while the bavarian is rather boring, there's something interesting about the parts... it seems he is getting a white feather plume. that is quite rare indeed. guess BL price is going to fall for that piece now!!! -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

i'm also on the "poor serie" side of the fence for series 8. while i get that rehashes are good to get variety, it doesn't make sense to make more of cheerleaders. let me clarify the point. you can easily get "variety" by changing the torsos. there are lots of city theme torsos which you can use to make different cheerleaders. you can even swap the female tennis player for a cheerleader too. the only plus this one brings is another color of pom poms. given that this is only the second rehash of a cheerleader vs 3rd or 4th skateboarder, i can easily overlook this point. pirate captain - plenty of those before so this version is extremely boring and useless, imo. skier - second rehash of a skier, so that's okay. though there were plenty of skiers from advent calendars and you can easily mix them with snowboarders to get "varieties" so the only saving grace here is the skis. nice new purple ones. football player - not different from the hockey player. a second rehash though is okay. not great but tolerable. evil robot - another rehash - again, not great but tolerable. trader - another man in suit. how many suits do you need? if the suit has been white, i can still think of buying it but it's black again. how many black suits do we need. the only good point is the black bowler hat. that's all. cowgirl - underwhelming. i would have preferred a western lady, with a can-can skirt, big ribbon bonnet and maybe a fan or something. how many cowgirls are historical accurate? plus you can't even swap out the hairpiece. you can't army build because it only has one hair color and one hat color. i would probably just get a set to complete my collection, that's all. the only figure i want multiple of is the conquistador. the retro diver is good, and i'll probably get a few for trades. apart from these two, the rest are just okay. and the fact that there are so many rehashes this series just make it super dull. 3-4 i can tolerate but when you get more than half of the series being rehashes or male/female remake, it just too much. no wonder they didn't reveal the series until now. -
or you can print your own. or wait for a customizer to print one for you.

arch angels or icarus, it doesn't matter. just as long as we get some minifig in bird wings. need the equivalent arch devils or a figure in batwings that's not batman. we need the wings in black not dark blue. arch angels would be great because so far we don't have any feather side plumes yet. i'd be able to drill the holes in the hockey player's helmet where the indents are and stick those feathered plumes in them and put them on my captain america for a nice little custom figure! -
Identifying Collectible LEGO Minifigures by their weight

i use dots to select and feel to verify. been hitting 100% mark every time. much quicker too. feeling alone can take a long time to find what you need. dots are quick and easy. though every now and then TLC will change the codes. series 6 changed codes 3 times. at least for the romans it did. i didn't need to check codes for series 7 since the most popular figures (gpatrol, aztec and evil knight) were easy to find.- 40 replies

Identifying Collectible LEGO Minifigures by their weight
natelite replied to bartneck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
if i read your table correctly, they aren't always distinct. for e.g. space marine and viking lady are almost similar to the point where you wouldn't know which is which unless you feel the pieces. Nerd, daredevil, hippy and easter bunny are too similar too. no go there either.- 40 replies

i have a first gen black batman that i could trade you for lex. interested?

after LotR i think they should go for a videogame license. i like to see them fighting MB for world of warcraft and also starcraft. i think starcraft might be a good replacement for sw too. the plentiful characters and vehicles and buildings to build would make the theme a classic very quickly. just not sure why they didn't go for it when it was suggested.

FBI Files Alias: Gargoyle Real Name: Unknown Age: unknown Abilities: Red laser beam and cold ice beam. Flight. Stealth. Alignment: Possibly good - mostly vigilante Famous quote: "I won't die not because I can't be killed but because I am no hero... " (in reference to the famous phrase by Harvey "Two-face" Dent). Second Famous quote: "I am not evil's greatest deterrent. Death is. And I am its weapon." Background: Not much is known of this mysterious figure other than his M.O. (modus operandi). He is given the nickname Gargoyle by the public because of his reputation of watching over the city and killing off "evil". He is not one to hesitate and the mere sight of him means impending doom. While police has never been able to get footage of his actions, eye witnesses said he swooped in almost bat-like and was often mistaken for batman, the other vigilante type that works in the night. The difference is that he does not disarm but disintegrate villains on sight. Some mobsters have taken up APV (armored personnel vehicles) to ward off his attack but his "death" rays cut through the thickest of steels or frozen the victim into solid ice cube. He also operates in broad daylight but can seemingly disappear at will. Most experts believe he has technology to blend into the shadows or to bend lights leading to invisibility. It's not known if the mysterious figure is actually human or alien in nature. Suspect is armed and extremely dangerous. Do not engage. Kill on sight. Folder when moderated. Cost: Armor: $0.80 Torso: $1.00 Legs: $0.50 Visor: $1.40 Guns: $0.50 x 2 Total: $4.70

