Nex has no hands- his weapons are directly attached to the forearms. You could argue the lasers can be used as swords, but I doubt that is their main purpose.Nex 2.0 had one hand, 3.0 had two and this one has none. Oh the irony.
-
Thanks for the screenshots. Nex having the small torso is a good thing, as it's a sign of continuity from his 2.0 form (the 3.0 Heroes all had the wide shoulder torso, except Rocka and Bulk). Actually, so far, all Breakout Heroes kept the torso they had in their 2011 debut forms, except Evo and Bulk. Bulk definitely switched to a wide shoulder torso, which is without a doubt a good thing. The one who remains ambiguous is Stringer- he looks like he has the narrow shoulders torso, which I wouldn't mind (then again, I'm the one who changed almost all the torsos of his Heroes). Nevermind, he definitely has narrow shoulders. So it's like this: Wide shoulders: Breez (eh), Furno, Surge, Bulk. Narrow shoulders: Rocka, Evo, Stringer, Nex. I guess Stormer uses the large torso. I doubt he has a custom one or a new piece. XT4's laser shooter isn't a single new piece like I had previously thought- rather, it's two old pieces attached together: a 3M shell and one of those pieces. Once again, HF sets incorporate System pieces in creative ways! Forgot to add- at the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious, XT4 has a new torso. No doubt about that.

Now THAT is a video! So much for Speeda Demon and Stormer not being shown. Stormer XL: I love him. He looks very mighty and strong, far more than Rocka XL ever did. The printed pieces are gorgeus, although I would have liked if both legs were decorated rather than just one- then again, they're assymetrical so that would have required extra pieces to print. The feet are indeed new, which is weird for a large set, but I guess they will be reused in 2013- they don't look so big and they could work with canister sets too- bird-like villain anyone? Anyway, I have little to complain- the legs are a bit too small, but I think they work. The dark bley bones I dislike so much actually work for once. The sword is beautiful. My favourite Stormer so far, along Stormer 2.0. Speeda Demon (did I hear "Speeder Demon"? ): little to no complaints, this is a set I can't wait to get in my hands. I feel pedals for the bike are missing however. No yellow Surge swords, awww. I'd like to note Demon's torso isn't covered by a Hero 2.0 torso plate, but a lime shoulder armour shell, the same exact piece used on on Breez 2.0's right arm. Combiner: definitely the best 2012 combiner so far, along a few Winter ones I haven't tried building yet. I won't buy the estra sets to build it, but it is somehow inspiring. But I hope online instructions are published, it seems like a fun build to try out. I really like the wing-like armour from the bike being used on the chest, looks really great. And dat giant double-blade/wheel hybird weapon thing. Unlike many, I feel liking xt4 a lot. He looks so...alien, which very much fits with his weird name. Along the head and (likely, I think) the torso piece, he has another new piece in the laser shooter, which I think looks really nice and I hope to see in more colours. The only things I don't like are the excessive bley bones and the tubes connecting to the torso (I like tu tubes themselves and them being attached to the two weapons, but on the other end they should be attached elsewhere). Nex, not much more to add. I like him, aside from the ever inappropriate bley bones (IMO Heroes should have fully black skeletons, unless coloured bones actually contribute to the colour scheme unlike Breakout Breez). Shame about him not having a single hand. I see a loudhailer is used on his laser weapon, which I think is pretty clever. I wish the laser/antenna was tr. bright green, oh well. I really like his helmet. Bulk looks great. I like the chest printing a lot (which is colour is it? Looks almost like dark tan). Again, my complaints are the bley bones, along the excessive use of titanium metallic. The shoulder mounted blaster has a very weird colour scheme- the silver MTIS rocks, but it uses tr neon green lightsaber blades (they really don't look like they're tr bright green, which is really disappointing to me), dark bley and....dark tan? what the heck, Lego. The best thing about Bulk is that he actually looks bulky for once, but the colour scheme really needs some clean up for him to satisfy my tastes. Core Hunter...I don't know. I like his design (excellent back armour), but the head is so different from what I excepted. I thought (read "hoped") Lego had given up on eye socket-less heads/helmet after Waspix/Scorpio, but I was wrong. It looks unsettling, and not in a cool way. I will wait for better pics. Stringer- awesome! The tr blue torso has been finally confirmed, and it is glorious. I agree with those who said his helmet looks gunmetal- while I don't have the original helmet, I won't mind if this is the case- more recolours are always welcome. Voltix- nothing new to add.

