  1. not good. now i have got to replace all my horses. i wonder if the old horses are going to climb in value. i always thought that lego caricatures living things, making them blocky and flat like. hence the mf has its blocky figure, the horse has flat head, the dog too has flat head, the sharks, stingrays, they all have very basic recognizable shapes instead of realistic figures. if they are going to make everything more realistic, then the mf is going to look quite out of place with the more realistic animals. sooner or later, we'll be getting a redesign of the classic mf. the question then begs whether AFOLs will then begin replacing their collections with the new mfs. this is no doubt going to be a huge business for TLC to continue selling duplicates of everything else all in the name of "upgrading". no point in collecting mfs now. time to wait for the redesigned and more articulated mfs with elbow and knee joints - and also proper ball joints for shoulders, hips and necks. you know it is coming. how else is TLC going to get you to buy your umpteenth darth vader, r2-d2, c-3po and luke skywalker?
  2. you mean a belly dancer. umm, that would be cool...
  3. Space Marines and the Nebular Pirates! Space Marines - well, they look just like the CMF S7 galaxy patrol, maybe in diff color - blue/white or dark red/gold perhaps? Nebular Pirates would be a mismash of heavily armed and armored gangster types. some would be green to cater to the space orks group. some in tan, some in purple (we're still missing dark purple heads), with alien prints. we'll need alien prints for the good guys too...after all, not all humans are good guys and vice versa. maybe reuse the purple pimper head in space police 3. that's a very good head mold since it is almost identical to a normal mf head.
  4. it's been suggested but TLC hasn't decided to use the suggestion. not sure why. i don't think anyone gotten an official reply on the lack of modularization of themes/sets.
  5. i don't see why hulk needs a diff size head. small head, large body is just fine. as for hunching, it can easily be achieved by building on the torso to achieve the look. ie. like that of samukai or that skeleton general from ninjago. though i would think hulk standing straight is fine, without having to hunch over and look like a monkey. also, the prototyped overlord would have been great as sauron in LoTR theme. it can also be used as the balrog, among other things. :D
  6. i like his mega figures. too bad tlc hasn't make any yet. in fact, we're seeing the hulk in the same mold as the castle trolls. they should make the legs movable like a normal minifigure and like what toth designed as the mega figures. i think those would be extremely popular. e.g. frankenstein from the monster fighter could have been a mega figure, made more menacing than the cmf series. it would have generated more interests from lego fans. also, the monster from the mines of moria too...and hulk, and potentially the fairy tale or fantasy series. i like his cyclops and ogres. his barbarian is pretty good too. if only tlc make heroica into a theme. so many good mega figures and minifigures they can make from toth's portfolio. i'm sure there's plenty of demand from lego fans for those. also a mega figure designed with a removable torso, could also be made into a mecha suit. potentially bringing in new fans such as warhammer 40k, maybe even steampunk theme, etc. hmm, maybe i should design one and come up with a nice theme to use that design. :D
  7. since LotR theme is coming in the summer, we can't have orcs but what about lizardmen and gnolls? so far we have only the minotaur in the medieval fantasy monster "genre." lizardman would have killer crocs headprint but in olive green, a skull cap, ripped olive green torso with gladiator belt print, new scaly pauldrons, two daggers for accessories (like Mia's from ninjago). gnolls would have custom head with elongated snout, torso with fur prints (like david crockett), ragged cape (like boba fett's), oversized scale pauldron (only on one side), and maybe a staff to make it a shaman.
  8. that is one cool mf! missing a shell though.
  9. cool suggestion. sit in well with the costumed mf series, like godzilla, gorilla suit, bunny rabbit, etc. turtle head helmet should fit over the head much like the godzilla's. and a shell over the back like the godzilla's tail piece. can i also suggest a lion suit, a tiger suit and a bear suit? those headgears would be fantastic to use to make custom roman officers or even gauls. throw in some pauldrons and tattered capes....brilliant!
