  1. You're making one of Crowkillers models? Well it's a sellers-market on these parts...... And when you think this is expensive..... Check this part out!
  2. It's a fantastic set. Even when you are not a Technic-fan you really will enjoy the building process and the final result. Please explain!
  3. This video drives me crazy.... All the functions are flashing by. Wish TLG had made it a bit slower or concentrated on the functions!
  4. That's great! It is alway so cool to get an old motor working again! Was it "a leap of faith"? or did your mother made an "executive decision"?
  5. Thanks to all: My initial idea for this model was to get a toy-version of a solex not a "life-like"display-model. I've tried a all-black version. I didn't work for me and taking pictures of all-black models is/was a horror!
  6. It's fully functional like the real thing. The engine can be pulled on and from the frontwheel and a Technic Gear (12 Tooth Double Bevel) drives the engine. It's kinda hard to take detailed pictures. So hopefully you understand. I couldn't figure out a freewheeling rear-axle....
  7. Sometimes you've got to stop tinkering on a MOC: So here it is: The final Prototype of the Solex! New handlebars, new and improved and slimmer front-fork and some minor color-changes.
  8. It's your prerogative to say you don't like a model. But there is no way you can compare these two models. MOCs like these are always much more complicated. If you build a (MOC)model like this you don't have to work to certain standards, rules and marketing strategies like the LEGO-designers have to. And further more i do not agree with you. The 8070 is a great model. It is very well designed with appeal to both kids and AFOLs. It has some unseen features (in an official TLG set.) It retail prize is fairly acceptable. Yes there are a few setbacks, but then again you can solve them yourself! And that is the fun of building with LEGO!
  9. There is absolutely no fun in waiting.... Just get the 8258 cranetruck now. It will give you lots of buildingfun, lots of parts and gears and will get you busy for hours... (And to "feed" your "Lego habit" you'll get the 8110 Unimog anyhow in a few months..)
  10. @ Anio: Subtle as ever. Just be glad we'll get a chance at building and getting prizes!
  11. The polarity switch is easily placed... The rear of the 8070 supercar couldn't get any worse so I didn't look for a better place to put it....
  12. Thanks Blakbird for writing the review. This is my biggest letdown too. (any ideas on where to put the pole reverser?) Well, did some recoloring.... So take your pick in different colors... I build the model yesterday and had buckets of fun building it. A few questions though: What part is the front spoiler that got "lost in translation" from the preliminary model? Did anyone els have the same amount of extra parts?
  13. @ Erik Leppen: In the set itself they are just the regular ones..(TLG might have just forgotten to draw the ridges...) The 16t regular gear is the new and improved one though..
  14. And what a nice job Barebos/Barman did!
  15. My copy will hopefully arrive on saturday.. . Can't wait!
  16. Yesterday my BL and Lego-direct orders arrived. None of them were correct. So you have to wait another few days to see the final version.. For now a little detail; but i will get this project finalized!!!!!
  17. Thanks Grohl! This is one great alternative! I especially like the pneumatis on the "grasper"(or whatever it is called.) If this was the real set I would have bought it for sure, now it passed me by...(with no regrets btw)
  18. One of the changes that I would suggest to TLG is that the AFOL's will have their monthly winner also! There were some really great AFOL entries in each category that giving them prizes as well would be a great plan!
  19. @ Rien: An other (real) moped would be a great idea! Maybe a puch maxi?
  20. Next friday my webshop (in the Netherlsands) will be sending the set off to me! just for €95,00!!! Can't wait!
  21. Asnoot-full of exhaust? Don't think so. The engine was a little wonder of fuel-saver and had almost no exhumes! And most of all: The MOD's (Here in the Netherlands they were fans of The Who, The Small Faces, The Golden Earings etc etc...) driving it and being a "MOD" was cool! They didn't mind! (remember we/they weren't all that old-farts like the person in the picture) BTW: driving a real Solex is one of the greatest experiences you ever could have!
  22. I'm not the MOCking type; I'm more of a collector and MOD-er. But a few weeks ago I had a bit of an idea. In the sixties and seventies these means of transportation were very popular in Europe. The Solex! The Solex a bicycle that has a small 49cc motor mounted above the front wheel. Power is delivered via a small ceramic roller that rotates directly on the front wheel by friction to the tire. I've been trying and by trial and error i first came up with this 1st Prototype: I wasn't quite happy so I redid the front fork to a thinner model These changes came to the 2nd prototype: Now I'm waiting for some parts to get to a final model. (The handlebars need a little change and the wheels need to be dark-gray and some other minor color changes...) So please leave your comments and as soon as the parts arrive I will disclose the final model!
  23. And why isn't there a possibility in the poll with: "I got my set years ago"?
