brickset says fall 2006. probably in time for christmas 2006. at least for north america it will be. so make sure everyone knows it's in your wish list!!! visit santa more!!!
-
wow...you guys really spend a lot on this. i'm collecting a few selective sets for resale and some for my personal use. i tried out bricklink and ebay before but i wasnt impressed. i'm gonna resell all used parts and will just buy new sets going forward. hopefully i will break even and my hobby will fund itself! :-) i only started this year and i'm down around 200-300 USD.
-
so it was you who bought docking bay's stuff. i was eyeing that shop for a while now. i guess i snooze i lose? *wacko*
-
i also moc my grand titan. i used the same click joint just like yours. it makes the arms look bigger than the measely ones the original design had. much better in my opinion. :-P now you can try adding hands like the supernova. it's quite a challenge trying to resize the popeye arms.

no retail shop will carry imitation goods. anyone can use lego's stack system but a brick-for-brick copy of lego's sets is clearly illegal. it's like anyone can make a watch, just not a rolex. if you do, you can only sell in the streets not in shops.

Huge news!! now at S@H in North America

hmm are there any batman magnet sets? -
i was just going to say who would send photos from work, especially illegal photos. then i thought not everyone is smart enough to know that. i agree, it's too late to take it down now. gerkenz put it on his website. brickset has it. even the wikipedia has it. plus i think it's good publicity for TLG. especially when this set is so well designed that almost everyone wants one. if it has been a complete flop then at least they know to redesign the set but as of now it is going to be another hit. i might even think that TLG may have been involved in the leak, much like the arkham asylum set... 8-|
-
here's what i dont get. how did TLG find out who leaked the photos? it's not as if only 1 person worked on the set now is it? it's not like they know who dash is and can trace who he has connection to.

i'm sure the prices will eventually find their way to europe. can you say ebay? *wub* i rarely buy from shops either. ebay is just so much cheaper...even for the US. i got a slave 1 6209 for $40 incl shipping (retail price of $50)! that's like a 75% value (when you account for sales tax). the only time i got from shops was during the TRU buy 1 get 1 50% off sale. *wub* i'm not sure how these guys get their cheap goods - probably retailers since they get a 38% margin from Lego.
-
holy....that is a great deal indeed. what selection do you have? star wars helmets? any orange standard helmet? pink helmets? *wub* what are the rules? 5 for GBP4? any minifig accessories like weapons etc?

ah, i understood what you meant now. the wedge you were talking about was the piece between the thigh bone and the shin bone, ie the joint that bends backwards. i think it was designed that way, ie to have limited extension capability. that's probably its maximum height...it can probably squat lower though. agree with you that it cant walk (despite its namesake). with its weight i dont think giving it walking capabilities is possible. the thing will probably tip over at the slightest of movement.
-
i'm not sure i agree with you. the thigh joint is the roll-click joint. i would think it has full flexibility. the angle plate is mostly to keep the brick connected to the technic beam. it's sort of like the combo model, if you have built it before. what i like about the bw is the head. it looks fantastic with the trans-red "eyes" and trans-green "fangs". the look is fantastic. very menacing. as for the wl comic, all comics have the mechs with full cockpits. unfortunately all the models suffered from this issue. it's actually a lot less of an issue here than with the rest. for eg, supernova and silent strike are very exposed at the side. whats interesting about wl to me is that the pilot is sitting instead of standing. it definitely uses a different construction to the other mechs. looking at the backside box art, it seems that the mech is highly playable unlike the older mechs. very solid construction. the only thing likely to fall apart is the armor which attaches via a red clip. i think it was designed that way from the pictures (where it broke off when hit by the rubber projectile from BW). i dont think this set will come out anytime soon. it is driven by mecca one and SV needs to be destroyed first, then there's black skirmisher too. my guess is that it will come at the end of this year or early next year. when are next year's sets usually announced? just wanted to have an idea when we can expect to see what next year will bring and whether this theme will die young like dino force.
-
holy cow. this set is superb! i like how the mechs are evolving. even the puny human's mech looks impressive. at a price tag of $50, i'm sold! wonder when it will be released. cant wait! special edition! TRU again?

