crap...it's times like these that i wish i had some knights mfs or parts i can make one out of. i have like 0 knight or medieval set. good luck all, my favs are yoda's and khorne just because they are different. khorne's looked like a scottish or a germanic pre 11 century warrior. more like a barbarian. :) perhaps you could use a quegon jin's hairpiece....i think that might look better.

no, just seasoned veteran unlike yourself. *sad* -
i think he was asking more like when is dash going to sell his blue mech. he already sold it for 10 pounds. it was for some ridiculously cheap amount. i would have bid too but the shipping cost to us killed it. :-/

old boxed sets? well, can't help you there...that's kinda like a big neon sign saying "BIG BUCKS"... my art is more how to get good deal on ordinary, easy to get sets. *sweet* -

this made me laughed...out loud. for snoe, there is no other way except to go through every single auction. do not skip over the "bulk" or "loose" auctions for you can get full sets in those. for eg, i saw one such auction for the entire t-1 typhoon being sold under "loose lego maroon and tan bulk parts" and it went for $1.99 and $10 shipping for a total of $12. they included the minifigs too. i could see the entire helicopter right there in the pile. sold for $12. get the instructions from BL and you're set. the only thing missing was the large <insert that tiresome argument> dino. i rarely look at old sets but don't discount bulk or loose auctions. they may contain hidden treasures. -

ebay has been there for around 10 years, trust me, there are no new tricks. hahahahahahahahahaha good luck with your future bidding. are you trolling? or just naive? i joined ebay 3 months ago and i already learned something. so is that the final final last "trick" then? or will there be another final final absolutely final last trick still waiting for discovery? by your logic, no one can get a good deal from the stock market since it existed for 100s years. hmm, yet we hear of "price corrections" daily. -

it's not going to matter. you are relying on old information while i have first mover advantage. it's about time i work on a new trick. -
i know you are into exo-force too. so how about a little skit with some sentries 7711 attacking the empty house. the police then join the battle with its special tank/car, and the fire clean up the burning house once the robots were driven away. :-) i'm so full of imagination. :-D

okay - you want to know how? here's how... target for items ending midnight or early morning. no one (at least for US auctions) stay up to bid at that time. peak bidding is around 8pm to 11pm est based on my experience. doesn't matter whether you included the description or not, or the set number. my experience is that there are quite a few bidders out there who specifically query for lego and only bid on items about to end (<3 hours). bids go up like crazy for those sets. -
well i went yesterday (Sunday) and they were at normal price (or overprice since they sell at higher than srp).
-
despite the uses, sets are play sets ultimately. with that in mind, i can see how a police hq can be incorporated into the batman theme, but rooftop with gargoyle or a wayne mansion is probably too scenic to be a playset. is there any wonder why the batman sets have shooters? they are playsets meant for 7-12 y-o. arkham asylum is the only thing which borders scenic/playset. still it has a lot of trapdoors, etc to be more playset than a display.
-
so far i only see bionicle and dino attack sets on clearance. will probably check back later this month on any star wars set or the batboat set. (i already have all the sets i need for exo-force except for the second wave which they do not have yet).
-
agree with suvie. there is batmobile, batwing, batsled, bat cycle, batboat, bat glider. what other vehicle can you think of? bat-tank? bat-mech? i think the batman theme will likely end next year. it won't last more than 2 series. there aren't as many superheroes that you can build lots of sets from either. as can be seen from the spiderman sets, that was a total flop. you can't make much out of superman theme. there's superman and his superpower. that's about it. to sell lego, you need a theme which involves lots of gadgets and machines. what superhero besides batman that uses gadgets to defeat the baddies?

Have you ordered any of the new Toa yet?
natelite replied to vahkimetru's topic in LEGO Action Figures
i got the latest catalog. the bionicle playsets have interesting parts. the toa minifigs also use the exo-force robots arms as arms. the good thing is they come in interesting toa colors, ie blue, white, red, green, etc. -

i like jimmy sunder. *sad* -
hmm, they have made brick sharks before (creator series). so if they intend to recreate pirates, i think they should follow the lead from vikings and instead of giving <insert that tiresome argument> junks like dino attack, they should give brick sharks. it would be quite interesting if they come up with giant sea creatures (like giant octopus, giant squid, giant whale, giant sharks) to battle with the pirates. it could be a popular theme!

