  1. Anio's UCS Juggernaut has been added to Rebrickable (where one can see the Parts List in visual brick form):
  2. @ Costas: If you don't want to use the blunt side of a butterknife (like I did) to pry apart the Lego Technic Turntable halves, you could just use your fingernails and some pressure (in this by CarterandCarterProducts):
  3. On TechicBRICKS, Conchas (Fernando Correia) posted the detailed "TB TechReview 15 - 9398, 4x4 Crawler Addendum... it comes now the time to see how it behaves with other tires then the original ones included in the box...."
  4. RC4WD Rock Creepers 1.9 (Left) & Lego 54120 (Right). Both are mounted on the standard Lego 44772 wheel: On my Flickr photoset, I show how the RC4WD Rock Creepers 1.9 Scale Tires fit well onto the standard Lego 44772 wheels. I got a bunch of those wheels from Dannnohhh's Bricklink store. A Lego Technic 8297 Off-Roader set is modeling the tires for comparison with the standard Lego 54120 balloon "Tire 94.8 x 44 R" ones that come with that set. The Rock Creepers tires ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Rock-Creepers-19-Scale-Tires_p_222.html , available from these multiple sources ) have these dimensions: "* Outer Diameter: 3.8" (95mm) * Width: 1.45" (37mm) * Inner Diameter: 1.9" (48mm) ." These are close to the Lego tire's dimensions, but with the soft rubber compound and big lugs, it will perform better in rock crawling duties. Rock Creepers 1.9 vs. Lego 54120 Tire -- Note the greater "contact patch" of the Rock Creepers compared to the Lego tire. Also, the large rubber "lugs" on the Rock Creepers will help latch onto rocks easier than the rounded, cut-off lugs on the Lego tire: Rock Creepers 1.9 (Rear) vs. Lego 54120 Tires (Front), modelled on the Lego 8297 Off-Roader II: Lego 54120 / Rock Creepers / Rok Lox / Two Face Tires -- From left to right (all mounted on the standard Lego 44772 wheels): Standard Lego 54120 "94.8 x 44R Balloon Tire; RC4WD Rock Creepers 1.9 Scale Tire ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Rock-Creepers-19-Scale-Tires_p_222.html ); RC4WD Rok Lox 1.9 Comp Tire ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Rok-Lox-19-Comp-Tires_p_696.html ); and RC4WD Two Face 1.9 Offroad Scale Tire ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Two-Face-19-Offroad-Scale-Tires_p_705.html ). Any 1.9" (48mm Inside Diameter) RC tire in the 37-48mm width range should fit the Lego 44772 "Wheel 56mm D. x 34mm Technic Racing Medium" ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44772 ).
  5. On the TexBrick website, there is a 3-section telescoping boom (with a jib) that has these details: From http://www.gaasedal.dk/eng/Mobile_Cranes/Grove_GMK4075.html :
  6. I like how you used your available parts for your Pseudo 9398 Crawler. The Power Functions M-motors just do not have the required torque to get a large model like this over large obstacles. The extra set of M-motors adds to the weight (which affects performance). If you get your voltage up, it may help. According to the answers to Frequently-Asked Questions on the official Power Functions (PF) website, it is not advised to run 5 ea. PF M-motors on one PF battery: "1. How many Power Functions Motors can I drive from one Power Functions Battery Box?" "As a rule of thumb, you can drive 2 Power Functions XL-Motors, 3 Power Functions Train Motors or 4 Power Functions M-Motors at the same time from one Power Functions Battery Box. If you wish to run a combination of motors, you can e.g. have 1 XL and 2 M running together. The XL-Motor requires about twice as much power as the M-Motor. The Battery Boxes and the IR Receiver have overload protection, so attempting to drive too many motors will not damage anything. The power a motor consumes depends on what function the motor is performing. Motors will operate best when driving a small load." "11. What happens when the Power Functions overload protection kicks in?" "Overload protection is activated when too much power is consumed from either a Power Functions Battery Box or the IR Receiver. This can happen when a motor is blocked or when too many motors are running at the same time. If overload protection is activated, the Battery Box or the IR Receiver will cut off power to the output until power consumption has dropped under the allowed value. To regain power, unblock the motor or disconnect motors from the output – then turn the Battery Box OFF and ON again. Under overload protection, the green light on the Power Functions Battery Box will still be ON."
