Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
On his website, Philo (Philippe Hurbain) has links to old Mindstorms RCX2 software. He also has this webpage that shows how to make a Power Functions NXT Remote Control. Perhaps there is a way of blending the two.... You may also want to consider the HiTechnic NXT IR Link Sensor, which has some RCX capabilities: "Control LEGO R/C trains and other motorized LEGO sets with the HiTechnic IRLink Sensor for the Mindstorms NXT. The IRLink uses Infrared signals to communicate with trains, Power Functions Motor controller and the Mindstorms RCX . Control the speed and direction of up to three LEGO R/C trains (7897 and 7898) and other sets including the new Technic Motorized Bulldozer (8275) and the Monster Dino (4958). The IRLink enables NXT programs to read values from RCX sensors and control motors connected to the RCX." The Lego 8884 Power Functions IR Receiver has its protocols listed on the "Element Spec" PDF "Download" shown at the top-right of this Lego webpage: http://powerfunctions.lego.com/en-us/ElementSpecs/Default.aspx#8884 . -
Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The RCX needs a 8886 Power Functions Extension Wire (first picture below) to operate Power Functions motors. The Power Functions Receiver's electrified plate clips ON TOP OF the 5306b "Electric, Wire with Brick 2 x 2 x 2/3 Pair" that (in turn) is connected to the RCX brick. -

Tumblers and a Bat!
DLuders replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ Mahjqa: I had to refrain from posting your marvelous Lego Technic Tumbler, after seeing your Tumbly! Flickr photostream for weeks! It looks very well engineered. As Alasdair Ryan noted on this Eurobricks post, these new 9398 parts ARE on Bricklink now: bb571c01 "Electric, Motor 9V Power Functions L with Dark Bluish Gray Bottom" bb572c01 "Electric, Motor 9V Power Functions Servo with Dark Bluish Gray Bottom" Allanp noted that some Bricklink sellers offer the "Version 2" Power Functions Receiver (to handle two PF L-motors on the same channel): German source and American source . -
Torque sensing diff
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ Nazgarot: This looks interesting! Since it may be 2 days before the Brickshelf moderator makes your new folder "public", you could "deeplink" your pictures and LDD .lxf file now, using the procedure here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5448&st=0&p=85129&hl=deeplink&fromsearch=1entry85129 . Only YOU can see your Brickshelf gallery until it is moderated, but "Deeplinking" gets around that problem. Using Zblj's Brickshelf folder for his recent Mini 9398 as an example, your deeplink to your .lxf file will look like the text strings below. I removed the "http://" from this example so you can see the entire string; you will need to add them back in. Delete all references to a "thumb": Change "www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zblj/Mini9398/thumb/9398mini.lxf_thumb.jpg" to read "www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zblj/Mini9398/9398mini.lxf " instead. If you are successful, your link to your LDD .lxf file will work like this. -

On MOCpages, a young Crowkillers-wannabe named BERT2578M posted 11 pictures and a High Definition of his "LEGO Ultimate Supercar RC" -- "This is a radio-controlled supercar I built. I first started it by making the detailed V8 engine. Then I decided that I want it to be fast but powerful so I created a two speed gearbox with an XL motor right in front of the engine. With that I installed the rear-wheel-drive suspension from the 8070 set under the engine. Then I built the front of the supercar which also has independent suspension. Last, I strengthened the frame and created a body which should make the car look fierce."This is the best super car I have ever built! - Radio controlled 2 speed transmission - Rear mounted V8 - Rear wheel drive - Independent suspension on all four wheels - 1 Power-functions M motor for steering - 1 Power-functions XL motor for drive - 1 Power-functions M motor for gearbox - Headlights and taillights"