  10. there is a difference in that one's medieval and the other is modern. just like how even the current police sets policemen do not carry a gun, while we still have muskets, guns and pistols for indy jones, pirates, etc. i'm going to stick with my assessment that it's highly unlikely to be made.
  11. many have posted this idea too and i like it. i think TLC re-produced the helmet in the recent pirates theme b4 it was discontinued when PoTC was introduced. they should remake it again since the mold was clearly available. they should also reintroduce the armor mold from the 90s too. so far it only came in chrome silver. would be nice to see it in metallic silver, metallic gold and metal black (dark bley metal). would blend in nicely with the other historical figures too.
  12. i don't think having a gambling den is culturally sensitive nor socially acceptable for the lego group. but i think there is a market for chinese architecture. i would however recommend something more similar to the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as opposed to your suggestion above. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grauman's_Chinese_Theatre
  13. i think ballerina is kinda hard to do. the most distinct features are the shoes and tutu but the shoes are kinda hard to do with the minifig's blocky legs. i think the spanish bullfighter is a rather good idea and will very much come in a later serie. we have quite a few national figures like the royal guard for UK, the statue of liberty, the leprechaun, and i think the spanish bullfighter will come soon, if not next (s8). the barmaid might be too controversial (i.e. promoting alcoholic beverage doesn't go well with the lego brand), so i think a german in laderhousen will be coming soon. probably a dutch milkmaid in clogs will be too. too bad the current minotaur has normal legs and hands. i think that figure would be much better with woody sized hands and legs since they are supposed to be larger. same with the statue of liberty. i would switch them if only they come in brown. :-P i like to see in future series, the use of larger arms and legs to depict larger mfs. as for suggestion, i would go with a chinese fortune god for heritage symbol. it's quite popular around the lunar new year. like this: http://www.atchleylab.org/FortuneGod.jpg will need a new hat and can reuse the sensei wu's beard in black plus new torso prints. as accessory, perhaps a new gold nugget mold. and since castle/fantasy theme is discontinued to make way for LotR, perhaps we can have a new troll or golem mf to continue with the monsters theme. this time, i would like to see a new head for the troll or golem with bulked up chest like the minotaur. and reuse the caveman club as accessory but in grey or dark grey. btw, is tarzan in s7 getting a new loincloth? if not, they should totally consider it as it can be reused as a troll's loincloth too. but in diff color/pattern of course.
  14. it's not direct sales tax. sometimes countries also charge import tax or other form of taxes on foreign made goods in order to favor domestic producers. most countries do this. if not taxes, it would be rebates for domestic and surcharge for foreign. other than that, perhaps union rules, and other cost of business makes the shipping charges more expensive (like dock workers, etc). because US is a free market, literally, there is very little extra charges besides sales tax. only very restrictive list of goods and products are taxed, like steel bars for e.g. most are free. which is why you dont get charged taxes for importing lego (which is classed as a toy) from elsewhere. there is a import and custom charge for almost every other country on lego or other toys. just ask the BL resellers who ship internationally.
  15. paint by hand. i used a marker instead of a paint brush. looks better than with a paint brush, though still not as smooth as airbrush though. can get them at any hobby shop. question to luxorv - i am thinking of applying stencils and recreate the cape and maybe a shield, etc. is it okay if i use a generic stencil or get one from the web? i was thinking it should be fine if it's generic but the rules say it has to be your own work. was just wondering.
  16. thanks, big cam! luxorv - i've fixed the link. not sure what happened there. not many pics actually, i should take more over the weekend.
