Knifk's relentless assault keeps his target from casting any spells. Thormanil the Merciful releases Bravo from his confinement on this plane then quickly sets to work on freeing Alpha. T'wan Ti begins a lengthy incantation in the hopes of saving her sister from the orc brute. Elgar dumps his remedy on the Arasmyth statue. The mage fires a spell that must have been meant for the zealot before they were petrified because he hits nothing. T'wan Ti finishes her spell and a giant ball of light drops on Hoh's head. Its brilliance blinds Hoh, Thorm and Elgar. Once again the Wraith flies high and wails but this time it sucks 4 ether from the heroes. With their mages out of ether, their vision obscured and their physical immunity fading, the Party needs to make the next round count. The battle continues. The Enemies: Akkaban Archivist - "I see 8 moves ahead of you. You will not win." Type: Humanoid *Dropping More Gold* , Immune to All Mage and Cleric Spells & Effects, *Deflecting Damage* Level: 10 (Attacks Mimic the SHIELD roll of hero who targeted it) Defense: 5/5 Health: 231/300 Ether: 0 Special I: Use Rod - Uses the Needlessly Large Rod. Player is Cursed until remedied or battle is over. Special II: Read Scroll - Reads from his master spell book. Applies random effect (sealed, blinded, weakness, frailty, slowed or poisoned) to player and one effect to the player listed after him in party order of actions. Drops: 60 gold, Needlessly Large Rod, 100 gold, Lens of Speed Reading QM Note: Successful attacks against The Archivist have a 1 in 3 chance of being deflected to a random enemy. Vengeance Wraith - Unintelligible whispers from multiple voices. Type: Undead, Demon Level: 23 (+5 damage vs those with ether) Defense: 0 Health: 231/287 Ether: 40 Special I: Non-corporeal Form - Fades mostly from this world and receives ½ damage the next round at the cost of 5 ether. Special II: Soul Sap - Drains half of player’s remaining ether at the cost of 10 ether. Special III: Vocal Rupture - Emits a focused hideous screech that damages the player’s vocal chords, sealing them for 3 rounds at the cost of 5 ether. Drops: Nothing Passive - Drains ether from each party member at the end of each round in an amount related to the round number. Ex. At the end of Round 5, five ether will be drained from each member of the party. QM Note: Specials determined by die roll. Orc Spirit (Alpha) - "Dabu." Type: Undead Level: 10 Defense: 0 Health: 89/200 Ether: 0 Special I: Tarok’s Revenge - All non-Orcs on the battlefield suffer the fragile effect for the next three rounds. Race is affected by Trickster’s Masks. Drops: 10 gold. Passive: Reminiscence - 50/50 chance when targeted the spirit briefly remembers its former life causing it to strike a random non-Orc enemy for 20 damage. QM Note: Specials determined by die roll. Orc Spirit (Echo) - Floats around. Type: Undead Level: 16 Defense: 0 Health: 144/213 Ether: 0 Special I: Shroud of Darkness - Makes a random humanoid enemy immune to darkness spells for three rounds. Enemy will receive double damage from light attacks. Special II: Cull the Elves - All elves on the battlefield are gathered and become petrified for the remainder of the battle unless remedied. Race is affected by Trickster’s Masks. Drops: Drops 10 gold. QM Note: Specials determined by die roll. Akkaba Paladin (Human) *Immunities: Darkness, Scroll Spells* - "That spell won't protect you forever!" Type Humanoid Level: 20 Defense: 15 Health: 237/250 Ether: 13/13 Special I: Lay on Hands - Heals comrade with lowest health for 30 health at the cost of 1 ether. Drops: 100 gold, Remedy QM Note: Akkaba Paladins’ fervor causes them to be immune to spell scrolls and darkness spells. CAUTION!: Akkaba Paladins are subject to minor artificial intelligence. On odd rounds the QM will select the special that screws the party the most. Otherwise specials alternate in order from last special used in an even round. Special III: Akkaba's Miracle - Heals all comrades for 10 health and grants them the blessed effect for the next two rounds at the cost of 5 ether. Drops: 50 gold, Phoenix Essence QM Note: The magic of spell scrolls is too weak to affect the cleric. Specials alternate. Akkaba Mage, T'wan Ti (Human) - "It's as if that thing is resistant to my spells?!" Type Humanoid Level: 20 (All damage is magic based) Defense: 0 Health: 61/200 Ether: 50/60 Special I: Shadow Bolt - Blasts target for 20 darkness damage at the cost of 1 ether. Special II: Righteous Smite - A powerful beam of energy strikes a target for 20 damage at the cost of 5 ether. Target and the players before and after him in party order of actions are blinded the next round. Special III: All Shall Fall - The next special used applies its damage and effects to entire party at the cost of 10 ether. If Mirror Images is used next it will function as normal. Special IV: Mirror Images - The mage produces 3 illusionary copies of herself at the cost of 20 ether. Each is identical to the original in terms of displayed stats but any successful hit will destroy the copy instantly. Special V: Pontificate - Converts party member to their way of thinking. Player is hexed for the next round at the cost of 5 ether. Hexed player will deal a free hit to the party at the beginning of the next round. Special VI: Mind Numb - Clouds the mind. Temporarily lowers player’s level by 2 at the cost of 5 ether. Level returns to normal