I'm not sure if I would buy it, but I would download its instructions. It seems like you'd learn some great 2.0 system building techniques.
-
Worriz does include a tr. red version, actually. It's just that the piece isn't very transparent to begin with, like Breakout Breez's blades (check Black Phantom or Stormer XL), Furno's original fire weapons, etc. It looks more like bright red, but it's still pretty vibrant.
-
Indeed, that was the point of my earlier post.About the "prototype": it looks awesome. I wonder what's the plan behind it, because that surely wouldn't be released as a regular set, ever. It's like a Hero Factory UCS. The head can either belong to CH or Rotor. But the giant rotor blades (first time I saw those pieces- they're pretty awesome) suit Rotor way too well. I wouldn't mind updated version of the 2010 villains. Their looks and build already became obsolete in 2011, for obvious reasons.
-
That's it: we were talking about how Stormer looked slightly different in the show compared to the set (and he isn't the only one either). The visor design being one of the most notable differences.
-
Oh yeah, you're right. Still it's weird for him to have another set's printing like that. Really screams "prototype" to me. That's the the problem I have with most Heroes this year, and I finally figured out why. The limbs are about as nice looking as those of the Breakout Heroes, and the helmets with visors are awesome. It's the torso for me. The core clamps are a neat idea, and I do like the armour motif, but the colour scheme makes it fairly boring to me. Maybe if it featured more of the Hero's main colour and/or if it had transparent parts (like the viking horns, or a protective bubble/cockpit for the Core) it would have looked more exciting..

I like all-black skeletons on Heroes, but I too like to play around with bone colours with non-Hero characters: for example, my Splitface's skeleton is black on the mechanical (t. metallic) side and dark bley on the technorganic (red) side. Dark bley just looks more "organic" to me, I must have been influenced by the grey muscle-like bits the characters had in the first 3 Bionicle movies. Black feels more "out of factory" to me, which suits robots more. I gave in and watched most of the Brain Attack episode on YT (in Korean). Is it just me or some of the characters look prototype-like? Some of these things have already been noticed, but: Surge's visor clearly isn't printed, his secondary colour really looks like tr. yellow and his weapon is built slightly differently, Bulk's shield is silver and has a motif, Stormer's visor isn't printed either, his flick missiles use Chima crystals and his sword is tr. blue, Dragon Bolt's brain is blue and his tail is longer. Some of these can be justified as the usual set to show changes (glowing cores, back armour, etc..), like Dragon Bolt's tail, but I don't see the point of removing visor printing or changing colour schemes. I think the Breakout episode had some traces of this too, for example Surge's lightning was yellowish green instead of blue, just like the prototype. Oh, and Breez's Korean voice is hot.

Thanks! So you put that bone on the crotch area just to fill it, pretty clever- too bad my mod already uses the crotch ball joint for something else. Nice idea about the cape, too. Finally, you replaced all the bley bones with black ones: personally, I don't do it to large sized figures (that includes XL Heroes) since there always are the dark bley friction joints anyway, but I do like my standard size Heroes with fully black skeletons (except cases where non-black bones work, like Stringer for obvious reasons, Breakout Breez and Breakout Nex). That's perfect, thanks. The Scarox head is just the right size for my MOC idea. I'd love to do this, but my BA Rocka is destroyed ATM. And Furno XL is sort of..unrecognizable.
-
I agree, he looks pretty neat. Furno XL's build suits Surge as he normally has wide shoulders (except Brain Attack Surge), yet he is less bulky than the likes of Stormer and Bulk. I'm sure you made some slight mods to the torso, though- can I see it without armour? Not to copy you of course, I'm happy with my mods to the Furno XL build. Just curious. And, I know this may sound like a weird request (well, it is): can anyone post a picture of Stormer XL with Scarox's head?

Review Review - 70000 Razcal's Glider
Shakar replied to LuxorV's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very good review, I got this set last Saturday and I'm very happy with it. Not too complex, but perfect for its price point. And of course I love Razcal. Having two instruction booklets annoyed me a bit, however. I really don't think it was needed.- 4 replies

Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.

