  1. For those that haven't read my sig yet ;) I'm busy working on a game at the moment. We have just upgraded our servers to support more players, a bigger landscape, and more building bricks. Now we need to test them and get some feedback :) I'm working full time on this for the next two weeks, so any help testing is really appreciated. Did I mention it's Free! New features: * 9x bigger game world * 8x bigger server resources * Animated minifig - ie walks at last! * Improved chat * Build a 'Home' for your minifig, or collect bricks to use a design from someone else. * Choose colours for your minifig. * Locate other players home via shortcut button * Updated help files via F1 * Updated graphics library Coming soon: * Quests to earn new brick types * Shops to trade bricks against gold * Accessories for minifigs * Anyone interested if I make a competition to win a small set for best designed building? we need a few more bricks I think first. * Tell me your wish list :) Please remember this is a beta/alpha test software, and there are plenty of bugs still, report them and we will fix them as asap! btw what do you think of the updated minifig, I think the smile is not quite right, but it's better than the gray blob we had for the main character a few weeks ago :) PS you need Java to play! read the about page at whitehexagon.com for more info
  2. Well I did also consider this for a while, even found a great site that has the measurements. Problem is my ruler only does inches :) not really, but it certainly doesn't handle the amount of precision involved with LEGO bricks, and that's ignoring any shrinkage problems when bricks cool. I know we complain about the quality of LEGO at times, but I think an individual would struggle to come anywhere even remotely close. Wasn't it mentioned on the Gadget show that a brick mold is worth $10,000 and kept in secure bunkers, or did I dream that. Would be nice to have a cheaper supply of bricks though, keep thinking to try some car boot type sales to see if I can find some more bulk bricks, but I imagine they would be like my childhood LEGO with nice teeth marks :-$ but i'd rather try that than risk an ebay purchase. Had a strange dream last night that a LEGO collector friend had got bored of his LEGO and decided to donate his entire collection to me. The catch was I could only take what I could carry because his apartment was about to be demolished. Think I'm spending to much time with the bricks :) I guess the best solution to having a large brick collection I found so far is the game I'm working on ;) Don't have so many brick types supported yet, but it's nice to build with as many bricks as I like :)) Actually I'd like to get some feedback on some ideas for the game, but I'll start another thread later, just busy configuring two new servers to run the game :) Peter
  3. Yipee, made the front page :) I watch the show quite frequently being British, and glad he's going to be okay. And you are so right about positive news.
  4. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2418068,00.html Oh, I didnt see the post further down that this was already mentioned. Just delete this topic, sorry, half asleep :)
  5. I think Mega blox has the pirates of the carabean license. I saw some in TRU the other day at least I think I did. The HP bus is half price here now (20EUR) so I got one two weeks ago. apart from yukie fleshies the purple bricks are really nice and it was a good set for windows :) Dont think I'll buy anymore sets though, a bit too <insert that tiresome argument>..
  6. I wasn't sure about admitting to playing until I rediscovered LEGO this year, and the online community. Now I'm proud to say I play with LEGO. If more people played with toys like LEGO I'm sure the'd be a few less problems in life. It's especially nice when one can share the hobby with a spouse or partner. Thats quality time! *sweet*
  7. but I guess we spend a bit more on average per person, and we seems to have a habbit of buying multiples of the same set. I mean, how many classic 'classic castle' sets would each of us buy now given the chance :)
  8. I got mine in German last week, so I gave it a miss. Sounds interesting if they plan to do more computer/console games. Better get mine finished asap :)
  9. hmm, can't say i'm interested in any of them. Just makes me want to rush out and buy another set or three of 4886 though! especialy since the new house seems to have no back wall? and possibly alot of 4x2 type bricks rather than 4x1 type. But i wouldn't mind some black fences for variety...
  10. No, it was more the hassel of trying to make 50 minifigs and a 100 fence pieces look like a genuine building :) Plus the Factory models always seemed to come out so very expensive compared to normal sets.