if remedied or the battle is over. Player is hexed for the next round at the cost of 5 ether. Special III: Survival of the Fittest - The zealot seeks to eliminate the competition for Akkaba’s favor. Attacks a random comrade for 15 damage at no ether loss. As Akkaba was betrayed himself, he looks poorly upon such an action so drains half of the zealot’s remaining health. Drops: 30 gold, Potion QM Note: Zealots are ‘touched’ by Akkaba. Each strike against them has a 50/50 chance to apply the Mark of Akkaba to a player. The Mark of Akkaba reduces player's health by half at the end of the next round unless remedied. Specials determined by die roll. You doth have a friend in me...” Truth Of Akkaba - Reveals the horrid truth of Akkaba. Hexes a random enemy for three rounds. “See the face of Akkaba, see his true visage...” Shameful Secrets - This song reminds all combatants of a shameful secret they hold (like hitting a boy in the head in the sewer) . 50% chance heroes have their level halved for one round and 50% chance enemies have their level halved for one round. “Let your secrets out I say! Let them see the light of day!” Sewer Slide - It seems that Singerson might have entered through the sewers as well. All heroes are hastened but also poisoned for one round. “Sliding down the sewer luge is fun...but dirty.” Bridge Guardian - A familiar song about a giggling guardian. All enemies are magically burned for 5 damage regardless of SP. “Giggle giggle giggle, all she does is giggle as you fall in a pit and are burned for a bit.” Righteous Reverb - The song reverberates off the walls, vibrating the heroes. All heroes get the immune to physical damage effect (physical based free hits included) for three rounds but take double damage from magic based attacks (magical based free hits included). "Caaanaaanaaan yoooouuuuuuuu feeeeeeeeeeeeelllll theeeeeeeeeeeeeee viiiiiiiiibrrrrrraaaaaaatiiioooooooonnnnnsssssssss?!" Party Leader, choose the order of actions. Also choose the song Singerson will sing. It will take effect before the round begins. Knifk, state if you want to sacrifice any additional health for your attacks. All of you, choose your targets and the Row you want to fight in. Also mention if you want to try to flee, heal, or cast a magic spell, or if you want to use an item instead of attacking. Check your stats, let me know if there are mistakes. Trickster's Masks can be donned/removed in the same turn as your normal action. Currently two characters are wearing a mask: Thorm(Gender-Human) and 'Smyth(Gender-Elf) QM Note: The Maa'ri will join the fight at round 10...if you live that long. -

As the ranger regains his senses, Thormanil sends healing energy Bravo's way. The spell jolts the orc and he once again regains control of his mind. He swiftly attacks one of the mage sisters. Elgar clears his vision and quickly tends to Knifk. The knight's eyes pop open and he rages at the first enemy he sees. With his mind clouded, Ad-Hoh can not recall the incantation for a strong bolt of darkness so shoots a weaker one. Echo rises and his tentacles wriggle around as his empty eyes glow brightly. Hypnotized, Arasmyth and the zealot slowly make their way to the spirit, ignoring the fight around them. They wake for a moment and are shocked to see they are standing side by side. Before either can attack, their bodies turn to stone. Mini duels break out but the heroes are immune to any physical hits. The Wraith flies high and wails as it sucks 3 ether from the heroes. The Party is in good shape despite their leader's predicament. The battle continues. The Enemies: Akkaban Archivist - "They've recovered. Just like I predicted..." At first I thought you were a straight damage dealer as you started out barbarian and had a darkness blade so I couldn't figure out why you've stuck with the berserker for more than one quest (thought you'd just try it out then switch) instead of going for class that put out more damage. But then I saw your post a little while ago that said you like to make tanks so yeah, I think Paragon would be cool for Tesni. I like that TRUCE ability but it'll be lame when people listed after you end up rolling CRIT or SHIELD. I guess Paragons get positioned last in Order of Actions??? O_o

Diabolical in design X_x Consume a Grand Tonic Consume Raw Meat Give Helmet (+1hp) to Sylph Nur attempts to cast a beneficial spell on Johon. He opens his pack and drinks from a grand tonic. He unwraps the raw meat and shovels it down his throat so he wouldn't have to share. Nur sees the three throwing shurikens in his pack then looks to his throwing arm covered in stone. The strength was better than before but any bit of finesse he had was gone. He wouldn't be throwing them again soon, not that he was any good with them in the first place. Then he eyed his helmet. "Here Sylph. If you're going to try out your skill with the bow now from the back row, might as well have some extra protection." Nur hands Sylph his Helmet. "It's a momento from the quest I met Johon here in...keep it." Nur looks back down the path they just traveled. The Archivist attempts to cast a deflective spell but fails so receives the full force of the orc's onslaught. The smelling salts wake up Thormanil and give him the adrenaline needed to send a big heal his party leader's way. Arasmyth connects again with a powerful wind spell. Frightened of facing a creature unknown to