  1. I thought they only stuck to those axle pipe creations. I guess that market isn't as large as brick based construction toys.
  2. I forgot where but I saw a Viking MOC with snow as the landscape. IIRC the creator useed hinges plus plates to make the sloped terrain which can help you create terrain without using as many white bricks/plates.
  3. I want to get a Brickbeard's bounty, but it seems too large to fit in with anything. I am not sure 100usd for a giant ship is worth it when I don't have the money to build an awesome setting/base for it. I assume they will always have ships, and they even had two for the recent castle line. So I guess I could always wait until I have a tremendous amount of lego to get a sip set.
  4. For MOC's, pins can be used to make double sided stuff for symmetry. Haven't used it yet, a pic from the Kraken Attackin' review. And the technic pins can be used to connect structures/dioramas/etc. Large scale MOC's
  5. I have 2 cannon battles lol. Well I might pick up the other pirate sets later on. My main focus right now is castle. Well pirates can fit in somewhat, as well pirates, or bandits or civilians. Brickbeard's bounty looks somewhat awesome, and the Imperial Ship looks amazing. But chances are I won't buy them, because they seem out of scale compared to everything else that is out there. Those ships are huge. They look like they easily dwarf the other pirate sets that are currently out. And probably as big as the buildings in the castle line if not bigger. So I might just end up getting the smaller sets for smaller boats for future use with castle scenes.
  6. Shouldn't this be in the buy/sell/trade section?
  7. Oops didn't realize this was an old topic. I saw this link in another thread. Well you don't have to twist. Twisting is just for the gundam model pieces because those are snap built so its quite difficult to remove the pieces otherwise. For the lego, I just use the same message as the brick separator. Just stick in between and push down/up.
  8. I avoid stacking plates, and putting plates on top of other plates unless they overlap a second plate which makes removal much easier. I sometimes use the brick seperator, but I also use this separator from Bandai. Got it for free with one of the sets. It works great with lego do. Dunno if its less or more damaging than the brick separator.
  9. MMV is an exclusive but I have seen other sites sell them at the same price as lego. Anyway, this ship is great. But the price. If it was 100usd, I would have picked it up for sure, but now that I have seen the price, probably never.
  10. No clue how accurate Medieval 2 total war is, but most medieval units have colorful patterns and/or animals on them. So I must have played the game too much, because that looks perfectly fine to me.
  11. I guess this topic has helped me see the "light". I will try my best to get extras of each castle set (the cheap ones) for a diverse amount of weapons, bricks and minifigs. And I guess 1 or 2 Medieval Market Villages. Then somepirates sets for civilian/bandit type minifigs.
  12. Since I missed most of the Fantasy Era sets, that lol. Well obviously that doesn't count. I have an old castle minifig pack, 2 forestmen, 1 peasant, 2 black falcons, and 1 crusader. So I guess forestmen or black falcons.
  13. How does the slanted awning/roof work? click hinge with plates?
  14. maybe they accidently used the speckled black silver color to make the spanner.
  15. my 2 cents. short lived themes means if you want to get the sets later one, its going to be difficult and expensive.
  16. Why is everyone so concerned about the head piece? There are other pieces that can be varied like torsos. For current crownies, there are 3 soldier torsos, then a king torso, and golden knight torso. Golden knight torso is so awesome, but expensive.
  17. No other comments on this awesome moc? This is probably frowned upon, but your gravesite inspired me to make a coffin. With a removable lid! Two studs to keep the minifig from moving Your moc is inspiring me to make some sort of graveyard. Going to try to make a large city like you have done.
  18. What set is that?
  19. The purposely made the torsos for tic tac toe, chess, and other promotional sets not the same quality as the ones that appear in the original sets. Not officially second edition minifigs, but you can treat them as such. If you want, you can replace the word second edition with lower quality, different mold, non standard ,etc. The point is, its of a quality that some customers do not approve of appearing in regular sets. I have a space minifig pack, the Blacktron II minfig it came with is the duplicate of the Blacktron II minifig that came with my Blacktron II sets. I can't say the same about my Trolls from the sets and battle packs. I personally don't mind to much because its a cheaper source of troll minifigs, but I definitely can see why some people would refuse to touch the Troll/Dwarf battlepacks.
  20. Let say, that the set minfigs have always been 1st edition, and the promotional minfigs have been second edition. Now second edition minfigs have appeared in the most recent castle battlepacks. It makes one wonder, what if Lego intends on including second edition minifigs in other sets too? I think that's one of the things that bother people about the battlepacks with the different torsos.
  21. Castle Battle Packs are meant for army building. Here is your complaint right here at Classic Castle. And this pic is from that topic
  22. well whether they increase the quality or not, people will still buy the castle battlepacks. And the pirates battle pack has 4 minifigs, and a monkey(guess its the 5th minifig?). Only 2 weapons iirc. And a treasure chest. No review so far, so I don't know if they improved the quality for that battlepack. But assuming you don't mind the lower quality torsos (as far as I can tell, only the torsos are lower quality), the tic tac toe set is the better deal. If that pirates chess set ever comes out, that will be the tictactoe + battlepack combined basically. I hope the battlepacks aren't expensive because of something lame like the plastic vs cardboard packaging (i would much prefer the cardboard), or presassembled vs non assembled (also would prefer assembling them myself, they put the brown beards on wrong for every dwarf battle pack!, annoying to remove imo). If so, some lego ambassador should tell Lego to go back to cardboard boxes, and unassembled minifigs. EDIT: For those unaware, the thread I found out about the lower quality torsos at Classic Castle and Pirates section
  23. Well, how about minifigs like the Royal Guard? It would be weird to have dozens of storm troopers, then have 2 royal guards. Of course maybe that's just me. I imagine the storm troopers were much cheaper than the royal guard minifigs.
  24. Hassasins Hide Out sounds like a great "battle pack"
  25. Is it just me or do the licensed battle packs come off as a better deal? Now I don't know how much the toy story one will cost, but the star wars clone wars battle packs are 11usd for 4 clone troopers, and a small vehicle, cis has 5 assassin droids and a small vehicle as well. the toy story one looks like it will have the jeep. While looking at the pirates and castle battle packs, they don't have small vehicles, just minifigs and cost 15usd.