Owls (can either be good or bad, depends if you play on the "wise bird" trope or the slightly less popular "creepy hunter of the night") Toucans (good) Hummingbirds (good) Swans (good) Penguins (good) Kangaroos (good) Cheetas (good) Panthers (bad) Tigers (bad) HONEY BADGERS (badmegablocks) Dolphins (good) Hyenas (bad) Grizzlies (bad) Deers (good) Frogs (good) Chameleons (bad) Iguanas (good) Gliding lizards (bad) Turtles (good) I'm not sure if Lego would venture into insects. Aside from the fact it would sort of conflct with Galaxy Squad (that is, if GS continues into 2014), insects don't provide the same range of emotions other animals do. And now for something really crazy- what about plant people? -
I'm thinking of replacing Breakout Stringer's blue 3M shells with tr. blue ones, so he's fully tr. blue. Plus I bought another Stringer for parts, so I have plenty of blue shells to extend Dragon Bolt's tail. Yeah, the Summer combo models are likely going to be sweet. I wasn't hot on the Winter ones, but that's probably because I didn't like the source sets to begin with (except Furno XL+Pyrox, but that was pretty much Furno with some add-ons).. but I like that this year the combiners are buffed up Heroes, rather than some random beasts. Summer sets look better and have more exciting colour schemes, so I think they'll look better. Evo+Aquagon might look cool, I guess he's going to wield a replica of Laval's sword since all the required pieces are there. Stormer uses a Rocka blade while Frost Beast uses one of the new jagged blades from the Chima sets- Worriz style sword anyone? Surge+Dragon Bolt has quite the potential..at worst we'll get some weird thing like Rocka+Black Phantom..at best, we might see Surge XL given that Bolt uses a large torso bone. I too am curious about Jet Rocka- an alternate model would be very cool. And I forgot to write this in earlier posts, but thanks to the BZP pics I can see just how cool Surge's and Stormer's printed visors are. The details on Surge's visor actually mirror some signature elemens of his classic helmet (the ridges at the top and the huge Miru-like eye holes), and Stormer's just looks way cool! Now I'm even more sad Jet Rocka didn't get a printed visor, it would have been very neat.

BZP has LoC Toy Fair pics, and they're very good as usual. The non bird figures use back armour AND use the sweet 3x1 liftarm/balljoints to connect the shells, and the bad guys' weapons are indeed tr. red (they look like that because of the plastic). First tr. red weapons (excluding Breez's hex shield) in..forever? On the good guys' side, the lightning does the tr. blue shells justice, they look amazing. I've wanted those for years. I'm sorry, I don't get what it has to do with the topic. @ ZORK64: I compliment you. From your words I gather you're not a brony, but you're reasonable enough to understand what we feel instead of going "lol bronies" like haters would. While I was looking forward to the game, I'm mostly really sorry and pissed to see hours of work getting wasted like this.

Yeah, Rocka is growing on me a lot, it only needs some very minor mods. The Jet (jetpack, I guess) looks massive. I really like how Dragon's back is built, it's cool to see the Savage Planet spine piece back. Is the red button on his back this piece, by the way? That's a good point Aanchir. I've been playing with Lego almost since I was born (I had my first set at 2, no kidding!), so I guess it's hard for me to put myself in the shoes of more casual builders.
-
Yes, BZP pics! The red button pretty much follows the "red pins concept". Red is a bright, easy to notice colour, so that kids easily recognize the red piece as special, as having a specfic purpose. Personally, I don't like it neither from an aesthetic POV nor a functionality POV (I grew up with black pins and such without problems), but it's Lego's decision. I noticed Rocka's crotch isn't covered, like Furno XL- implying he uses a larger torso bone (a medium torso doesn't have enough holes to pull that off) and thus is pretty much Rocka XL 2. The Jet is going to be really big..

Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.

Penguins. Then I could die happily. Frogs and turtles would be neat too. Overall, I think we have enough mammals for now: I'd like to see more birds, amphibians and reptiles. -
I think Aquagon really gives it away though. The colour of the ball cup is clearly the same of his shoulder shells.