Haha, I actually wrote "Factory" at first, then I played around with the link order and this is what happened. I don't know, I see no connection point at the sides. Maybe it has a ball joint above the alleged "two pegs area", much like a giant cladding shell. But where would that attach to?
-
It's definitely a different piece compared to Nex's/Voltix's shoulder armour. See here, where Stringer and Voltix clearly show their shoulders- you can tell they're different pieces, no doubt about that. Completely different design, and much bulkier. Edit: Oh, I forgot the bold. Purple doesn't look so good without bold.
-
I think Hulk's huge chest piece attaches via 2 pegs, like many Hero Factory pieces. The reason I think this is because it covers the upper part of the Hero 2.0 torso plate, which features two compatible holes. Coincidentally Hero Factory summer set Stormer XL uses the same combination (giant chest piece+Hero 2.0 torso plate), which I think further supports my theory.
-
Actually, Stringer does not use that piece, he uses another one that is seemingly unique to him. And to add to your list, Voltix uses it- both on the shins and on the shoulders. So does Ultrabuild Cap America.
-
So I guess it's confirmed- story wise, Thornraxx is summer stuff. I like that those 4 are going to have more story role aside from "Evading, messing with a planet, fighting with a Hero, losing and getting caught again". I wonder if Speeda Demon is going to follow that route.

Evo speaks without contractions in my headcanon from now on.

Well, the name and the overall look do kind of give the idea of a mass produced assassin drone thing.Unless you mean xt4 (or XT4? I have yet to decide which I like better)is full of good parts. Or..multiple copies of it can form a combiner model? God, that comic was hilarious. I don't know what's weirder- Gold BP, yellow Reapa, Surge 2.0 defeating Splitface, Rocka getting complimented on his upgrade, Stormer being there in his 3.0 form, Surge exclaming "Cool!"..yeah, lots of stuff to choose from. But I guess Evo and his stoic, gentlemanly reaction Aanchir posted takes the cake.

My main issues with Waspix were its wings and the fact it looked, at least to me, too humanoid. Thornraxx feels much more raw, bestial, and reuses the wonderful Gorast wings. And he has a gorgeous colour scheme. One very good thing about Savage Planet was opening the door to animal-like builds, finally breaking the "canister sets=humanoids" dogma Bionicle had trapped itself into. I'm very happy 2012 is continiung the trend with new, unusual builds like Thornraxx and Jawblade (I don't have him, but I like what I see from the pictures) and to a lesser extent Toxic Reapa and XT4. I bet 2013 will bring us even crazier things- with the new building system, anything is possible. You're right. It looked lighter than the claws on the other hand, but I guess that was just the lighting.I agree they did a good job with the colour layering, it's just I thought he had less black from the leaked pictures, and I got used to think of him as a mostly black figure. And I guess I'm not such a huge fan of black+bright red afterall, I prefer black being combined with dark red or brighter colours (like orange, blue, lime..).

Just saw the pic about Lilac shades- talk about confusion! Weird, the second link doesn't work on the post but I can see it as I'm writing here. That color spectrum is great! It's a shame some colours can't fit in the spectrum due to some of Lego's weird naming choices. I'm confused- you mean the same colour of Stormer 1.0's head? Or the colour of Toa Mata Gali's blue Kaukau? Because Stringer's head looks to be in the first colour, while his torso in the second one.
-
Nice idea, I actually tried to do something similar with Rocka's ammo belt since it has the same attachments as a Mahri tube. Still, you'd think that they would make use of every connection point in a piece during the year where said piece makes its debut.Weird thing about the animated episodes, indeed. Good to know. I always liked BZP's Toy Fair coverages. I don't see any link or picture. Maybe you forgot to put the link?No problems for the tl;dr! I actually thought Medium Lilac was something lighter, I didn't know Evo's lilac actually is considered to be medium. I think "Dark Lilac" would be much more intuitive, because it looks as dark as colours as Dark Red, if not more. Weird... What do you think about Stringer's torso? I initially jumped to "Yay, it's tr. blue!". But now I'm not so sure, the video quality isn't great. Still, Front's words would make much more sense since Earth Blue or any shade of Azure are pretty much out of question at this point.

Personally 3.0 was my least favourite, I just wasn't too hot on the animal-based Heroes. The villains were much more interesting, but I really didn't like Waspix and I never got Scorpio (something I'm thinking of rectify, at the very least for the many good parts he inlcudes). I loved Ordeal of Fire due to the simple, clean and highly customizeable Heroes, and I loved the Fire Villains with the exception of Parts Pack Fire Lord (whom I bought anyway).I'm 70% thorugh the Winter Breakout wave, and I can safely say it's my favourite constraction line since 2007 Bionicle. I'm still not sure if Summer Breakout is going to be as good as it is, but at least I can say I like it much, much more than 1.0 and 3.0.

