would be worth it and would many people be interested in using such a service? Paul Lego Model Service Guide October 2010 This document outlines the standard service procedures and tasks I offer to undertake on Lego models (mostly Technic). This services is “free of charge” except for the cost of parts and return postage if required. Where possible good quality second hand parts will be used and these will be charged at 50% of the “new” part price, where new parts need to be used I will confirm the total cost with the owner first and charge the parts at cost price. Below I have listed as an example the tasks I would undertake on Lego Technic set 8436 1) Check overall condition of model and note any damaged / worn / missing parts. 2) Check front of cabin / frame and clean all surfaces, confirm steering works as expected, remove cabin and clean inside / outside of cabin. Check lights/ mirrors and replace parts as needed. 3) Test movement of wheels and function of V6 engine, confirm all pistons work and check diff / drive line / gears for correct operation. Clean all exposed surfaces. Remove engine block from frame and remove pistons / crank arms, clean all surfaces, replace parts as need. Examine transmission / drive line gears and replace as needed. 4) Remove front wheels and examine for signs of wear / damage, check steering linkage and gears, replace as needed. Clean tires / wheels and steering components. 5) Check front half of frame for signs of wear / damage, clean all exposed surfaces. 6) Remove rear wheels and examine for signs of wear / damage, check axels and replace as needed. Clean tires / wheels. 7) Check operation of turn table / crane arm. Note times for full operation. Remove turn table. Check for signs of wear / damage to turntable and replace as needed. 8- Check rear half of frame for signs of wear / damage, clean all exposed surfaces. 9) Check all Pneumatics including pump, cylinders and tubing for wear or damage, replace as needed. Clean all exposed surfaces. 10) Check arm for wear / damage, replace parts as needed. Clean all exposed surfaces. 11) Check rear of model / frame and clean all surfaces, check lights/ mirrors and replace parts as needed. 12) Rebuild model and clean all exposed surfaces not covered above. 13) Package up model to return to owner, arrange payment for any parts used.
  7. That is simply outstanding, well designed and built. It looks the part and appears to work well. Paul
  8. Yes I very much like it and recommend it. It is the first set I have had in almost 20 years with a motor so that is special to me. It works well and lifts a heavy load (Over 500g in that video) Of course it would be good if it has more motors and full remote control but then that would increase the price quite a bit. I have purchased a few sets over the last few months but have sold all of them as I didn't really like them, this one is a keeper to me. Paul
  9. I purchased this yesterday and built it last night, here is a video of it in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qalczcuCE9s Paul
  10. I had all of mine sorted but have now put them all back in to a single tub :( I was having problems keeping them sorted and it was getting hard to remember which tub had which parts. As I am mainly buying new sets at the moment to build up I don't need to get any parts out of my tub at the moment. Paul
  11. http://technic.lego.com/en-us//Products/new/8052.aspx I am thinking of buying this model, does anybody have it? does it work well and what do you think of it? Paul
  12. This looks like a really good turn out and some excellent models. Paul
  13. This looks really well designed and built, I like the way it has multiple attachments that can be used with it. Paul
  14. This sounds really cool, I would love to see some of the models that are entered. Paul
  15. This really like it works really well, excellent work. Paul
  16. I am hoping somebody on here has a MLCAD or Ldraw file of the 8265 set and would able to share it with me. I have search online but can not find one :( Paul
  17. Here are some photos of the changes I have made to this model to make it look better and improve the "playability" Paul
  18. I am really impressed with how Lego have handled this and I hope a "fix" can be found. I was also thinking about buying this model but now I will have to wait until the "fixed" model is released or TLC can find the faults and release a guide / parts to fix it. Paul
  19. Thanks for that. I might look at building up something like that and seeing how it works. Paul
