  1. "I... I don't know if I can. But I intend to try. I think I will be a paladin, if you can show me how."
  2. (OOC: Okay, I really should've posted by now. Also, I find it ridiculous that it took me two days to write this.) Throlar sighed, "A lot, I'll try to cut it down to the bare minimum but be advised it'll take a while." "Recently I've had cause to think about the first few quests I undertook as a member of Heroica. On my first quest, the one in R'kilf, I killed three people, one in a fight I was responsible for starting and two more who were drunk at the time in self defense. In addition to that I also lead several fighters into battle against the Pongcanis bandits that had taken over the town, a task I was not prepared for and my choices lead to several of them being killed. These are actions for which I felt the need to punish myself somehow. I was given a task to complete by lady Calaryl of R'kilf as some sort of penance for my actions but until recently I have not been able to complete it, and to be honest it didn't seem like enough. A later quest brought me to Babeleth, that one was also a complete failure, as you know already know considering that you and the other veterans were the ones who sent us on it. And you also no doubt had a hand in it's failure." here he stopped to briefly glare at the man in front of him. "I suppose you know that I had a hand in the deaths of Orokai, someone who I rather liked, and Detraehd Loc, who I didn't like at all. Do you know that I had someone else traveling with me at the time of that fateful encounter? She was a zombie named Nazgulie who was acting as my guide at the time. She died in the battle and I wasn't able to prevent it. And after that was another quest where we had to transport several unpleasant artifacts to be destroyed by the paladin order. That one was weird and nightmarish in the extreme, and the paladin accompanying, a man named Rollinger, was killed in his sleep, within a very short distance from my own sleeping form, in mysterious circumstances that I've been unable to learn anything about since. Now isn't that a charming cavalcade of misery?" "As you can probably tell these things were weighing rather heavily on my mind when I chose to become a Warden. I chose that particular path because I felt that it's protective abilities gave me a chance redeem myself for my... actions, and for my failures, while also giving me a way to, well, punish myself by putting myself on the receiving end of attacks meant for others. And because I'd recently met a druid and I was interested in the ability to talk to animals, but that's not important currently. Anyway, I've recently begun to feel that my choice was a mistake. I often find myself unconscious and unable to help, and I feel that my ability to aid my allies is hampered by a lack of choices available. But at the same time most of the quests I've been on recently have been left unmarred by any further events of the kind I've just described to you. It's given me some time to come to terms with my past. I still want to redeem myself but I recognize that there are better and less self-destructive ways of doing so. I've actually been thinking of becoming a paladin, especially after seeing you help Petaldan become one. Though I don't know who I'd be a paladin of as of yet. Do you think that would be possible?"
  3. Thank you, thank you very much.
  4. (OOC: I'm back now. I'll be picking up where I left off shortly.)
  5. I'm sad to say my reason for not being active these last few days is because my grandmother passed away recently and I had to take some time off for a while. And in response to WBD, I'm sorry for your loss, I think I can say that I understand how you feel.
  6. (OOC: I'm not going to be able to participate for a few days, feel free to carry on without me.)
  7. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Throlar Wineghilm." Throlar followed the ogre down through the sewers and into the massive chamber, stopping briefly to gaze at the massive sculpture that dominated the room. "Well," he said, "someone had a lot of time on their hands." He flinched briefly at the sight of the two people, Walbartan and Hodurr, he remembered from Babeleth. Hoping they wouldn't recognize him he sidled over to the Copper Fox. "Jacq, if that's your name, may I talk to you for a moment?"
  8. "I'm sorry, who are you?" (OOC: WBD, you have Throlar's stats written down twice there.)
  9. "That last move south renders the seven moves east impossible, sorry." (OOC: WBD, I didn't mention it before, but the stats you have listed for Throlar are out of date. You may want to check my statistics as listing all of the changes that have been made would take too long here.)
  10. "No one thinks you look stupid. Now, if I'm right we should be fine just moving twelve increments straight west. Also, do you see those alcoves on the west side? Perhaps they could be useful."
  11. (OOC: The red line is incorrect, the bottom end should be one block over from where you have it, and the tenth move should place the guardsmen following it back on their starting position.)
  12. Throlar entered the marketplace with 620 gold. He first went to Fabian's, where he sold his Crow Helmet (SP: 1; Flying-type enemies do not deal free hits to the wearer; suitable for Knights and Dragoons; headwear) for 60 gold, his Lion's Plate (Max health +5, Power +1; wearer is immune to weakened; suitable for Knights and Barbarians; bodywear) for 75 gold, his Counterstrike Gloves for 40 gold, and his Nunchaku for 250 gold. Following that he went over to Anwyl's Smithy where he had the opal removed from his Mopagsaber for 50 gold before selling the Mopagsaber for 60 gold, leaving him with a total of 1,055 gold. Following that, he had the opal and the amethyst removed from his Elven Shield and imbued them into the Unicorn's Horn for a total of 200 gold. In addition he had his newly freed opal imbued into his Weathered Shield for 50 gold, and Upgraded the Unicorn's Horn to WP 9 for 90 gold. With his remaining 715 gold he purchased; x2 Tonics, x1 Grand Tonics, x1 Elixir, x1 Phoenix Essence, x2 Nostrums x1 Soma, x2 Mulled Wines, x1 Ambrosia, and x1 Myrrh from Portia for 515 gold. x1 Sleep Bomb, x1 Seal Bomb, x1 Blind Bomb, and x1 Confuse Bomb from Dain Almight for 200 gold. At the end he was left with 0 gold.
  13. So many unexpected returns, so many.
  14. Throlar briefly stopped, gave a quick salute, and then continued on his (hurried) way.
  15. Throlar couldn't wait around any longer. Wether the demon took the proffered items or not, Throlar ran after Karie and the others.
  16. "What the..." said Throlar, following the other's gaze into the sky. "Oh." he exclaimed upon seeing the approaching dragon, "Dammit." "Okay, this can work. Thank you." he said taking it. "May I have those? They look promising." Throlar, deciding that the time had come to leave, grabbed his weapons and followed the others. Throlar briefly skidded to a stop and offered Germ his Floral, Air, and Lightning Bombs. "Here, see if these will help!"
  17. "Here, take it." said Throlar handing him the axe.
  18. "I find that Shako interesting, if you don't mind." "Thank you." said Throlar, taking it. "By the way, as long as we're handing out items would anyone here like to use my Fellcrest Hand Axe (WP: 8; deals bleeding 5 on successful hits; throwing weapon) or my Shattering Arrows (x4-lowers enemy SP by ten points, suitable for classes that use bows or crossbows)?
  19. "I agree, we ought to deal with our supplies as soon as possible." Throlar briefly glanced up from his task and caught sight of Germ, noticing something on his person. "Excuse me, but would you mind lending me that Unicorn Horn staff you have?"
  20. "Thank you." "I was actually planning on volunteering anyway, there are some things I'd like to talk about with the Copper Fox." Throlar looked around at the bodies lying around the bar, shook his head sadly, and began looking to see if any of them were still alive.
  21. "I suppose you're right, but I don't feel comfortable with it all the same." Throllar turned to face the latest arrival. "You know," he said, "it seems a bit silly to point out the obvious, but you're vastly outnumbered here. You may want to leave while you sill can." Throlar uses diplomacy on the Watchman Guard from the front row.
  22. "I'm certain someone did, and some of them definitely listened to me."
  23. Throlar shrugged. "Well," he said "I tried. Goodbye." Throlar prepared to leave with Karie as soon as the smoke bomb was dropped.