it's kinda ironic that people memorialize the dead. the money and attention would have been better used on the living. not saying anyone in particular, just my thoughts. with that said, death is unavoidable just like taxes. spend the time and money on your parents while they are still here...not when they are gone. most people are not mature enough to know that. most weekends are spend on self centered activities, maybe it is because of the consumer society we live in where everything is about making your life better. or maybe it's because of the longer working hours. sleep is already a luxury, and many go through the week with only 6 hours...so naturally the easiest to cut from one's busy schedule would be time for others. live life with no regret/remorse. people tend to compensate when it's too late. sorry, but the dead have no feelings...it's better to do all those special things while the person is still alive. perhaps people do things for the dead not to gain the approval of the dead but the approval of others? for example, paying for an elaborate burial to portray the image of a filial son? hmm, this theory seems to fit today's self centered society. it's always interesting to study human psychology... sorry about your loss, kahgarak. i'm sure she has lived a full meaningful live and there are many good things she has given to the world.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1060675 that sure looks like a bull's head to me. i guess they dropped it because minotaur did not exist in viking folklore.
-
is that a giant or a minotaur? it has horns. it would have been a great set, imo. great for army building. but even with the released sets you can get good horde army. you have your wolf riders, dragon riders, and the vikings with catapults and battering rams and etc. the minotaur/giant would have been better than the trolls from the HP series.

What ever happened to Dino Attack?

well, the 7477 copter is now on sale for $51. available from target. in shops only. i think the price is going to fall further since they are obviously trying to clear the shelfs for the new summer sets. -

"sniping" doesnt always work. i have also made bids 1 day prior and won. bidding your max dollar is stupid. you often end up paying max dollar. i have seen people paying $20 for a clone trooper because the idiot probably bid $100 thinking he really wanted the minifig at all cost. i have in some cases bid by the lowest increment (eg $0.50 or $1) to bid up the price, making idiots like that pay more than they needed to. i have seen instances where 6211 isd went above $100 not including the shipping charges. hmm, why, when the shops are retailing for $100? these are us bidders btw, not foreign buyers. the key is patience, and smart bidding. :) -

i still believe ebay holds great bargain. at least i can speak for the US ebay. if you are patient and don't overbid in your zeal you can get a great bargain. i have routinely seek for 30% discount even after shipping compared to retail and have won! to give you some idea to the savings i get, the sets i have won to-date (all price are after shipping cost): 6209 slave 1 for $40 7705 gate assault for $20 7781 batmobile vs twoface for $24 7782 batwing vs joker for $33 7781 & 7782 loose without box without instruction for $30 (instructions and original batmobile rims i bought off bl for ~$4 -- the order contained other items so i have to proportionate the cost). the items were in the original plastic bags but i could see the rims were the newer (uglier) version so i bought the older rims off bl. 6208 b-wing and the jedi star fighter vs droid ship and the clone scout walker (i dont remember the set numbers) for $35 (total 3 sets are $65 retail) 7477 t1 typhoon for $46 (i have seen someone got one for only $36 - was on my watch list) all items were misb!!! or were advertised as misb. i have my trick of winning super low bids but not going to reveal it as it's still my primary venue for buying cheap lego sets. :-P recently target is selling the bionicle playsets at a 50% discount. the battle of metru nui is going for like $35 i think. but i doubt any shop would sell star wars, batman or exoforce sets at a huge discount, so i'm still going to stick with ebay for now. :-) -
What ever happened to Dino Attack?
natelite replied to rhymer's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
sorry but no helicopter should be as large as a space ship. that thing is practically 2-3 storey tall, in minifig terms. short ladders i can see that happening. 2-3 storey tall ladders? are you serious? the jeep was as large as a tank, mf speak again. it's just not the right size. -

natelite replied to rhymer's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
difference is mech is futuristic so the pilot has a platform to enter the cockpit (rather than "jump" into the cockpit by himself. this is like the space shuttle where an elevated platform allows the pilot to enter the spaceship. that's what the little hanging seat in the 7709 sentai fortress set suppose to do. to bring the pilot from the platform to the mech's cockpits. a jeep or helicopter does not or should not require any assistance in entering the cabin. while i agree the design was "WOW" it was simply not MF size. it's more like technic figure size. simply said, the helicopter is larger than the sail barge, millenium falcon and is about the size of the star destroyer. while i know the "Real" star destroyer was supposed to be larger than the 6211 model, still the 4504 Millenium Falcon was just about the right MF size and that was still smaller than the helicopter. that is just wrong. :-( but that's only my opinion. :-P any thoughts?