  7. There's a bit of hype in the official video ("It climbs ANY obstacle"), but it's a nice video anyway. This model will be real popular in the USA because offroad trucks are not a rare sight.
  8. @ lukeandahalf: Sometimes it takes several days for the Brickshelf administrator(s) to moderate new pictures. Until they are "made public", only YOU can see your pictures -- nobody else can. However, you can follow these procedures to "Deeplink" your Brickshelf pictures so that others may see them right away. I like using Flickr (instead of Brickshelf), because one can easily post pictures WITH DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS, and one can select the desired 800x600 pixel size for posting here on Eurobricks. Brickshelf's images are sometimes TOO BIG to link.
  9. @ Toyfast: Welcome to Eurobricks! Thanks for pointing out your find -- I had not seen it before. I wonder if Blakbird is going to make one of these mammoth engines!
  10. @ lukeandahalf: Welcome to Eurobricks! VFracingteam posted this of his motorized Lego 8110 Trial Truck:
  11. On his website, Philo wrote this topic about the Lego Power Functions Battery Box, complete with picture instructions on how to access the inside:
  12. @ efferman: Nice find! I have ordered a set of the Mickey Thompson 1.55 Baja MTZ Scale Tires for Sariel's Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (which uses the Lego 41896 "Wheel 43.2mm D. x 26mm Technic Racing Small, 3 Pinholes"):
  13. The online Toys-R-Us website in the USA has some more of the Lego Technic 9398 4x4 Crawlers IN STOCK FOR SHIPPING NOW -- get 'em while they're hot -- http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12818254&prodFindSrc=search .
  14. @ jadedomg: We hope your recovery progresses well, and that you will be able to enjoy your Lego (and other things) more and more!
  15. You need to use Superkalle's LDD Manager to generate an Excel spreadsheet containing the parts in your LDD model.
  16. The front bumper (and hood) of the 9397 A-Model are both 15 studs wide, but the front wheelbase is ~16.5 studs wide. I have one of these in my hands at home.
  17. If you could pry the two halves of the large Technic Turntable apart (with the blunt side of a butterknife), you could add some Mineral Oil or Silicon Oil (for RC shock absorbers) to lubricate the parts and reduce friction. Do not use WD-40 -- it eats plastic.
  18. Yes, there is a similarity between the 9393 Tractor (on the left) and the tractor portion of the 8049 "Tractor with Log Loader" set (on the right):
  19. Over on the Eurobricks Digital Designer Forum, P4trickvH posted this Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf file of the new Lego Technic 9393 Tractor set. "Errors •replaced 4x 99773 by 2905"
  20. To help visualize the parts involve, here they are: 4459 "Technic, Pin with Friction Ridges Lengthwise WITHOUT Center Slots": 2780 "Technic, Pin with Friction Ridges Lengthwise WITH Center Slots":
  21. So what you seek are modern versions of these four Lego Technic Idea Books, perhaps with the newer "studless" Technic Liftarms shown instead of the older Technic Bricks? You can download these (old) booklets in PDF format, via the SkyDrive hyperlinks below: 8888 Lego Technic Idea Book (Expert Builder) from 1980 (100 pages, 9.5 MB PDF document) 8889 Lego Technic Idea Book (116 pages, 23.8 MB PDF document) 8890 Lego Technic Idea Book (52 pages, 4 MB PDF document) 8891 Lego Technic Idea Book (100 pages, 14 MB PDF document)
  22. Conchas (Fernando Correia) has posted Part 2 of an Addendum , to show "Custom Tires' Outdoor Performance" on the Lego 9398 4x4 Crawler set. He wrote, "This video is integral part of my reviews of the 2012 LEGO Technic flagship - 9398, 4x4 Crawler. The full set review is now available at:http://www.technicbricks.blogspot.pt/2012/07/tbs-techreview-15-9398-4x4-crawler.html The review addendum for custom tires performance, will be soon available at: http://www.TechnicBRICKs.blogspot.com ."
  23. Over on the Eurobricks Digital Designer Forum, P4trickvH posted the B-Model virtual building file for the 9398 4x4 Crawler. His Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf file allows one to "see" all angles of the model (since nobody here seems to have built it yet in real life). Again, some parts are not included because they don't exist in LDD.
  24. @ phoxtane: The white part is the 60208 "Wheel 31mm D. x 15mm Technic":
