Very interesting, the boxes in my store in the US have quite a bit more detail regarding number of pieces, etc...saw it in the store last night, amazing looking set as was the Ewok Village and I can't wait to pick it up, but am going to hold off for the double points promotion.

Poptropica is an online game for kids although can be played by anyone. It is the brainchild of Jeff Kinney who actually started this along with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Both of the ideas resulted from an educational site called FunBrain which is targeted to help kids with math skills. Essentially you create a character and then travel to different islands to solve puzzles and beat the island for which you are awarded a medal. It's actually kind of fun and somewhat educational as there is an art island that teaches you about works of art and an invention island that goes into that type of thing, there is the skullduggery which teaches about buying and selling and such. With over 30 islands now, kids really like it. I would google it if you want to know more or just go play it once. Dr Hare is an island that is very popular, you have to go through and solve the puzzles to get to Dr Hare and defeat him. Minecraft is a bit beyond me but it also played by kids and adults and you essentially build stuff in big giant blocks. My kids love it, but I just didn't get the point of doing it online if I have Legos to do the same thing in real life.

I believe they have stopped production on MF at this point and just letting inventory run its course, that was what the manager at my local Lego store said anyway...very hard to find Train here in St Louis

This is great, my kids love poptropica and when I have done it with them, it is fun, my favorite is the skullduggery island with Captain Crawfish, but I think there are now over 30 islands...enough to have a long line of poptropica sets if they like. Was hoping they would hit 10K, with them and Ghostbusters hitting it, hope they can get licenses and get the products out there.

If they did that they could release Ecto with the 4 GB and slimer, then the firehouse with a Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and Janine (Annie Potts) and throw in the Sta Puft man there...there has long been talk of GB 3 but similar to Indy 4 the guys are getting too old to really do the parts and not sure it will ever come about, really do not need a GB 3 like Crystal Skull

great looking builds, I really like the J class engine, grandfather used to work on the Burlington Northern way back in the day

I just have to wonder how hard it will be for Lego to get the license...if they can go into Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures and work it out it should be good. There are GB minimates out there though...no idea if this would interfere.

My kids were super excited to see the comic con figures on ebay, always are, but they are super hero kids and both are girls...they can name every major super hero for both DC and Marvel and villains too...they know who Billy Batson is and how he says Shazam to turn into Captain Marvel...I did not let them see Man of Steel as they are both too young, but I am not sure they would know Spider Woman...still they were excited to see the Con figures, til they saw the price and knew they would never get them. Same thing happened the last few years...it's like window shopping at Tiffany's, you like to look but know you are not going home with the big diamond in the end. Most kids these days in the US anyway, know the Avengers, XMen, DC heroes and more from the Super Hero Squad show (my girls really want a Ms Marvel), Avengers, Batman and Superman animation series, GL and more...it's way better than the Super Friends we had as kids, although I would love to see a Wendy and Marvin myself. If the lowest age of SDCC is 12, that's nuts to do a SDCC exclusive for kids...heck even the monthly mini builds are 6-14. Our Wizard World local Con here in St Louis let's all ages in, my daughters had an absolute blast there last year and can't wait for this year...I know they have expanded and have cons all over the US now, I think Wizard World needs to convince Lego to jump on their Cons. They do Ohio, St Louis, New Orleans, Nashville, Austin TX, Portland Or, Philly, Chicago and NYC...the exposure at these Cons is just as big as SDCC.

great looking sets, will pick both of them up, but Sept 1 is a Sunday...interesting

Great looking building, really like the tram, excellent addition, my fave piece of furniture is actually the black desk, I also like the open concept, think it makes for easier visuals as well as if kids want to play with it, it's easier than plopping off a floor at a time, excellent job!

