The Magpie weaves between the rocks flawlessly. The heroes fling down Smoke Clouders, bursting into billowing pillars of smoke as the vessel cuts through them and the Apocalypse riddles the cloud with cannonfire. Well, make up some better numbers, because that's nowhere near the truth. When there's a group of newbies in the Hall a quest usually rolls along for them eventually. If there are any left after this next batch I'm ironing out the details of my next one and it's well-suited for newbies.

You can't move diagonally. You can't move vertically while in view of the Apocalypse, and you have to expend one on each stud you're in view. And yes, the Apocalypse sees down every column from the north, but it cannot see through rocks.

They can see everything south of them, so we need to use these rocks as cover while sneak into close range. One shot and we're all dead." Knife-Tongue drops a crate of Smoke Clouders by the remaining heroes' feet. "Knifey's whipped up these Smoke Clouders to mask our approach, but they've got a very limited range, and we've only got ten. So use 'em wisely." The heroes' goal is to reach the red zone without being spotted by the Apocalypse. The Apocalypse can see everything in a straight shot from the north. The Apocalypse cannot see through rocks. One Smoke Clouder will be consumed when moving left or right while in sight of the Apocalypse. There are ten Smoke Clouders, so use them wisely. You cannot use a Smoke Clouder while moving north or south. DO NOT POST THE SOLUTION TO THE PUZZLE. Each player must send a private message to the QM with your solution within 24 hours to receive experience. Sorry, one thing led to another and I ended up helping a relative move into a new house for most of the day. Thanks to Flipz for updating these stats. With Torc hovering around, the Magpie sets sail, slipping out of the grotto easily. Outside, a storm seems to have lowered down onto the Crystalline Sea, just as the dawn begins to break. But they also see the Apocalypse - sitting off to the side, with its multitude of cannons facing the Magpie. "Damn it!" snaps the captain over the screaming rain and pounding rain, twisting the wheel sideways to face the monster of a warship, reducing their visibility. "Melvin, get the-" An explosion of cannonfire drowns out the sounds of her and the storm - the heroes brace themselves, but the shots didn't come from the Apocalypse - the gun battery of the fort above them are smoking, however, as one of the warship's masts splinters. "Direct hit. About the best we can do, considering." "Good. Everyone: scrape together whatever powder is left, and reload!" "Yes ma'am!" Those remaining at the base don't get their chance, however - the Apocalypse seems to immediately note its disadvantage, and begins fleeing north. The makeshift sails lowered, the Magpie pursues it. Melvin surveys the scene through a spyglass. Visibility is very low thanks to the storm. "She's got a bit of a headstart cap'n, but we're- wait, pull around, they're opening fire!" Several flashes emit from the rear of the Apocalypse, and the heroes are nearly knocked off their feet, cannonballs whizzing overheard as Illdria pulls the wheel sideways again, forcing the Magpie to stop, bumping into a wicked-looking rock beside them with a low crunch - luckily the force isn't enough to break anything really important. "Are we hit?!" "No, cap'n, but if they see us again, we won't be so lucky. They have rear cannons, too: at least six, by the looks of it." "Well, we can't sit around here forever, they'll find a way around this field of rocks and blow the hell out of us. Knife-Tongue, did you get the rest of the cache?" "Aye, cap'm." The hobgoblin is struggling to roll a large cask up onto the deck of the Magpie, the rain pouring down on all of them. Illdria hops down from the upper deck and helps him drag it the rest of the way, then pops it open with her dagger. "Considering how often they've called us smugglers, they did a piss-poor job of looking for places for us to smuggle things. Everything looks intact." She lifts a pair of odd-looking machines out of it, glass bulbs mounted on each of them. "Underwater- something or other, we call them UBAs. Bought 'em off a guy named Daneeka. Supposed to be for exploration or something, but we use them mostly for repairing or cleaning the hull...or sabotaging the occasional raider." She sets them up by the edge of the ship, switches them on and digs around in the cask further to pull out four black pearls. "In a minute, these machines'll make bubbles in the water. Hold these pearls and they'll follow you right down to the ocean floor."