what would be great is to have an exclusive series with only the deck of cards minifigures, i.e. king of hearts, queen of hearts, jack of hearts, ace of hearts, clubs, spades, and diamonds. that's 16 right there. ace would be represented by a knight and jack a bishop. done! -

well said, Itaria No Shintaku. being (or acting) mature doesn't mean having to agree or like everything that tlc dishes out. that's called fanboi you can add me to the list of disappointed afols. in fact, my kids were equally disappointed. the only thing they are looking forward to is the enemy robot...whatever that is. -

all of them are terrible but that's a silly comparison anyway. it's like comparing a C- with Ds... i can just imagine homer or marge saying "oh bart, you got a C-...wow...that's much better than Ds...." isn't it pointless? just because something is mediocre doesn't justify its existence because it's better than junk. 8 will probably be the least of the CMFs series until they come up with worse. -

i think santa will be using the gnome's hat and the fisherman's beard. but i agree that this series is underwhelming. every year, every advent calendar, we get a santa. so why yet another santa in cmf? granted, it's always ragtop hat and long beard but just how many santas does one need? it's like the rehash of c-3po, it totally killed the c-3pos from years ago. no one needs (or wants for that matter) 10 versions of c-3po... and at the current rate TLC is producing bobas, i'll be saying "no one needs 10 versions of boba fetts" in 2 years' time. totally ridiculous. so many good ideas around and the best they can come up with is a santa? -
It's called irony...and it was meant to be that way

i just thought of an interesting character and may just drop this and start again.

it's hard to make any gothamite stands out and i was going to make a wannabe hero who's very poor but it was against the rule. since gothamites are either very rich or very poor, i don't want to make a hobo since there's really nothing to talk about a hobo. so...rich it is!

NightHawk! Defender of the Sky!
natelite replied to sok117's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
i think both are pretty original in terms of build, feel and design. one of you might as well rename as nightfalcon and no one would know any better. see, yours is a hero and he attacks with his legs and use his hands just to fly. the other is a villain, attacks with sonic blast and claws. flys with jet pack with aid of gliding wings. very different. maybe someone just rename as night falcon or nightowl or something like that. -
Name: Freddie Knaup Age: 65 Occupation: Oil Baron, Industrialist, Philanthropist Background: Freddie and Mr Wayne (Bruce's dad) were really good friends who competed with each other when they were building Gotham City (like Jobs and Gates). Unfortunately Mr Wayne was more trusting and optimistic than Mr Knaup and refused to hire bodyguards despite Gotham's rapidly deteriorating public safety. As we all know, Mr Wayne was gunned down and Gotham City became the crime cesspool that it is now. Mr Knaup continued working and building Gotham City and becoming incredibly rich in the process. He is the second richest man (first being Bruce Wayne, I think) in Gotham City and hires many bodyguards to protect him from the craze villains, mafias and corrupt police. Cost: Hat: top hat - $0.30 Head: Explorer S2 - $0.70 Torso: Vampire S2 - $1.00 Legs: Black - $0.30 Pauldron: $2.00 x 2 Cape: $2.00 Cane: $0.10 Total: $8.40

i think if lego were to remold animals, they should do it right from the grounds up. this means having exchangable bodies and exchangable heads. after all, lego is all about building and not so much one-piecey. imagine if you can swap out the horse's head and make a centaur with a minifigure's head, for e.g. or mix a lion's head with bear's body, give it a pair of wings and a serpent's tail and you get a chimera. or mix an oversized eagle's head with a horse's body and a pair of wings and you get a gryphon. there won't be so much asking of let's make so-and-so...and instead the action will be left to the fans. the way to make this work is to make the body parts swappable. as for specific animals - i'm mostly for larger mountable mammals mainly to be used in fantasy medieval settings. as such, i would like the: 1. bear (swappable version and with proper slot for a rider - not the current one) 2. lion 3. giant wolf (or dire wolf) 4. wild boar (giant version) 5. tiger (or giant cats - recolor for cheetah, puma, jaguar). 6. giant eagle 7. elephant 8. rhino 9. dragon (rehash of the smaller dragon from the fright knights, not the 06/07 versions). another plus, is the versatility of having animal body parts to be used as deco pieces. e.g. the head pieces can be built as trophies to be mounted on walls. stick the head piece on a round shield or a 2x2 plate and use it as a wall trophy.
