  1. I am beginning to think that these figures aren't as exclusive as they said they are. Observe the ebay sellers and they are usually the same few individuals. On occasions, a 0 feedback (or low feedback of between 1 to 10) seller would list them. Probably related to the same individuals who are trying to spread out the selling to appear innocuous. How can individuals get so many in stock? Check the feedback. They sell these like 5 per week. For 2 months running, that's 40 per person. I reckon approximately 200 would have been sold by now. That's like 20% of released figures. Maybe it's plausible but why always those individuals? Are they reproducing them and selling them as authentic versions? Does TLC need to make these with holographic authentication seals now to combat the pirates? With the high quality printing available now it's not hard to imagine it's doable - to print the figures and the cards.
  2. what has that got to do with the original statement? my answer was directly in relation to the statement that the breastplate was the only armor that goes in the front. that is not true as i have just demonstrated. your respond is illogically applied only to serpentines. where did i ever mention serpentines?
  3. i don't think i like the sound of the sets. too much like insectoids.
  4. not true. there's also the blacksmith apron or cape that is one-sided. you can use that as an apron or a cape. you also have the old and new life vests which are one-sided also.
  5. i think it's the popularity of the animal suit guys from the cmf which prompted this new theme. pure speculation though. but entirely possible. some of the animal suit cmf figures are holding up very well in the secondary market. plus in the suggestion thread, we've been asking for things like wolf head guy, lion head guy, etc... well, what do you see in chima? expect lots of customization of the parts into thundercats figures!
  6. nope. it will look more like the lizard man/godzilla from the CMF series, i.e. molded croc-shape headgear over regular mf head.
  7. ??? you do know when the modern automobiles were created, they were meant to replace horses, right? that's why the torque power of engines is still measured in hp or horse power. besides, nothing in lego kiddy themes make any sense. what is the connection between ninjago, animals, bikes, dragons, snakes, and skeletons anyway?
  8. it means energy horse. just see what the minifigs are riding. it makes perfect sense. or as i said earlier, chi = energy or pronounced as CHEE, and ma is pronounced meh, a sound bite for lack of enthusiasm. CHEE-meh. or it could be a sound bite for CHEE-meh-kan, a swear word in cantonese.
  9. it is rare because none of those sets are in production.
  10. like all original theme sets, not very much. it's only worth what you are willing to pay for it. i think around $100-150 used would be about right.
  11. i agree with you on chi. but i think it's chee - meh.... "meh" because it's lackluster. as for the pics... i don't quite understand the logic of removing them since this was of a physical product which was ebay'ed in July. this means someone actually has the prototype on hand. i can understand removing confidential pics of preliminary boxes, but an actual product? well... it blows the mind what we've been asked of by TLC. well, i don't run the show here so my opinion doesn't matter.
  12. +1 supersympa. Yet another excellent trade.
  13. a white galaxy patrol would be great. we'll need a dark red, a dark tan/orange and a black one. from the dark blue from s7, and those above new colors, i could make my new neo-classic space men.
  14. i dunno. i think trans-orange visor is more epic than clear. and i also hope they remake the sw rebel pilots helmet to be able to fit a visor and have those in trans-orange too.
  15. i think having a differently colored rare figure is a good idea. how they will implement this is the million dollar question. though i would suspect this could lead to more opened bags in the retail stores.
  16. you'd probably need new torsos too to overcome the perception of stubby legs.
  17. the reason we go gaga over the evil robot is because the printings are very good. you can reuse the torso and the head in various ways.
  18. you obviously haven't seen this.
  19. Krylon Crystal Clear. Got it. Can't wait to see what you do with them!
  20. the scarecrow, i would agree, since i gave the suggestion. the yeti - not so much - since it's mainly a white ape (sasquatch or whatever). they could reissue it as a white recolored version of the original ape in those minifig packs.
  21. Wow... it's hardly visible. It's a very good finish. I'll have to note to use Krylon if I make any customs. Bricktw's bucklers are pretty awesome too. have you tried that?
  22. nice! not much to add to it, except maybe you can color the studs on the shield in a different color - say black, perhaps - might make it better to contrast with the gold/silver. don't want you to ruin your custom - so maybe you can take a picture and test it out in photoshop first before you do it. oh, and even if you use a sharpie for your colors, you may need to apply a coat of lacquer to seal it in. i colored my woody long arms and legs silver and the color rubbed off in a few months.
  23. what you are doing is selective reasoning. "Oh, Mines of Moria is more expensive in the UK, so it's unfair." "Just because currencies fluctuate doesn't mean that prices can't be compared internationally." - just listen to yourself. Are you going to compare carrots next or gas prices? Brent oil price is more expensive than WTI now when historically they have been pretty close. Why don't you rant and compare that too? The Big Mac comparison is a big joke. Big Mac is a cheap fast food in the west, while they are considered rich man's junk food in parts of Africa and Asia. Why not compare those there? How about going with living space comparison? a West London apartment cost more than GBP2M, compared to USD2M in NY. By your logic, I guess lego sets are way too cheap in Britain since the price parity using living space as the basis seems to all indicate that it's way too cheap in UK. I rest my case. Comparing lego set prices across region is a moot point. It has been and always is. If you want to compare, compare CPI and how lego in your base country price has changed vs 10 years ago.
  24. I think you're reading too much into it. What other colors can the Ghost be in? It has to be in GiTD, unless TLC manage to come up with alternative GiTD colors. Having said that, I do think it's beneficial to come up with newer GiTD colors. I am sure plenty of SW fans would renew their purchases if TLC release new figures with lightsabers which can glow green, blue, red, and purple. I think christo the customizer from south africa used to sell GiTD lightsabers before. So I'm quite sure TLC could do it if they put their hearts into it.
  25. UK prices are actually far better than US. The UK prices included VAT, while the US prices do not. EU prices are probably better than US prices but we don't know yet at this stage. Actually talking about regional prices is a moot point because FX rates fluctuate so much these days that what seem like a good deal before won't be in a year's time. For e.g. a year ago EUR was 1.4 to the USD. This year's low was 1.2. As the EU price includes VAT, it's much lower than US pricing. Or take AUD, which was 0.6 to USD in 2009 and is now 1.05 to USD. I think people are getting too worked up over what is a "fair" or "unfair" price. You should be comparing what you are getting 10 years ago vs now and see if the price has been stable or not, instead of comparing UK vs US, or elsewhere vs US. US prices when you compare 10 years ago and now has been increasing more rapidly - partly due to this animosity from EU and UK fans over what they perceived as favorable US pricing. Partly, also because of all that QE money recently and the easy money/low interest environment by Greenspan caused the USD to depreciate so much against other major currencies.
