  1. would it be safe to assume that future castle/pirate lines will have battlepacks and chess(and other board games I guess) sets? If so, I might just save my money and buy only those sets for minifigs then pick a brick for bricks.
  2. The Tower, I will probably make it smaller So it can fit in with this wall. Connecting them together.
  3. The minifigs look great. IMO, it gives them that commando team feel to it.
  4. I like the spear one better, a shield doesn't look right as a standard imo.
  5. looks great. I notriced the silver swords are not being held by their handles in the warehouse. I imagine so you can prevent any scratching.
  6. Here are my 2 cents on the names that they listed on the poll Lego Knights - doesn't really fit, knights sounds like it just describes the minifigs Lego Kingdoms - I like it, it has a nice general but specific enough feel to it. Which means they could release viking sets and ninja sets (and any other civilization) under the name and it would still fit. And if they delve into more fantasy, kingdoms would still work fine. Lego Kings Realm - Sort of like Kingdoms, but with the emphasis on the king instead of the kingdom. Lego Swords and Shields - Sounds like something out of an rpg, I imagine with more emphasis on fantasy than reality Lego Castle is fine, but not all civilizations had castles, but most if not all civilizations had kingdoms.
  7. I ordered a bunch of 2x2 plates to make stairs, then I just checked and 2x3 plates are cheaper by 2 cents!. I could have easily adjusted the design to save some money. Oh well. Also a 2x8 plate is 2 cents more than a 2x10 plate. =(. I could have readjusted my designs to save me minor amounts of money. Well their free shipping offer is ending soon, so I probably won't make any orders anytime soon. IIRC its 5 USD shipping per 25USD on an order. Seems steep to me. I ordered a bunch of red slopes, and gray bricks to make a tower. plates for staircase, and some brown bricks for ground.
  8. And here is what I was talking about. Not the best solution, since it only works for small towers. For bigger ones, you would need something more creative.
  9. For the round towers, if its small enough, you can use those 4x4 round plates. They fit perfectly with the 1x2 bricks, and 1x1 round bricks.
  10. For a while, I was considering picking up some brickforge cows, and maybe some armor and helmets(seeing as how expensive they are at bricklink). But I have reneged that consideration. Definitely going to buy only from lego. Not sure if I want sets anymore aside from impulse sets and battle packs. The rest will come from pick a brick and brick buckets. Which no doubt limits my brick collection severely, but then again there are so many bricks I think I would go crazy if I tried to have some of everything. And looking at other lego sites has shown me that merely using only generic bricks you can make quite a lot of stuff. So it seems I will be a lego purist for life. Why spend 5 bucks on a brickforge cow when I can make my own out of plates/bricks? The selfmade one will probably be more posable too. Sure it will be ugly looking, but hey they can be taken apart and be reused.
  11. I am going to save myself the money and just get the impulse sets and battle packs. And just order bricks separately. Since I have noticed I don't really like the look of most of the sets I buy. They look great on the box, then they look not so great when built and I end up taking them apart for bricks
  12. this would be awesome if it applied online.
  13. I ordered a bunch of Red slopes, 1x2 bricks, and 1x4 bricks, and some plates. Going to make a tower out of it. This is the (partial) prototype I made from pieces I had lying around. Pretty bare, but reverse slopes will be used to support staircase and 8x8 plate at the top. Which means I will have to make some sort of balcony to allow minfiigs to look outside the tower. When the pieces arrive, I will build it then see how I can modify the wall to have it compatible with the tower. And thanks for that other link. And the reason why I like using smaller pieces, is because they have a more "realistic" look to it, and looks more detailed. Having giant pieces of "stone" looks odd imo. Although I will probably have to go with that route in bigger creations. For now, my creations are small enough that small bricks = awesome detail. I determined what I will based my first castle on. Warcraft 2 Human Keep. The first tower is costing me around 90usd, so x4 = ~400usd, and the rest will cost at least 600usd probably. 1000+usd for one castle. Sounds terrible. I guess I will have to make it shorter and smaller, or just build half of it to save money. Or buy bricks for it over the span of a year or more.
  14. That's why I am reluctant to consider buying stuff through bricklink. While, some bricks(some are about the same, and a few are even more expensive lol) are much cheaper through bricklink, TLC has superb customer service and policies. So I will continue to support them at the expense of my wallet. Plus they ship super fast at a somewhat decent rate (well us shipping is based on price and not weight of package). I got the "Your order has been shipped" email several days AFTER I received the package lol (which is awesome imo). I guess their shipping department is faster than their email department or something.
  15. That article is great. Thanks a lot, this is exactly what I have been wanting. I was considering posting a topic to see if there was a Castle tutorial with hints and tips. But I didn't think one one actually exist.
  16. Hm, you have a point. Well I decided to make a thin staircase with a 8x8 plate as a platform for them minifigs to walk upon. That means I will have to figure out how to make holes in the tower to allow them to see outside, but that can come later.
  17. I am designing a basic looking tower. Sloped roof. the tower itself will be say 20 bricks high, and 12 x 12. So the center 10x10 is blank as of now. Is filling the center with bricks necessary for a proper structure? So the cheap route would be leave it empty. The expensive route would pack it with bricks. And I am thinking a compromise would be a stacked cross providing some support to the tower. I assume huge creations would definitely require internal filler to prevent them from collapsing. I imagine my tower is a medium sized if not small creation. So people with experience with making a lot of structures without internal detail, feel free to give me some advice. And this probably wasn't clear, but I am designing it so I can buy the bricks. I don't have enough bricks to build something that big (my brick collection is puny)
  18. Well elves are an obvious addition. It would be awesome if they could branch off onto less used races. Like satrs, pigmen, centaurs, minotaurs, etc. Well pretty much all of the half man/half beast races. Always been a big fan of those. Maybe they can make goblins the same way they made dwarves. Just take troll heads/torsos and use short legs. Bam instant goblins.
  19. Hm, the Pirates battlepack is 15 usd for 4 minifigs and 2 weapons. terrible for a "battle" pack. but its great for the soldier officer.
  20. Lego should expand the current S@H Pick a Brick selection instead. I need more dark blue slopes. =(
  21. Well, assuming LEGO doesn't replace the gray colors anytime soon, I intend on buying more bricks to make more walls and hopefully make some sort of castle (but that will require much more bricks no doubt). I will consider tiles later, when I do more elaborate creations. I have a bunch of dark blue slopes from drawbridge defense, and they look pretty cool (although I think any colored slopes will suffice, I am not that picky when it comes to colors), so I will probably make towers too.
  22. I didn't realize how tiny 100 1x2 bricks was. Looks like I will buy thousands of them. So I made the best of it by using two BURP's and some extra pieces to beef up the wall. Overall view Generic minfigs. In the future when they come out with the next castle impulse set with armor, I will pick up dozens of those to gear up these unarmored soldiers. From the back you can see the BURP's and some filler
  23. hat's awesome. You could always make smaller scaled mobile suits if you don't have enough bricks. Or a ball. Can't require that many bricks.
  24. I had one replacement order. It arrived within a week iirc. And my pick a brick order arrived within 4 days (awesome imo).
  25. Now all you have to do is rebuild it many times and take more pics and you have yourself a brickfilm.
