Also noted the technic excavator is missing from this catalogue and also one of the coastguard sets, the one with the big RIB and unimog. Paul . . .

Don't get too disappointed yet. Check the part numbers after the new catalogue has been released next weekend. Often sets are priced at about 33%-50% of the old catalogue price. For example I paid

New TECHNIC sets for 2008
paul_delahaye replied to Conchas's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My Comments, 4WD Car - Nice to see some more components for the power functions range, light, pole reverser switch and if I'm not mistaken it looks like a new style of motor? I guess last year we had the medium motor and the XL motor so maybe we get a large motor? It does seem a bit of a letdown that they have not included a remote control when you see how cheap they are selling them for on Shop at Home! Telehandler, looks good, lots of functions. Only disappointment seems to be the last minute thought of how to tilt the forks, just the same mechanism as used on the last telehandler a couple of years ago which from memory everyone did not like. Excavator - You can never have enough of these :-) -

Thanks, Pics look fine on my 20" widescreen 1680 x 1050 res. I've already reduced the size of them by 50% Maybe this is why they look so big on everyone elses screen? Merry Christmas Paul. . .

Here is the second impulse set I picked up at Bluewater at the weekend. I really should have got all 4 and the post van, the cargo plane, etc etc but I wanted to save some for next year :-) Front of box Back of box Another cracking price of 2.50 GBP Contents of the box, no big bricks Single sided instruction manual Just advertising on the back of the instructions 34 pieces within this set. 31 of them are used in the main set Fill up the skip (It's a shame they have not designed this so the skip can be emptied by the recycle truck 7991 from this year, maybe a mod required here?) Final clear up All done 3 spare pieces, never a bad thing having extra rubbish Overall, I would say 7/10 Because, the wheels on the hand cart are too far apart and the lack of a lifting point on the skip for the recycle truck. Comments??? Merry Christmas Edit by Hobbes: Replaced pictures with clickable thumbs and corrected set number.

Picked up from the Lego shop in Bluewater yesterday Front of Box Back of Box Price 2.50 GBP Contents, a very small instruction manual Instructions (Front) Intsructions (Back) 25 Pieces (23 used in the model) Regular construction mini fig Start of the assembly Roll in the drum Just attach the drum A little tap with the hammer! (hammer not included!) Wheel it into position Time to start mixing, also time for a well earned Tea Break, The cement is all ready now. And the 2 left over bits. Extra cement is always useful and not really wasted. Overall, a nice little set and I am pleased to see little sets appearing again at long last. The only negative is with the drum of the mixer, although the angle can be adjusted you cannot tip the contents out of the mixer. All in all I would say 8/10 for a good little set? Comments...? ? ? I too am lucky to own this great set. One of the best design bits in my opinion is the way both the boat and the jet ski's fit onto the same trailer! -

I too have bought this set and the only thing I notice which is a bit odd, with the exception of there being no floors in the house is the lack of a steering wheel in the car!

The description is "7731 post cargo" This may not be a post office as we are all hoping. It could well be a cargo terminal to go with the cargo plane. Maybe an extension to the airport. A bit like: 6391 Cargo centre Alternatively wouln't it be great if it was a sponsored set by a parcel company like UPS or FedEx?

Knowing how Lego town product ranges often follow track with playmobile releases: In 2005 playmobile release an airport, in 2006 lego release an airport In 2006 playmobile release an sea port, in 2007 lego release a seaport I noticed in a toy shop yesterday playmobile has put to market a very detailed post office I wonder what our chances are of seeing something along these lines in the later part of 2008?