Thrilled this set made it to 10K, now for the actual set to come about, I picked up the DeLorean but still think the original Cuusoo idea was better. If they keep going on BTTF, they need to do that train that is on the site. GB, I think you have to do modular building with car...put this set out right, sure it will cost, but GB is very loved by a lot of folks...continue with StaPuft Man as well

Opera House is $320 USD but am also wondering when the UN will come out. I saw a couple posts about what folks would like to see, I second a Golden Gate Bridge, I live in St Louis and they have an Arch at our Science Center done by Adam Reed Tucker that is a bigger build but would be great at a $100 USD price point and it fits right in since it is all grey anyway, someone mentioned the Taipei 101, having been there, it's a cool building...really does resemble the takeout boxes stacked on top of each other. Surprised they haven't done smaller Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty, why not the Harpa Concert hall, it's right up the Lego alley with it's blocky structure Others: Singapore Gardens by the Bay; Chichen Itza, Yucatan Mexico; a mini London Eye; Roman Colosseum; Parthenon; and I am sure there are so many more... Sorry if this is not the right thread to discuss, am new and just excited to find an Architecture thread

Going back a few, Fuzzy, I have the camper van, it is a lot of fun to build and is compact so will fit nicely on a shelf or somewhere out of the way to store it...I had originally gotten the VW Beetle Charlotte a while ago and this compliments, but nowhere near the same size. The Beetle is huge, the camper is not...but the camper has a ton of detail. Minecraft is wildly different, my daughter loves this set and is patiently waiting til Sept but you are right, I can see this out of stock quickly just like the recent DeLorean, but the nice thing is the DeLorean was back in stock quickly so I would say get the camper since it is oldest for now. As to the other questions, my opinion is that Orthanc is displayed in our local Lego store and is really cool, I like it a lot but am saving for the Sydney Opera House although I am not sure where I will put it once I make it, likely going to build and tear apart cause I do not have any place to put it for now. Any of the modular buildings are great, have 5 of them (not the original 3) and purchased some streets to run along in front, makes a great display. Got the HH too but need to put it together, am going to pop it along on the end of the other modulars for that creepy house down the street. I only wish they would package 2 straight road pieces together instead of a straight and an intersection.

agree on both types of sets, especially Western...they do rerun Lone Ranger on a channel we get and watched a couple episodes, I can see how this would have been a cool show to my parents, but today's SPFX are just so much better Western would be cool though, gold rush set, wagon train set, more trains, western goods store modular, would love to see a saloon too but I am guessing that would be a no, barn with horse corral (Friends has this, why not Westernize it), Ranch house

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
Herky replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
My 11 year old daughter loves this line and has every Monster Fighters set...if you build and put all of them together, it makes a really nice motif, but I was a bit surprised that they have discontinued the line but understand it's a limited market...she was so hoping they would do some sort of Invisible Man set...great reviews and pics I have to say I personally agree with a lot of the comments...the car on Zombies makes no sense to me, a lot of ghosts, etc. -
Being new to this site, and the whole Lego online community, I am not sure if anyone has said this, but Doctor Who? I would love a Tardis with a mini Doctor...we now have 12 of them they could produce. Not sure how lengthy the line would be or exactly what all would be in it, Tardis, Dalek, Doctors, Companions...there are possibilities though the other tv show I would love would be a one shot, Happy Days with a set of Arnold's with all the characters...guess you could do the Cunningham house too

First post as I just found out about this site a few weeks ago, have used it primarily for information and find it to be a very good site. Here are my answers: What kind of AFOL are you? Collect for myself and kids, have collected a lot of themes (Architecure, Friends for my daughter, Pharoah series, Modular buildings, Cuusoo, Monster Fighters - oldest daughters fave, etc...also have a bunch of my sets from when I was a kid in the late 70's early 80's) Are you a member of a LUG? No, but I didn't know what that even was til I read this thread, discovered there is one in my area, but the page has viruses on it. Not sure I would join though as I am not super creative, just like to buy the sets and build them. Are you actively participating in your LUG? If yes, what do you do (e.g. helping out during events, making displays, etc.)? If no, what's holding you back? Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc.? If the answer is yes, where do you possibly see yourself contributing? Yes, I would be happy to do set reviews, especially the architecture series and cuusoo and modular buildings, excited for Sept 1 to get the Sydney Opera House, agree with the other poster who said do 2 modulars a year, been searching for Cafe Corner, Green Grocer and City Market for a while at a decent price. If the answer is no, what's the reason (e.g. lack of time, ...)?