I agree tr. blue doesn't have the same glowy factor, and I don't know what led the designers to this switch. I'm simply curious to see how willing they are to go outside the usual "orange-neon green-blue" colour triad that was pretty much estabilished in 2009. The addition of tr. bright green in 2012 was a step in the right direction, since we were in dire need of a proper shade of green for eyes, and even back then I was wondering if we would ever see a fifth colour for the Glatorian head in 2013. Now that we have a new head mold and in a colour that was missing since 2005 (2007 if you count the 3 Barraki with blue eyes), I'm even more curious. Pink is always relevant.
-
Nah, if anything pink would look best coupled with black. But Aanchir's idea is the best one: Magenta is a lovely colour, and I agree AC made it work very well- maybe on bones? Tr. dark pink would be great to see on cladding, I bet Stringer would rock it.Still speaking of coIours, I wonder how much are the designers willing to depart from the "traditional" 4 Glatorian head colours. The Winter 2013 wave gave me the impression they'd follow them (with the tr. bright green and tr. neon green heads), but Summer made me think otherwise: Aquagon's and Stormer's heads are not Tr. Medium Blue (Stormer's Glatorian head colour) but regular Tr. Blue. Since Front's words imply the new head is designed to be used for many years in the future, I'm wondering if we'll get a greater variety of colours compared to what the Glatorian head got, and maybe some "unusual" shades like the aforementioned Tr. Dark Pink.

Don't remind me about it. Gorzan's Gorilla Striker (the mech) features a banana belt, though. Maybe they scrapped it on the Gorzan set, but they liked the idea so much they added it to the mech. I guess it made the parts count jump. Maybe these sets were originally supposed to be priced at a slightly higher price point...

Nah, it's not only for the constraction sets- look closely, and you'll see most sets feature at least one little building mistake. Nothing more than a typical case of "lolToyFair".These pictures are great, but don't change my thoughts. The better looking ones are Razar and Cragger (his torso design seems interesting), Gorzan and Worriz are good too, Laval is nice but nothing too special (I guess I just don't love the Lions) and Eris is my least favourite for reasons I already discussed here. I'm sure I'll get Eris (tr. blue/gold/white pieces, axe, wing pieces), Gorzan (Hulk/Stormer XL chest, recolured mace halves, black and titanium metallic pieces), Laval (tr. blue swords, exclusive 5M tr. blue shells and gold goodness) and Worriz (dark red shells, tr. red Rocka sword, t. metallic/silver dark bley parts). Ironically, for now I'm excluding Razar and Cragger from the list, the sets I feel look the best as figures on their own: I'm not planning any earth green MOCs for now, and Razar's black parts (nice to see the rare black 5M shells returning) and dark lilac 3M shells don't interest me much (would've loved 4M or 5M recolours..). 15 Euro (I guess) for these sets seems fine to me. The sets contain slightly more pieces than the average HF mid set, and as Aanchir said they have printed chests are sculpted heads, not to mention the impressive quantity of recolours (even if less so than the prototypes). Since they're not licensed, they end up being a far better deal than the Super Hero Ultrabuilds (cough40piecesinHulkcough).
-
Nope: This is the piece. You can attach two more flames, but to round holes, which isn't ideal.
-
Female Gorilla? Look at the flowers on her head. Plus the torso is girly enough. Only the Lions and the Ravens are missing, then all 6 main tribes will include one female (hopefully more in the future). I really want to see a Raven girl!
-
I have to say, maybe it's the lightning, or the poses (except Stormer's >_>), but the sets do look better. Surge's recoloured Pyrox flames look beautiful, while they looked weird before. Dragon Bolt looks very impressive standing on his hind legs. My only complaints about the set are that the tail is too short (I fully understand the reason, however) and the black foot/lower jaw. Luckily, fixing these two things is going to be incredibly easy to do. Stormer's pose..oh Toy Fair, it's not you without at least one awkwardly posed set. His head can be seen better this time though, and it looks great. He's a bit too spindly for my tastes- I think Stormer should be bulkier than that. But he's a very good set, with nice weapons and great colours. Frost Beast looks cool (ahem, sorry), I think. Those arms are puny, but he looks way more interesting than Pyrox. The head and the blade look awesome. Not much to say about the other 3- I want Evo so I can fuse him with his Breakout form, Aquagon is a great parts pack, and I can't properly judge Jet Rocka until I see the "jet" with its wings open (the set is growing on me, though). I'm surprised at Jet Rocka's piece count- a whopping 290 pieces- and Dragon Bolt's is 149. We've been complaining about piece counts getting lower (especially in the cases of larger sets like Speeda Demon and Stormer XL), but this year's sets piece counts are relatively high.

http://www.toyark.co...ma-images-7234/ Scroll down and you'll see the Chima Ultrabuilds. Yeah, I'm sad about Laval's gold shoulder shoulders shells. Cragger used two dark green ones on his shoulders, but they've been replaced by 3M shells. Go home Toy Fair, you're drunk.

Iiit's Toyfair time!