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions

interesting. i think snefroe1 has an interesting observation. often ebayers exploit a finance behavior concept called price reference. bundle a few things to sell for EUR1 although you could get it cheaper from bricklink. this is because the common dollar is disposable for the average human. so it's still a higher utility to the ebayers than to an informed AFOL. taken to the extreme a highly valuable auction consisting of 90 SW OT discountinued huge sets, there may not be many buyers although it could be priced cheaply (say original MSRP of $5000) the auction may not even exceed $2000. even a huge collector fan will not part with $2000 as easily as $1 even if his/her own collection numbered more than $5000. it's a psychological barrier. often it is necessary to break down a super large lot into smaller easily digestible size to maximize the return. -
wasnt that spongebob also made of bricks?
-
a lego spongebob is passed on from one person to another. and pictures are taken to document its adventure, hence the term "travelling." they started a travelling patrick minifig early (prior to the spongebob theme release) by sending a few fan club members patrick minifigs with the instruction to take pictures then pass the minifig around and send the pictures to lego.com. they are starting a travelling spongebob now (probably the same one from the plankton adventure set) starting from the model designer and currently is with the web designer.

i think it's only natural. only reason old items sell for massive price is due to more AFOLs getting in the hobby. most likely the number of adults joining the ranks of AFOLs is fast diminishing and with it the price inflation of older sets/pieces. hording sets in the hope of price inflation in the future only works when there is demand for it. when the set is in the market (for eg 6211 and 6210) every AFOL that wanted one can simply get them from the shops. when the sets sold out and new AFOL joined the ranks, only then will the sets appreciate (when these new AFOLs wanted the sets but cant buy them from shops any more). only way for the price to continue its upward trend is for the "tweens" to become AFOLs in 5 year's time. but that is a challenge in itself considering that generation grew up on video games and not lego. -
just as i thought... http://www.lego.com/eng/spongebob/travel.aspx initially i had stated in the travelling patrick thread that once spongebob sets are out in the market they will be having the travelling spongebob promotion. guess what? my prediction came true. so far TSB is in the hands of TLG employees. i dont think they will pass TSB to non-TLG affiliated personnel though. too much risk of dmg and loss.

Supernova available in Europe for pre-order
natelite replied to sam89's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
well, my fav is the stealth hunter. it's simple and visually appealing. while i do agree that the hands are a great selling point, the supernova hands can be quite flimsy. you will need these pieces to hold the arms in place. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2654 dont try modding the other 4 mechs to have hands either. supernova's hands do not fit well. they give the stealth hunter the "popeye" effect (large forearms). also the fibreoptic cable for supernova is slightly longer than the 4 mechs. so if you mod the hands you will need to get longer cables. -
the pictures are available in dash's brickshelf directory. hey dash can you post pictures of the gun that the sensei and ryo are holding? the orange mudguard happens to be yellow. the blue mech just look so odd in medium blue and blue. they should have just made it out of one color. dash, can you do close ups of the side of the fortress, one of the gun tower, one of the landing platform, one of the mudguards, one of the repair bay, one of mecca one's mech, one of the scorpion mech? while we enjoy your epic battle pictures, we would like to know the specific detail of the set so we can decide if we want to buy the set or not.

buy sticker paper. if you use glue you will mess up the minifig. it's better to spend a little more and get the right paper for decals than to spend the money replacing the minifig later (unless the minifig part was already destined for the waste bin prior to applying the decal).
-
no offense but orange is hard to coordinate well with other colors. tan would have been much preferred. :-) i prefer a single color theme or at most 2. it facilitates army building and allows for factions. colorful mechs are fine but it doesnt do well for mechwarrior aka massive battle type concept, which i am into. think of what KK is to CC, and you will get my drift. KK concept is way too colorful for the army building, generic soldier concept of CC. btw nice ideas. more mechs would be nice. i like to see newer variation to the humanoid mechs. in particular, i like to see more quadruped mechs instead of more biped mechs.
-
too late buddy. they already started with the 4 char story line. but yeah i am with you. would have liked this theme a lot more if they made better foot soldiers and more generics (like the vikings!) -- and better colors! NO ORANGE PLEASE!

the torture bench for a minifig will be significantly different from the current one for a skeleton. this is because a minifig's arms cannot rotate to the position of the current design. let's be honest here. the torture bench looks like a good mock up of one that may have exist during that era. but torture benches are no longer relevant in today's modern society (when was the last time you saw a working one?). so in that sense, i think TLG didnt really "violate" its own socio-doctrine.
