I completely agree there is a double standard. Companies like TLG and DC are going up against decades of gender marketing. They do have to start somewhere and TLG was finally able to do so with friends. There are no perfect solutions but we can't just say everything should now just be equal going forward. Some amount of changes are needed to help achieve the desired balance. Mini dolls are apart of that equation.

Not Being excluded and being included are not the same thing. And if anyone is allowed to enjoy it how is a girl targeted dc anything ridiculous. Are you saying girls are allowed to enjoy boy toys but boys cannot enjoy girl toys? If gender does not matter why do so many people get upset when a single all girl comic is announced despite the hundreds of male dominated comics?

The outside of the TFA MF is pretty much the same other than the dish. Most changes are of the interior. Plus I'm betting the set will contain at least one if not two exclusive minifig that everyone are going to want. So you can reenact we are home scene.

When they introduced vader people had to know someone was going to die. I wouldn't view it badly to be struck down by vader himself. We already know what becomes of the Jedi.

Nope. The seven are TFA sets coming out in September. And if I remember correctly the code name wolf was a filler for what is now the constraction sets.

Only makes sense that they would feature redesigned ships we have seen in the past first. There will be of course new ships just as we have new characters. TFA has always been about transitioning from OT to a new generation of movies. One of the biggest criticisms of pt was how disconnected it looked and felt from the original movies. And frankly does one expect the wheel to be reinvented in thirty years? If a design works it gets continually reused just like our tanks, bombers, aircraft carriers etc. If everything was different then it would be a different franchise, and not Star Wars. As I tell my children, deep breathes, everyone calm down, it'll be alright.

The new trooper helmets look very cool. Can't wait to see the flametrooper in action.

Well, some of us are very excited for TFA and the new sets that we will get as a result.

Skylanders and Infinity seem to be driven by releasing a new starter pack every year. Thus the lack of open world because of the fact they want to play, finish and then buy in a sense a new game. Dimensions seems to be in keeping with the general TLG idea of continual compatibility. The ability to always use the same starter kit is also most likely the reason the price is higher than the competitors. The main up side is being to be able to always use whatever expansion packs you purchase. Where as skylander forces you to buy new expansions to go with the new starter packs. In a few years the cost of skylander could easily be a great deal more is you play on a regular basis.

Most likely Dimensions has a completely seperate licencing deal with each of the involved studios specific to the game. This game could easily be around for years and wouldn't make sense to maintain a full license just for the LoTR elements. Or for all the other licensed properties contained in the game. Development would have started several years ago and would not have been driven by on hand inventory.

LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
Darth Punk replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think having everything in one place will help to avoid confusion. The sets such as they are, represent an intregal part of the game. I'm not sure how discussing them separately from the game would be relevant.- 527 replies

Hopefully they learned to shoot straight.

The are used with the toy pad. Presumably to unlock characters and or expansion world.

The image of a puzzle box of a certain dark lord holding his special hilted light saber.

Probably. Didn't know minions were in mega bloks. I only mentioned minions and Jurassic because they both have movies coming out this summer.

© 2015 The LEGO Group. ™ & © DC Comics. THE LEGO MOVIE © The LEGO Group & WBEI. © New Line. ™ & © SZC lic. to WBIE. ™ & © Universal Studios and U-Drive Joint Venture. ™ & © WBEI. The trademark listing from legodimensions.com. That could change but as of now only licenses owned by thoses companies will be a possibility for lego dimensions. Jurassic World and minions being among them.

Congrats. You old scoundrel!

The first three are owned by Disney so highly unlikely unless Infinity ends.

The first cowboy Sith.

The lego games LoTR, batman 2 and marvel are all open world.

There was a Wizard of Oz movie not too long ago. Not sure how well it did. And both BTTF and Oz obtained 10,000 votes on ideas and are liked by adults. And the wizard of Oz shares a reality side/fantasy side with The Lego movie. I think having the emarald city is just plain cool. What they could do with it in a game like this is way beyond what one could get out of a set.
-
The dimensions game is in direct competition with Disney's infinity game so its very unlikely we will be seeing disney owned themes. It's also very likely that all TLG owned themes will eventually be added. Having the wizard of oz and LoTR makes sense since neither have sets and both are popular thus enticing a broader range of non lego buying players.

You do realize this game was announced today, correct? And they announced expansions packs already and have stated there are more to come. They certainly don't do lego games for every theme so I fail to see the unfairness, to whom I'm not sure, to other themes. A game like this means expansion packs could be released for decades to come, if the game is successful. The phrase putting all of ones eggs in the same basket does come to mind. Also, the chosen themes make perfect sense. Obviously they are popular subjects and that will be a big draw for many. This game however has nothing to do with Lego Ideas other than the fact tha sets that reach 10,000 votes is a good indicator of their appeal. Taking advantage of that obvious appeal to want is happening here.
