  1. Nice buggy! Can it do "wheelies"?
  2. The 853 Car Chassis set is classic!
  3. On this Eurobricks post, it was noted that The LEGO Shop in Oberhausen, Germany sold the 9398 4x4 Crawler set "early", and a few others in Germany are reselling it. It appears that since The Lego Group realized that the set was "out", they arranged for a near-simultaneous set of reviews by Conchas, Blakbird, and Anio. The supply chain of 9398s has not been filled worldwide, so the set will become generally available in early August (first in Europe, then westward across the globe).
  4. Gabor Horvath (minifig88) posted two YouTube videos of his Lego Technic Light Sport Airplane (perhaps in an attempt to convince Blakbird that Lego CAN REALLY "FLY"! ). The model has a working suspension, propeller powered by a Power Functions M-motor, working ailerons, working elevator, & working rudder. See more about it on his MOCpages entry. (with clever use of his video camera): "Behind the Scenes" :
  5. [bUMP] LEGO TECHNIC STARCRAFT 2 BANSHEE by Drakmin -- For those who missed it the first time around, aspecterr converted Drakmin's Flickr and Vimeo videos into this . See more pictures on Drakmin's Brickshelf gallery.
  6. I just received the LDD .lxf file of this EXCELLENT Lego model from Jeroen Ottens (by sending him an e-mail by clicking on his login name at the left part of his posts). I added my support on his Lego Cuusoo page. There is a lot of functionality in a small package -- Bravo!
  7. There are several more 9398 4x4 Crawler sets available now in Germany.
  8. Do you mean this 827 part shown below? There is no Lego 827 Set. You could refer to Blakbird's Technicopedia to help identify your old Technic set. Look under the "Categories" (2nd column) to narrow down your search.
  9. Crtlego stated on this Eurobricks post that he "was able to call Lego from the U.S. and I only thought of asking for the following prices: L-Motor (6000564) - $27 -Not Available SV-Motor (6000566) - $36.89 -Not Available"
  10. No, they are not the same. See this Bricklink page for the (now 6) sets that the 54120 "Tire 94.8 x 44 R Balloon" appeared in. The rear wheels of the 8455 Backhoe set are this 6595c01 combination -- "Wheel 49.6 x 28 VR with Axle Hole, with Black Tire 56 x 30 R Balloon (6595 / 32180)".
  11. On his Brickshelf gallery, Filus posted 10 closeup pictures of his Lego Technic "Pseudo" Rotary Engine. It has 16 cylinders in two sets (at the 12-o'clock, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30, 6:00, 7:30, 9:00, and 10:30 positions). There is enough revealed that you could possibly build one yourself, to fit in a Lego Technic piston aircraft.
  12. Since Blakbird said that the Power Puller wheels/tires perform well on the 9398 4x4 Crawler, I would expect that the turning radius would not be that much worse than with the (standard) wheels/tires that came with the set. The 9398's tires are the 54120 "Tire 94.8 x 44 R Balloon": From Barman/ Barman76's Flickr photoset, one can see how the Portal Axle piece fits deep into the various wheels. The 9398's standard wheel/tire combination is the second picture from the left:
  13. On his website on on No Starch Press, Sariel has listed the various chapters in his upcoming Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder's Guide book: Table of Contents Part 1: Basics Chapter 1: Basic Concepts Chapter 2: Units Chapter 3: Studless or Studfull? Chapter 4: Joiners and Fasteners Part 2: Mechanics Chapter 5: Gears Chapter 6: Pulleys Chapter 7: Levers and Linkages Chapter 8: Custom Mechanical Solutions Chapter 9: Pneumatics Chapter 10: Pneumatic Devices Chapter 11: Reinforcing Builds Part 3: Motors Chapter 12: Motors Chapter 13: Power Functions System Part 4: Advanced Mechanics Chapter 14: Wheeled Suspensions Chapter 15: Tracked Suspensions Chapter 16: Gearboxes Chapter 17: Adders & Subtractors Part 5: Models Chapter 18: The Matter of Choice Chapter 19: Scaling Chapter 20: Modeling Process and he said "...But there may be something more! :)"
  14. Nope, everyone on Eurobricks only gets a 150k "quota" for attachments. What you should do is get a separate account on an image-hosting service (like Flickr), and link your images from there into your Eurobricks posts.
  15. A YouTube video of the new Lego Technic 9398 4x4 Crawler operating OUTDOORS to demonstrate: 1) It's offroad crawling/climbing abilities in uneven terrain. 2) The power of the new Power Functions L-motors. 3) The (possibly improved) infrared reception capabilities of the V2 Power Functions Receiver.
  16. Yes, but Zblj may have wanted MORE VOLTAGE available from non-rechargeable, Alkaline batteries. The Power Functions Rechargeable Battery Box only produces 7.2V, while 6 ea. new AAA alkaline batteries can produce 9V for those high-current RC Buggy Motors.
  17. Nice little Quad! Using SNIPE's LDD .lxf file above, I built his Quad Bike using real Lego bricks. I did not have red Technic Liftarms, so I changed the chassis to green: The key to his suspension is the use of two white x928cx1 "Technic, Axle Connector Rectangular Triple Spring-Loaded" (hockey spring) parts (which are not available in LDD): Using LDD Manager, I corrected some virtual colors that are not available in real bricks. Download his Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf file via SkyDrive. Download the PDF Parts List here.
  18. [bUMP] LEGOpachinko just added this new to explain his previous creation noted above (and which is shown in the second video below) -- "By popular demand some close-up shots of the flight simulator from this movie ."Start with the flight stick of a LEGO Technic 8855 Prop Plane (check Peeron to download instructions) and from there it is a lot of tweaking to get the dimensions right so it can move nicely. This depends on the airplane you are using so i cannot give you exact instructions. I recommend to first rapid proto type the mechanics to get the dimensions right and then build your definitive version. Your plane should probably not be much bigger than this one (this one behaves very nicely, is balanced and can be controlled quite precisely and very light). "Check also version 1 where you can see things more clearly (simpler, without the yaw): [which is shown in the original topic post on Page 1]"If you build one, send me a picture :)"
  19. Here is a made by Fernando Correia (Conchas) during last night's LIVE build of the 9398 4x4 Crawler set on TechnicBRICKS. The end shows the completed model rolling around on his desk; use the video's slider bar to see when he does that (roughly at the 1:11:00 to 1:14:00 point):
  20. @ Phoxtane: I have been to that Lego Store in Washington Square (Tigard, Oregon USA near Portland) several times. As with other Lego Stores, they offer the same sets as are available on Shop.Lego.com . Look at the 18 different Technic sets currently being sold, and pick one or more! Devote at least 45 minutes there -- you'll like looking all around the store, picking up boxes and shaking them, etc.
  21. Yes, Jeeves Lego made one and posted it on MOCpages.
  22. There are four BIG pictures of the 9398 4x4 Crawler with the Power Puller wheels & tires on this Doktor Brick Community post.
  23. @ Blakbird: I like seeing the 9398 parked next to Grazi's Bigfoot and Nathanael Kuipers' Jeep Hurricane. When you have a chance (in a few days), could you scan the two Parts List pages and add them to your Brickshelf gallery? The images that the Germans posted on Doktor Bricks Community were very fuzzy, and the Lego Element IDs were hard to read....
  24. @ Blakbird: Do you get to KEEP the set, or is it just "on loan"? Did Sinner arrange for the set to be sent to you so that you could do a Eurobricks set review? You're a lucky guy! To All
