  1. Really nice mod of a small set, with an interesting and unique solution with the pump.. really want the set now.
  2. About 8 hours, fueled by 1 Dominos (large Big Smokey pizza, wings and a 1.5l Coke) 8 cans of Red Stripe and half a 20 deck of Benson and Hedges... wasted hours since building a new crane for it which is soon to be seen on the mods, accessories and new equipment thread!...
  3. I see, cool.... well I might see some of you there maybe...
  4. Err dude it was 6 months ago now; despite being a technic builder who lives just outside of Manchester I couldn't make it as I was invthe middle of finishing my final year project for university, that and it was pretty expensive from what I can remember, I really should join the brickish org, but they insist on cheque or postal order to join..... If they did paypal I'd have joined years ago.
  5. i've used the same methods, though i wouldn't recommend them...
  6. Nice job concealing the workings.... the rocker style mechanism looks interesting too. Is that a demountable sub frame there in the pictures? so the chassis can still flex in a classic unimog fashion?... oh forgot to add before, i may have to steal that double turntable idea in a future moc!
  7. wow, i knew there were gonna be some exciting new parts on this set but this is looking more and more interesting all the time, some of these new parts if predictions are correct could open a number of new building possibilities.....
  8. Cheers for the link Alasdair, I've actually ordered some hose and one of their compressors for the small pump cylinders contained within it before now, it's good stuff, but i'm afraid it's a it's a lack of funds rather than sources thats slowing things down..
  9. nice work efferman, like you said, your levelling rule is rather higher than average, the turntable and the prototypical linkage actuated boom movement are the stand out innovations for me, great stuff, As for the logging crane build i was working on, it's been shelved for a while for a lack of pneumatic hose.
  10. Nah, read singletrack forum a bit...

  11. cheers fella, my riding buddy rides a ns bitch actually,my ragley's rides nice but it's a touch heavy and needs a slightly longer fork really....

  12. not the 1st time i've seen this sort of thing in pics on here, not that i'm criticising it, that would make me a hypocrite, but posting this sort of thing or even casually leaving this sort of thing in shot isn't cool, especially on a forum frequented by under 16s re cleaning, i thought of using the dishwasher on a cold rinse cycle but then i'm not sure the rinse aid wouldn't harm lego.... instead i used the bath full of warm water and pillowcase technique works well but labour intensive as mentioned....
  13. saw this on youtube over the weekend, impressive performance, good torque from the worm drive axles and a nice 3-link suspension set up, what's the 2nd pf m motor powering though?
  14. Thanks for the positive feedback fellas!..... As for instructions, unfortunately i don't currently possess the skills, knowledge and software to put any together, but i may release a LXF of the model at some point, until then you'll have to wait for the photo's and try reverse engineering it from those......
  15. i see, then i'd definitely go for a lowloader, maybe with a gooseneck dolly, and maybe try to make the trailer suspension pneumatically height adjustable.... btw nice tractor unit...
  16. I thought after posting pictures of my Trial Land Rover here and on flickr, i'd try and capture some video of it's outdoor testing.. It's the first video i've produced and it was only shot using a mobile phone so excuse the sketchy editing and quality.. any feedback on the moc or the video would be appreciated, other than that, enjoy! I'll post a link to some pictures as soon as i've shot and uploaded them!
  17. The question should be what type of vehicle should i build to transport my 8043... the type of trailer is dependant upon the vehicle hauling it. Personally I'd go for a 3 axle truck-tractor pulling a 3 or 4 axle low loader trailer or a large farm tractor pulling a drawbar semi-low loader trailer for an interesting change... Han's low loader is a good starting point though...
  18. like this? 21012011309 by sam2442, on Flickr -a planetary reduction hub i built a while ago, (untested)
  19. regarding tire slippage i prefer the rubber band technique, it pretty much eliminates slip and allows better tire deformation allowing them to wrap around an obstacle better giving better traction, you can use pulley belts if you're super purist... Also, regarding use of non-lego, i experimented with placing some large loose ball bearings inside the tires to add weight where it was needed, (they always roll to the lowest point of the tire) the results were quite good with grip and stability both improved.... using them on the front alone aided hill-climbing ability, i took them out after experimenting though as they were non-lego... lead shot would work even better i imagine but also falls outside of the rules..
  20. NICE.... like the long cylinder on the hiab!
  21. nice, i like the skeletal looking chassis, looks like a space frame buggy similar to the ones used on hillclimbs in the USA, another thought re truck trial though.... it's not all wheel drive I still think this or a similar buggy would make an interesting competitor in a truck trial, it wouldn't be too tricky to suspend it either...
  22. Thought this might be relevant! I was interested as to how the mechanism in the grab on the crane on the upcoming lego technic 8110 set functioned, so i reversed engineered a copy of it to see! i had to substitute the Technic axle joiner double flexible in the original for the grey double axle 1/2wide lift arms as i didn't have any but other than a few colour changes the rest is accurate.... works nicely! reverse engineered grab from 8110 by sam2442, on Flickr reverse engineered grab from 8110 by sam2442, on Flickr reverse engineered grab from 8110 by sam2442, on Flickr
  23. It's sad that people are misguided enough to think that posting someone else's moc in an effort to win a competition is a good idea... Last years challenge was also plagued with the same sort of abuse.. One idea that would eliminate such mistakes, (placing cheater's entries in the final 10 etc) would be to select a panel of technic based afols recruited from the fan community to judge the entries. As is shown here, a group of technic enthusiasts can quickly worm out all the bad apples, infact the eurobricks technic forum would be the ideal place to recruit them from.....
  24. this is something i've noticed too...