  11. Update: Well I selected enough parts for a small white house with red roof, but it's going to cost much more than the creator house itself. So similar experience to Factory, sounds cool, looks cool, but price is too hot :( Peter
  12. wow! this looks really great!! even some basic minifigs :)) Prices seem quite high for some of the parts, but I'm not a big brick link fan so don't know how it compares. But I guess that's why the factory sets work out so expensive. Well I have to go and place my order now :) Peter
  13. ACE repsonds: When I was a lad... actually we used to call just about everything ace for a while, just one of those playground words that caught on. What an ace time that was, ho ho, not! Not forgetting ACE Rimmer from Red Drawf, was a pretty cool character. 'Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!' or something similar if I remember. Kikuichimonji: I think I've seen the ACE multi vit carroty drink thing here in Germany, not been brave enough to try it yet. It would be a bit like buying a chocholate bar called Yummy! Secretly known as Asteroids to the developers ;) I bet this was the first arcade machine with a high score chart, hence the name ;) would look great in a high score table! wish I could even pronounce it :)btw. where did the name eurobricks come from? Peter
  14. I really like the band idea! I guess those headphone buds are available on planes for free ;) actually I'm pretty sure I've seen them in my local electronics shop without headphones or ipods :)
  15. As much as I want this set, the thought of so many glued pieces just spoils it for me :(
  16. Choosing a name is really tricky. When I wanted to get my game online I went through hundreds of possibilities. Mostly searching for available .com and 0 google hits (that's not so easy!). I wanted something symetrical so I made up oxonoxo, but I seem to remember even that had some google hits. Eventually I had to resort to joining two words. But probably I will change it again at some point since the game has gone from a hexagonal based system to more Lego brick orientated theme :) WhiteBrick maybe? Actually even using two words is a pain because then some places like wikipedia are case sensitive ie. whitehexagon and WhiteHexagon don't both work :( I have some older names ie. cork and PaperClip (in Settlers III). but these days the simple names are impossible to grab so mostly I have different names for different services. Oh, now I remember my first nik was ACE, just because it was so easy to enter names into arcade machines and Spectrum 48 games I used to play :)) I'd forgotten that. Peter
  17. ? I remember mindstorm a little, but what issue do you refer to.
  18. Well I went down to the local electronics store here today, and it's not going to be cheap or easy to get it all running from the PC. Plus I wanted to find some way to know where the trains are on the track, but that's going to really complicate it. Maybe I leave this project for a while and concentrate on getting the village a bit more organised. I was also looking for some mini LED for some street lights, but no luck as yet on a good solution for that. Peter
  19. Thanks to you both for the info. Great setup Panda. Actually now I'm a bit scarred. I really wanted to add trains to my little (growing) village. But when I see the amount of space it all takes up!!! OMG. I need to move apartments for sure :)
  20. Thats what I'm looking to do :) The 9v tracks were 10eur a box instead of 17? I have to check the part # I haven't seen any 9v trains for sale here though :( guess I rediscovered lego just a year too late... Will the designer set be 9v? Much as I strongly hate modding, the trains are just crying out for someone to build RC/RF or bluetooth mods! And I really like the idea or controlling them from the PC... :) maybe a trains + NXT solution. Peter
  21. I read somewhere that the HP train doesnt fit so well with tracks? is this possible/right? Peter
  22. I saw the new IR trains are in stock here in Germany. But I haven't seen any track for them yet... Is this something that they are waiting to see if people buy the IR stuff first. I found one store selling of the 9v track quite cheap, but no replacement in sight. whats the story? As a child I had some basic blue track and then some 12v tracks and I wouldn't mind to have a couple of trains again but don't know if I should wait. Seems like the IR line isn't the smatest idea. Why didnt the go for RF or even bluetooth :) Peter
  23. Well the nice LEGO people sent me replacements today :) although the shield is not the same, out of stock aparently, but I'll live. I didn't realise TLC were so friendly with replacements. So almost happy again with the quality, apart from the HP bus has lots of nice purple bricks except for 1 1x4 flat, which is a different shade of purple all together, strange. But the set was half price here so I'm not complaining :) Peter
  24. Oh no, I just got a harry potter minifig and actually I quite like the fleshie, with the cute little scar an all. Oh dear, what's becoming of me. I must be ill!
  25. [quote name='gylman' I have some hopes for the Ferrari set. The Ferrari line has mostly been good so far. But I wonder if they will put Kimi mini figs into the exisiting packs already for January :)