(Review) 8081 Extreme Cruiser
DLuders replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
[bUMP] On MOCpages, Devin Crist shows a simple way of making a locking door handle for the 8081 Lego Technic Extreme Cruiser set. The design could be used on many Technic sets with similar doors, and on MOCs: -
Here is a story about some kid who had a "Lego [Technic Steering] Wheel Stuck Up His Nose for Three Years". "Boy lives for three years with a Lego wheel stuck up his nose" "It may be a while before Isaak Lasson's parents buy him another Lego set. The Salt Lake [City, Utah, USA] six-year-old, who has suffered from mysterious sinus problems for the last three years, recently discovered the source of his discomfort — and it wasn't just post-nasal drip. Turns out, the little guy had been living with a rubbery Lego wheel jammed into his nostril. "I felt so bad," Isaak's dad told KSL.com. "He was sleeping with his mouth open, trying to breathe." Multiple doctors failed to find the source of the problem and suggested antibiotics as the remedy. It took a keen-eyed specialist to see the light — or, rather, the wheel — at the end of the otoscope. The doctor spotted the fungus-covered tire in July and pulled it out. Isaak's condition has improved dramatically since the foreign invader was removed. "I asked him, 'Dude, how did that even get in there?'" his father said. "We think he bent it in half — it's pretty flexible — and that it opened up once it got into his sinuses." Like most young kids, Isaak felt his nasal cavity would make a terrific storage unit. Unlike most kids, however, he forgot he had put it there. And while his shaken up parents question how this could have gone on for so long and whether they did enough, the youngster is taking it in stride, telling his dad, "'I didn't even know . . . this is weird." While a Lego wheel certainly figures among the more unusual non food-related items pulled from the tiny cavities of our smallest citizens, the Buzz compiled a list of inanimate objects Toronto doctors have had to pull out of small noses during their ER tenure. Among those with the highest "ick" factor: safety pins, buttons, Toonie-sized coins, decomposing peanuts, nails, a toy airplane and a Monopoly piece. What's the strangest thing you or your child has smuggled up the nasal pathway?" A Technic Axle to clean your nostril, perhaps? @ vwpint: When you copy/paste your picture's URL, make sure that the end of the text string ends with a .JPG or .PNG. If there is any text after those extensions, it would link properly on Eurobricks. Also, in one of your posts above, you did not sandwich the URL between the two HTML tags . Meyra Optimus 2
DLuders replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks good , but there may not be enough room inside for the Lego Power Functions elements. You could use a tether control, where a motor is driven by a Power Functions Extension cable connected to a Battery Box outside of the model.... -

DLuders replied to Saberwing40k's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ Saberwing40k: You could start off by making a simple contraption. As mentioned on Parda's Technic Delicatessen, Anika Vuurzoon made this of a flying Lego rotor. She wrote, "Do you think it's impossible to make Lego fly? Then you have to watch my "Flying lego"! Without the use of any non-Lego parts I lift Lego up to 5 meters into the air. Enjoy your flight! More info on: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/288875 . Warning: If you want to make something like this too. Make sure you take enough space and protect yourself and others. Bye bye, Anika Vuurzoon" -

[Software] LDD Manager
DLuders replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@ Superkalle: I downloaded the LDD Manager 1.0 40-MB ZIP file again, and used WinZip (instead of WinAce) this time to unpack it into the 80-MB-total file package. Everything works nicely -- the LDD Manager says it's Version 1.0 and I see the Brick Thumbnails when I check off the box that says "Show Brick Thumbnails". Thanks! -
[Software] LDD Manager
DLuders replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@ Superkalle: Thanks for continuing to refine this VERY USEFUL software application! I just downloaded the 81-MB Zip file from Skydrive, and unpacked it onto my hard drive with no problems. I did notice that the first LDD Manager screen still says "Version 0.99b for LDD 4.2.5", so I am not sure whether I'm running Version 1.00 or not. The F1 "Help" key does not do anything. The old StartLDDManager.vbs file was not overwritten by anything -- it still is dated 5/20/2010. -
I doubt that anybody has a published inventory of each yellow "inner box." In order for other folks to provide such an inventory, they would have to rip open their mint sets (which isn't going to happen). There is this Bricklink inventory of the aggregate 8448 set. Your set is not "Mint In Sealed Box" (MISB) or even "Unsealed", so you might as well open the remaining 6 boxes to see if you've got everything. If you don't want to do that, do a closeup of the individual bags on Adriel's Brickshelf gallery.
