DLuders replied to vwpint's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here is an example of what you should do. I have removed the "http://" from the beginning of each URL string so that you can see the entire string; you will add the "http://" back in when you are ready to link your photos. Say your picture is on www.photobucket.com/example/pic1.jpgXML001. You need to delete all text after the .jpg, to read: www.photobucket.com/example.pic1.jpg . You will copy/paste that shortened URL text string into the "Insert Image" button in your Eurobricks "Reply" window. That will add the HTML image tags automatically "img" and "/img", with brackets surrounding them). Keep trying! -

@ vwpint: You should delete any text after the .JPG extension. Once you trim the URL and surround the .JPG address with the HTML image tags, you should be able to imbed your photos here on Eurobricks. -

10220 T1 VW camper van MOC
DLuders replied to tibivi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ tibivi: Here is the procedure for imbedding your 10220 VW Camper RC Flickr photoset photos into a Eurobricks post: 1) Left-click on a thumbnail to select it (and enlarge it somewhat). 2) Right-click on the larger image and select the "Medium 800" pixel size. This will match the Eurobricks maximum image size (800x600 pixels). 3) When you see the Medium 800 image, right-click on it and select "Properties." 4) Copy the URL of the JPG and paste it into your Eurobricks post. Make sure that the image URL is surrounded by the HTML image tags. The result will look like this: -

Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ Bricktrain: Yes, one could use the 9738 Lego Mindstorms RCX Remote Control unit, but since they are SOLD OUT on Bricklink and TLG does not sell the 1998 part anymore, it's not really an option for 2012 (14 years later). -
For those who may want to build a smaller version of the Mars Curiosity Rover, consider the PDF Building Instructions of Stephen Pakbaz's MOC on Technicmad's Rebrickable.com : "This is a model of the Mars Science Laboratory rover, named Curiosity. It is currently on Mars with a mission to investigate the past and current habitability of the Red Planet. On August 5, 2012, it touched down at Gale Crater, near the equator. This model has a fully articulated arm, deployable mast, and a working rocker-bogie suspension system that allows the rover to climb over large rocks and keep all six of its wheels on the ground. "Please support this model on LEGO CUUSOO if you would like to see it become an official LEGO set!" See the 25 pictures on Apojove's Flickr photoset.

@ rm8: In this TechnicBRICKS TechReview of the 9398 4x4 Crawler set, Conchas stated its weight as 1.42 kg with motors but without batteries. Your MOC weighs 2.50 kg without motors and without batteries (1.08 kg more). That's a lot of extra weight, and you can see situations where the 9398's two Power Functions (PF) L-motors don't have enough torque to climb over certain obstacles. So, recommend that you use two PF XL motors in your MOC. From TLG's official "Element Specs" webpage, each PF XL motor weighs 71 g. and each PF L-Motor weighs 44 g.

Help please!
DLuders replied to Jestb2000's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
OK, from your remaining choices, I recommend: 1) IF you want to be able to "drive" your Lego set using onboard motors, then select the 9398 4x4 Crawler. 2) IF you want a "classic" Lego Technic set, then select the 8880 Super Car. 3) IF you want to be able to build FOUR ADDITIONAL models (besides the standard "A" and "B" models), then select the 8448 Super Street Sensation because you could build a Concept Car, Racer, Hot Rod, and Buggy alternate too. -

So, one should use the newer, "fatter" 87407 "Technic, Gear 20 Tooth Bevel with Pin Hole" (first picture below) instead of the older, thinner 32198 "Technic, Gear 20 Tooth Bevel" (side-view picture below)? -
On MOCpages, LP Technic (Lee Ping Ng) posted 11 pictures and a of "A [Lego] Power Functions [Walking Crab] walking machine with 12 legs. It can move forwards, backwards, and steer like a tank. Based on the mechanisms of Theo Jansen's Strandbeest. Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_Jansen if you're interested in his work. "IR sensor + 2 M motors, one for each set of legs": "PF battery box at the bottom to lower it's CG. You can see from the video that sometimes it's unstable when it walks. If the battery box were mounted higher it would be worse!" "I was partly inspired by this motorized version of the strandbeest I saw at a Theo Jansen exhibition in Kaohsiung, Taiwan":

Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, Bob! Your "Power Functions on the LEGO RCX" software download looks very useful -- "Now you can use your RCX to control LEGO Power Functions. That's right the RCX can act as a PF remote control but it can do something that the PF remote can't do yet. The RCX can do PWM with your PF receiver modules. You do not need to install BrickOS to get this to work. The executable that you need are included in this packet." -
Willgorman posted this of a large LEGO MINDSTORMS Mars Curiosity Rover: He wrote, "Doug Moran and I built a LEGO MINDSTORMS model of the Mars Curiosity Rover for the Build the Future in Space event at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The rover contains 1000's of LEGO Technic and MINDSTORMS bricks, and is 100% pure LEGO with no glue. Four of the six wheels are powered, and the rover can make 360 degree turns. The arm and mast are controlled via a separate NXT via bluetooth, and the rover is driven via a separate NXT Joystick designed by "Philo" [Philippe] Hurbain. Special thanks to LEGO for providing all the plastic, and NASA for hosting a great event where we got to display the rover and build with the many families visiting the Kennedy Space Center! Check out BattleBricks.com for more information about the rover and other LEGO MINDSTORMS projects. You can learn more about the LEGO and NASA partnership at LEGOspace.com." "The Rover Drive Control is a direct decendant of Philo's NXT Joystick. Thanks Philo!" @ Philo: Can you tell us more about your collaboration? I see you have PDF Building Instructions for your NXT Joystick:

@ efferman: Your Technic G MOC is excellent , especially with those Ansmann 211000224 tires! The German forest (where you made your video) seems unusually dry and crispy.... I'm looking at the 38 photos in your Flickr photoset of your Lego Mercedes G, and see that the four new Lego Power Functions L-motors provide great power to your drivetrain. When the gears were slipping/grinding in your video "Outtakes", which gear assembly do you think was being over-torqued? -

Mindstorms RCX 2.0 with PF?
DLuders replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ Nazgarot: Have you seen this RCX Internals webpage? It has lots of RCX byte code. Bob Kojima wrote an article on his LEGO Robotics webpage about "Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS" -- "Now you can use your RCX to control LEGO Power Functions. That's right the RCX can act as a PF remote control but it can do something that the PF remote can't do yet. The RCX can do PWM with your PF reciever modules. You do not need to install BrickOS to get this to work. The executable that you need and the BrickOS firmware are included in this packet. Get it here: <http://www.fial.com/bob/lego/PowerFunctions.zip> The zip file includes a sample program that uses 2 rotation sensors to control the PWM on the red and blue ports it can also send controls to all 4 PF chanels. Also included is a .h file that impliments the complete Power functions protocol for BrickOS." Alas, the 4-year-old link to that ZIP file is broken, but I sent a Eurobricks Private Message (PM) to Bob Kojima and you got a copy of that same message. Perhaps he could send you the ZIP file if he still has it.... -

@ Zblj: Are you planning on making a Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf file, or does meshing the 55 gears in LDD take too much time?