I'm pretty sure it's the same colour the guy your in av uses, if you want a quick reference. Voltix may have some nice parts (included the great new shin guards on the shoulder), but the real star is Ultrabuild Joker- 2 3M shells, 2 6M shells and 2 shoulder armour pieces (the same ones used in Evo 2.0, Surge 2.0 and Breez 2.0). I hope the colour gets used even more in the future- I think a new Hero in 2013 seems like a nice occasion to use it again. To avoid going OT, Core Hunter's cannon's top half section looks like to be silver. While, colour-scheme-wise, it totally should be gunmetal instead (and that's one thing I would change about him, along the excessive red), I hope it actually is silver. If it weren't the case, the silver top half cannon would end up being included only on Stringer (while the lower half, at least, is included in Black Phantom too), it'd end up being too rare and that would be make me sad since I really want an extra one to use for something.
-
The main reason they're using this shade is because the "old purple" found in sets like the Nui Jaga was discounted due to quality issues. I don't have time to check, but dark lilac has actually been around for a while- the first time I saw it, it was on Danju (KK2) back in 2004. So they could've used it for Bionicle, I guess the so called focus groups didn't like it back then. I actually prefer it, too. It's closer to blue comapred to the old shade, which is great as I'm myself more partial to cold colour rather than the warm ones.
-
That sucks. I forgot how much time we had to wait for in the past years- I guess it's because I'm more excited for this wave than many Bionicle summer waves (and certainly more than HF 1.0 and 3.0). Actually, I think I haven't been so interested about Toyfair since 2007. @ King of Nynrah: Voltix is Dark Lilac- the same colour found in Evo 2.0 and in every version of the Joker.
-
So Voltix and Stringer were there, eh? They wasted a picture on Black Phantom when they could've photographed those two. Stringer does really seem to feature tr. blue. on the chest, fun! And I love Voltix so much. Bulk rocks, however I feel Core Hunter has too much red on him. The leaked pic made him look much more..eh, black-er. I wish the video quality was 720p or something, but still...can anyone make a screen of Voltix and Stringer together? Stormer and Speeda Demon were missing instead, unless they didn't film them. They don't seem to care much for HF (and for Monster Fighters, and most other themes), sadly. Please, tell me these spieletest people can't be the only ones who are going to do a report about about Toy Fair. They don't seem to care much for Lego. Was BZP invited?
-
Thanks a lot Aanchir! So you built him like Evo and Surge, right? Still, it gives a good idea of how the set is going to be. I'm going to take a look later, as I don't have LDD in the computer I'm using now. Core Hunter definitely has the 2012 Hero torso in black- take a look at the catalogue shot of him, you can clearly see the "belt" with the two holes that is unique to that piece. Speaking of that piece detail, I guess they tried to copy that belt-like accessory the Heroes wear in the movies, but I wonder about those two holes- are they ever going to use them?
-
That's nice, Aanchir. Could you post the LXF file, or at least send it to me? I'm not going to use it for MOCs- It'd help me for a few things I won't post. Also, I'm curous on how you attached the big shoulders/Nex 3.0 paws. @Omicron Squad Leader oh, I forgot that. Shows how much I cared for the Savage Planet wave.
-
Good point. These pics are from Toy Fair Nuremberg while the video was from Toy Fair London, am I wrong? Because Core Hunter lacked the ammo belt in the video. I wonder why they didn't post pictures of Stringer/Voltix/Stormer(/Speeda Demon). It can't be that they weren't shown there, right? That would be bizzarre.
-
Thanks! These pics are much better than that lousy video. I wonder about the torso printings- I'm VERY happy that their presence has been finally confirmed, but I hope they are unique designs- Nex's design seems awfully similar to Breez's. I was about to think "Nex and Bulk both have orange printing, booo!" Then I realized Furno and Surge both have yellow decorations, so it's cool. I'm kind of disappointed that Nex's weapon is nothing new- its body looked like a smaller, new piece but it actually is that highly detailed armour piece they used on the Fire Villains. And all those light bley bones on him and XT4- really, they could be avoided. Still, the white doesn't look so bad now, at least there's some orange on the torso. I'm kind of disappointed he doesn't have that shin armour on the left leg like on the catalogue- oh well. XT4- really, he looks great if it weren't for those light bley. They kill him...and so does that pose they put him in. Core Hunter looks excellent, and I'm very glad he has a black shield. Still, I'd love a bigger shot of him because I can't make much of his helmet. Bulk looks great too, it's just that he should have less titanium metallic and more silver- for example, on the upper legs. But at least he isn't ruined by weirdly coloured bones- he has a nice, clean, black skeleton, like all Heroes should have IMO (one exception are Breez's red bones, those actually contributed to the colour scheme.). I'm waiting for more shots of the others, especially of Stormer. And of Demon, if he was there.

They deleted a whole lot of pieces I needed too, like the lime viking horns (I don't want to salvage my beloved Nocturn for them) and the gunmetal Exo Force robot arms- and that's just the tip of the iceberg AFAIC. Maybe the 2011 parts hurt sales for Hero Recon Team- afterall, I thought I'd have never bought another one, but now I have to. But I guess Aaanchir's post on BZP explains it far better.
-
Really happy they updated Pick-a-Brick with the new HF stuff, but I din't except them to take away so much stuff :( I guess I'll have to buy another Recon Hero to get at least half of the stuff I needed, and I better hurry up too.

That would rock. We need more transparent cladding.
