Thank you very much.

Anyone have the prices of these handy?

I would agree the hasbro version looks better. Though it's understandable TLG wouldn't want to make a giant brick with seats.
-
Seems like an odd vehicle for a snow environment. The minifigs do look excellent and hope to see them in a future battle pack.

No because UCS are directed toward afols and are on the market for longer periods of time. The TFA version will target the overall market which means mainly children. IF TLG is going to release another ucs falcon, next year would be an opportune time to take advantage of TFA excitement and marketing. Which we have seen features the falcon rather promoinately with the return of Han and Chewie. Something the first ucs did not have, which suffered poor sales from what I understand. As much as I would like a large cloud city set it's doubtful it will ever happen. Other than the carbon freezing chamber, a set we appear to be getting, there isn't too many rooms that hold a great deal of interest other than the duel. There are many veinettes but none that really that would look good as a set. Plus given we already have the final duel it seems unlikely TLG would release two duels at the same time. That being said one can not always tell what TLG might do as they like to throw the occasional curve ball at us.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Darth Punk replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
I missed the first year so I have no problem getting a toy shop this year. I imagine there are many others who might have missed it as well. A candy shop would be equally sweet. Perhaps a willy wonks inspired shop. Or a mr. magorium's wonder emporium toy store. -
You don't run through your house carrying your Death Star? Am I the only one?

Without a doubt Star Wars will have a few d2c sets next year. But I do believe he was talking about something else.- 8,446 replies

I apologize, I must have missed your post on an actual marketing strategy that involved more than you getting your way. That doesn't neglect whatever agreement that involved Disney and TLG, as other companies actions have no bearing on said agreement. Nor the fact that TLG has millions of customers and none of the people here are their target market. Perhaps if you actually took the time to contemplate what many others were saying you would understand people's "aversion". Repeating yourself over and over only makes you look like you,are not only throwing a fit but failing to understand the basic ways in which TLG operates. Which I might add they have done quite successfully. Opinions are subjective and do not correlate into facts. They are a start of a conversation and not a bat to beat others into submission. If ones interest is financial then it would behove such a person to study the actual business and marketing strategies of the involving parties and not automatically conclude what is best for you is the superior route. As they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
-
Oh course we want to see the sets, but adults realize throwing fits about it isn't going to make a difference. I, as most buyers can walk into a store and decide if I like a product and don't need months to ponder. And it's hardly unusual for TLG to wait just before a release to showcase new sets. So it seems they may know a bit more about marketing their own product than an a very impatient individual stomping his foot.

The ground crew helmet makes him look like he ran into a pole. Zoinks!

Ewok Village has been out since Sept. 2013 so it's wouldn't be surprising to see it go. Echo Base seems like a good replacement.

They don't have to fly off the shelves to make a profit. All the initial investment would have been paid off long ago. The purpose of a flag ship is not sales, it's the wow factor. It's to get you excited about the theme. It's to woo new customers who couldn't have imagined owning their own Death Star. It doesn't completely matter if they buy it as long as they buy something. It's no different than going to a car dealership and seeing the high end model sitting in the middle of the show room. How many of those do you think are actually purchased? The price alone may easily make it a profitable item with only selling just a few. That car isn't sitting there because of its sales numbers, it's there because it's a reflection of the brand. It's a reflection of what is possible. It's helping to sell the other cars, acting as the same advertisement one would see on TV. You are undervaluing the idea of a flagship and looking at this solely through the lens of a consumer. No matter what industry some products serve more than just the simple idea of sales. Some may make large profits and other may have razor thin margins. You have to look at the bigger picture as the overall profit and sales are what ultimately matter. Products serve different people for different reasons. TLG makes a whole host of themes to help keep and more importantly aquire new customers.
-
Perhaps you don't understand the purpose of a flagship. The echo base, while being cool, hardly compares to the iconic nature of the DS. Sales of the set don't fully tell the story of why it's been around for seven years.
-
The DS set has been out for seven years which is also totally unprecedented. And I don't see any those other ucs sets as filling the same role.
-
How so? A new version isn't going to come out unless this one was retired first. The DS is, or was, their flagship set so it seems likely to return. Or that we will see something on the same level to replace it. Shop at home has the DS listed as sold out.

Thanks for the pic! The wing connections are different. Is that track for the gun to spin around on? That would make possible shooting anything above the horizon line of the ship. Would be a big advantage. Not sure an antenna would be needed on a short range fighter. And having something like that built into the wing might make more sense.

Seems like a back seat could be created if you get rid of the kitchen.

The screwdriver is in the dimensions set, thus would not be considered an exclusive mold if included in the ideas set. Also if TLG is making further Doctor Who sets any of those elements could be produced and used in the ideas set. TLG just doesn't make new elements solely for the ideas set.