  17. Death Angel Omega (or Zee) -------------------------- Background: The most feared of all knights, he is known as Omega aka Zee as he is always the last one standing in any tournament. He's also called Zee because of the insignia on his pauldron with the letter "Z". Goliath in size, he stands at 10' tall, and known to have herculean strength, no man has ever defeated him. However, little else is known of the knight and no one has ever seen his face. Shrowded in secrecy, he seems to only seek for a worthy opponent but alas, none has ever stood up to the challenge. He is also known as the death angel because only death has met any knight brave enough to challenge the death angel. More background: Surprise, surprise! the DA is actually a female but since no one has ever seen her/his face and since this is medieval times and given her height and stature, everyone thought she was a he. She is born with genetic disorder which caused her to grow to mirror a giant in strength and size. rejected by humans, she grew up with the wolfmen and gained their thirst for violence, learning to kill, steal, and pillage. --------------- I wanted to make a mega-sized knight and also a female knight since the last official female knight we had was princess storm from 2000. Got a woody figure and painted the arms and legs silver. Wanted to make decals too but not good at it. the cape is from zurg. painted black on the red end and stuck on an emblem the old fashion way (cut and paste - literally). Sorry, no time to digitize and print. Cost of material - insignificant. maybe like $2 or so. just destroyed some good lego parts though. :-P I'm showing her face here just for the sake of the contest. in the story, no one has ever seen her face. just imagine that's the deal, okay. ;-) group photo just to show how much larger she is. the size is kinda lost when she is standing alone. 18. is it too late now to join? :-P
  19. the tennis guy's hair is the exact replica of the barbarian from heroica. only in mf scale. :-P
  20. that sucks. why LOTR?!?! they could have made something original like mf version of heroica adventures. the sets would have been a lot cheaper too without adding licensing cost.
  21. how about the heroes of heroica? a barbarian, a knight, an archer, a rogue, a cleric and a sorceror.
  22. if only the space marine has a visor and is printed...instead of facial prints. i'm sure they will sell like hotcakes. right now, none of the visors are ever printed. the crosshairs and the other data info should have been printed on the visor...that will allow more customization. right now, you can't really army build since they will all look like clones as you can't switch the heads around.
  23. just reproducing the games themselves in mf scale would yield 5-6 sets. for e.g. draida bay: set 1 - a small boat carry 2 heroes + 2 orcs on the beach. set 2 - orc captain + 2 orc guards + 2 heroes battling out in the forest (trees, traps and spikes, etc). waldruk forest: set 1 - one flying shadow druid battling the heroes in the enchanted forest (lots of mushroom decors like from HP set). perhaps tlc can design a new disc shooter and build the shadow druid into a large figurine, which shoots these magical discs at the heroes. set 2 - giant spiders + werewolves or better yet, werewolves (like cmf version) riding on giant spiders fighting the heroes. fortraan - well, giant castle, lots of orcs + heroes = massive win? lots of places to put in play feature. just take some of the cues from the 10176 set instead of recent castles which are more boring. 10176 is great, there's a trap door, a dungeon, a library, etc. many compartments in which a child can use his imagination.
  24. here's something i don't get. they came up with heroica, which folks, like eb members here, have morphed it into an rpg. by and large, it's a huge hit. why not just create a new theme called heroica? i would love to get the barbarian, knight, wizard, rogue, archer in mfs instead of the microfig. it'll be great! since you can keep producing new made up sets battling orcs, golems, giants, etc. the possibilities are endless. heroes storming dangerous towers to rescue princess from evil orcs. or defending fortraan from evil orcs. etc. this theme should cater well to medieval fans. many of the heroes can be recycled into everyday folks and army builders can collect the knight char to make into battalions. and when it becomes popular enough to stand alone, you can even start producing merchandises like the macro figure alarm clocks, or midi figure led torchlights, t-shirts, cookie cutter, ice cream molds. every year you can have upgrades to the chars, like maybe new armor prints or new accessories, etc. to keep it alive even longer, they can even retire older chars, and introduce new chars every 3 years or 5 years. like maybe have a new female char to lure the girls in. or just keep expanding the merry band although that'll probably not work since it will grow to be too big. then morph the brand into a big mmorpg called lego heroica online! it'll be like WoW except in lego bricks. it might even succeed where lego universe failed. tie in every new expansion with say a new char, and a new set release...wow, if i were on lego's executive board, i would say i can already smell the money. :P
