I purchased the AT-OT with Dropship for $169. They shipped it without a shipping box. So now I have a box with shipping labels, dents, tears and stains all over it. And sharpie markings as well. Warning, DO NOT BUY FROM Wal*Mart if you want a nice box! -
How much are bricks worth per pound?

Good Post above. $100 is a rip off, odn't do that to your friend, or he may no longer be a friend. I would get the money somehow and buy the lot, offer $400. Once you get the lot sort out 3 or 4 of the larger Star-Wars sets and sell them to pay for the lot. -

You can get the LEGO Star Wars Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker (10195) for $200 at Amazon. -
If unsure, I always go with the one that is closest to it's end of life. In this case, that would be Home One.

I you want to play, Home One. If you want to display AT-AT. For parts, I would go with AT-AT.

Cheapest sets to buy to get minifigs for core characters

Cool! If you want to buy new, this is my opinion as well. If it where me, I would buy the landspeeder now and then keep watch on craigslist for used LEGO. In a few months you should be able to find a bulk lot that has all the figs and many more. Edit to add: I had to laugh at the recommendation to spend $400 on a LEGO set for a kids just getting into the block. That is a LOT of money for most people. Also that sets a very bad precedence. Enjoy the many, many hours to come building with your son. -
I don't see how you could do this and save much space. As the flattened box would be very large, thin but very large. The inner boxes would have to be flattened as well. You would be better off just paying the full postage.

Are you located in the US? If so, how about $15 (shipping included)? -

how many of AFOLs play with their kids

I have 5 kids ages 9,7,5,4 and 4. We have about 1/3 of our pieces sorted, these are out of bounds to the youngest three. However, my oldest two have complete access to the sorted collection. We then have a tub of unsorted that we all, including the youngest can build from. Some other Rules: You can not break what you did not build. You can not use the sorted until you have sorted. Each kid has his/her own shelf to place their works in progress. No biting. No throwing. LEGO stays in the basement. (It was taking over the house at one point.) -
Way over priced. I have been getting lots off from craigslist for $3-$4 a pound. He will never get 20K. 5K tops. I agree that acquiring the bricks is where the fun is at.

This is on my long list of wants, anyone have a guess how much longer it will be around? On a related note is there a site that projects the end of LEGO sites?

...and it is gone. I hope you all got one.

How long is a set on the market?
Follows Closely replied to Maltem's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I bought an extra two last week, just in time. Amazon has some if anyone missed out on this set. Target.com as well. EDIT1: I added one to my cart, and then it was gone at checkout. So Target.com is done. EDIT2: Amazon just upped the price. -
I am aware of bricklink.com and brickset.com. I do not want to steal their data if LEGO has it publicly available.
-
I can trying to create a local database to mess around with. Does LEGO offer an export of all their pieces currently in production? Or I could even start with sets.

Yeah, I did not purchase. I have seen LEGO limit sets right before they are discontinued. -
I agree, MMV is a classic!
