  1. Looks like you'll be using spindles! That way you could add a figurehead, though I'd agree it looks better without
  2. METROID's (#33) INN was my favorite, and shall recieve my vote. The cannon foundry was a close second though...
  3. Depends if my armament is large enough I like the ship! Is it supposed to be a MOD of the IFS? Yours looks like a shortened version of it. EDIT: Oh yeah, the playability aspect adds a nice touch!
  4. I really like your ship (even after already seeing it several times) When you create a folder on brickshelf, you have to wait a while (Until a moderator approves it) before it can become publically viewable. And what are you getting organized?
  5. I think you ought to make the walls on the bow a brick, maybe 2/3rds of a brick, shorter. It sticks out like a sore thumb, and that's usually the figurehead or the sterncastle's job Everything else looks F A N T A S T I C !
  6. Austrailia did too like "New South Wales", same story in both places, they're of english decent! dur!
  7. marconi sails Exactly what I was thinking... What is this bow mod of which you speak?
  8. According to Wikipedia, they didn't, until about 30 minutes into the battle when the Countess decided to ditch the Serapis
  9. My bad. I was thinking more of privateers. But now that makes a bit more sense. In the Battle of Flamborough Head, the british were out-numbered 2:4, though THEY were the ones being attacked, isn't it a rule that they must retreat if they are outnumbered 2:1 or something like that? Edit: the british were accually outnumbered 2:5 also, the HMS Serapis had 44 guns, the Countess of Scarborough had 20, the Bonhomme Richard had 42, the Alliance had about as many as the BR, As well there was the pallas, the vengeance, and some other schooner-of-war, whose gun count I am uncertain of, somewhere around 20, 15, 10. Anyway, you can see that the british were greatly outnumbered. I'm sure there's got to be some kind of rule of when to retreat.
  10. I really like the one with the yellow background. It looks a lot like the Beagle...
  11. They weren't quite larger or more heavily armed (in amount of cannons, not size of cannons). BUT, they were most definately faster and stronger, even though 99.5% of all american frigates were privateers. I'm not sure about the rule that british weren't allowed to attack american frigates... I'll have too ask my trusty friend Google about that one...
  12. ME too! The idea is 99% based off a drawing of the acual steering mechanism on the HMS Beagle. It's been 12 days since I ordered my bricks, so they should be arriving in the next few days, and I'll have a nice big hull update once it comes in. P.S. Happy Saint Patty's Day!
  13. I'm not entirely sure. Either it's because of region, or just plain luck (I don't have any) Could possibly be because at one time TLG used a different material, then changed it.
  14. I can't put my finger on it... but there's something I really like abou tthis MOC. Good job!
  15. Good to know your still sane! That particular figurehead sounds familiar... What's with this: ^^? You do it in a lot of posts... It's a tough decision between solid wall, and spindles. though i'm a bit more on the solid wall side.
  16. You sadistic person! In this case, that's a compliment The MOC's OK, the story helps a lot. Good job!
  17. Sounds like you ought to be done with construction by the end of this month! You might try and have solid wall "railings" on the bow, like on THIS ship, and maybe lower the bow a bit. Any Ideas on what to use for the figure head? Edit: I just realised you cant lower the bow
  18. CGH is right, when making a reply, don't use thier pictures unless you plan on pointing something out in them. As well, the desired text should go in between the color things, So it'll look like this! I'm glad you've liked my MOC so far (though currently it's more like a collaboration of tiny mocs) I hope to get the hull done soon, though it's unlikely it'll finished by the end of the month. Currently I'm trying to find a good way to do the figure head.
  19. 1. I do think this topic is a good means of debate, though rather one-sided, and therefore should be kept 2. I don't think mercenary even is a TFOL, let alone an AFOL judging by the way he's acting 3. I've been on a (very informational) tour of legoland, and there I learned that many sets undergo several months of 'work' before they are even considered to be released, even in a small set like Krackin Attackin'. There is a lot of hard work put into everything they do at TLG. I know lego, (maybe not as well as you) and it seems that the pirate sets have been focused more on 7-8 year olds, with the exception of the IFS, which seems like an attempt by lego to extend its appeal even more to the teen/adult group. 4. I like Sweet Baby Ray's!!!
  20. wow Wow Wow Wwwwwwooooowwwwwww WOW wow.... wow. I'm having a hard time coming to words WOW Edit: It is...
  21. Love it, but please PLEASE PLLLEEEEEAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!! resize the pictures to a max of 800x600, since that of course is in the rules, AND your killin my computer.
  22. Does that answer your question? LOL, I'm joking Great MOC! I really like the flippy top. You could just flip that back and forth and never get bored
  23. If anyone wanted the torsos, here's Darwin and Fitzroy
  24. Well, I'm true to my word, so here they are! Also I made a setup so the steering wheel will accually work. Here's the prototype: And remember, feel free to comment!
  25. Sounds good I've been working on a prototype for a steering rig lately, though it's rather tough for me since the rudder isn't even done Though it works really well! The only thing I need to do is make it shorter and it'll be perfect! Here's the prototype: And here's a shot of the 'mechanism': I could easily make it only one stud high, just by using 1x1 round bricks. You can see more when I get around to that area on the Beagle (I guess I might want to post instructions later on too, but I'm still working on the hull, so there's no need for me to get ahead of myself) Anyway, the rope system to shove cannons in and out of ports sounds rather complicated, any pics? I'm also itching to know what that VERY SPECIAL RIGGING is...