her, T'wan Ti lowers Hoh's intelligence. Elgar's bolt gets around the cleric's shield. The heroes are doing great but now it is the enemies' turn to act! The wraith slowly floats towards Knifk. With a backhand it swats the orc's shield away with its left hand and continues with its strike plunging its other shadowy gnarled claw into Knifk's chest. He swipes widely at the creature. Inspired by the wraith, the zealot strikes the defenseless knight as well. Knifk's head falls backward as he falls into unconsciousness. His well trained muscles or the magic of the gloves keep him on his feet and allow him a final strike against the unsuspecting opponent. Once again under the Archivist's control, Bravo attacks Arasmyth while his counterpart suddenly appears behind Thormanil, taking him offguard. The paladin strikes Ad-Hoh with his shield as the other mage sends a bolt just powerful enough to knock out Elgar. The Wraith flies high and wails as it sucks 2 ether from the heroes. With two members down and the Maa'ri nowhere in sight, the battle is just beginning. How can the Party ever hope to recover? From studying Knifk's mannerisms only a short while, he is able to successfully produce a weak burst of darkness damage. The Vengeance Wraith reaches through Knifk's shield and armor until its fingertips graze the orc's heart. Thormanil swallows a potent elixir before casting a spell at an orc apparition. The display causes the Wraith to cringe and withdraw his attack from the knight. Arasmyth proves he's quite proficient at ghost busting as he keeps two apparitions at bay. His wind attack on Bravo causes the spirit to remember his time in the world of the living. Enraged he attacks the first non-orc enemy he sees which is the zealot. Ad-Hoh throws a holy bomb. It shatters in the middle of the enemy formation, washing them all with light damage. T'wan Ti shields her eyes from the light and doesn't see the shadowy bolt that follows it. Elgar is clipped by the cleric while preparing his three bolt tripleshot technique but manages to get all the shots off. Knifk engages in a ghostly duel while a sneaky mage and zealot attack from behind. The Wraith flies high and wails as it sucks 1 ether from the heroes who also lose a point of health from Singerson's strange song. The heroes return to normal speed but the battle continues. Decipher - Slightly better at decoding scrolls. All 50/50 chance scrolls have 2/3 chance to hit. Magic Resistance - The Archivist receives 50% less damage from magic based spells and attacks. Battle Style: Studious - These scholars prefer to read from scrolls rather than rely on natural ability. 1. SHIELD: Enlightened Assault - The scroll used has a 100% chance of success and hits all enemies. In addition, the Archivist hits all enemies with a non-elemental spell for damage in an amount equal to his or her weapon power. The Archivist may choose to sacrifice ether to add to the damage. The heroes enter the last locked room of the Apothecarium available to them. It houses many smells that tickle the nose from pleasing aromas to the stench of death. The primary scent rotates often enough so that it can’t be recognized and the heroes’ noses aren't overwhelmed by any one incredibly bad odor. The room is well lit as if the sun was sitting in the corner. Patches of green shag carpeting erupted from random areas of the floor boards. Scrolls along with numerous vials litter parts of the floor and tables. For one who works in such a studious profession, the figure appears unorganized and a slob. However the man’s garb is clean and unblemished. He wore a multi colored scarf around his waist that began purple but ended in a scaly pattern between his legs. Obsidian bones adorned his chest fashioned to look like a ribcage. He wore a mask with a breathing apparatus as he worked on a project holding a magical looking hammer with gloved hand. As the heroes ventured closer, the man, with back still turned, looked up from his work and addressed the Party. “Heroes of Heroica. I have been expecting your arrival. Although I did expect you to reach me much sooner.” The man turns around. “Too much commotion was caused for you to be random recruits. Only those from the Heroica organization would and could cause such disturbances on such a night where the majority of the city was elsewhere. The Akkaba Inquisitors obviously failed in their duties to alert their teams of non-believers. If they had succeeded, the city would be on high alert and you would have been met with greater hostility during your stay.” - He moves from behind his workstation and continues in his deep mellifluous voice. “I am The Archivist. I am responsible for recording things such as our history and conducting experiments that contribute to the plans as laid forth by Akkaba himself, as dictated by He Who is Closest to Akkaba. I am also known for my keen powers of observation and deduction. For instance...” The Archivist slowly turns his head and looks closely at the party. “I am quite familiar with the inhabitants and businesses of thousands of cities and Eubric is one of them. Check your stats. Trickster's Masks can be donned/removed in the same turn as your normal action. Currently all characters are wearing a mask: Knifk(Dwarf), Thorm(Gender-Human), 'Smyth(Gender-Elf), Hoh(Elf), and Elgar(Elf). QM Note: The Maa'ri will join the fight at round 10...if you live that long. -
