Ahhh... Model kits... Expensive... but worthwhile. It helps a lot with teaching you the basics of rigging! I'm guessing the Unicorn will have some nice ropework...
-
As well, you might want to move the main mast forward a few studs... I like the overall design, though it resembles the BBB quite some, and the cannon ports are far to close to the water

What happens in the end? Do the reds and blues become best buds? Or do the redcoats seize the opportunity to overthrow the blue coats?
-
I'll see you there! I'll bring the Beagle too, though I'll have no idea who the hell you are Tis a shame tha Brickcon isn't quite so popular as all the other lego expos.
-
Might I suggest including a girl in the story line? Might spice things up a bit... Also, if you don't mind I'd like to include myself. Could I possibly be a white coat?

WIP Teaser of an American Frigate

were you talking to me or bejuane? -
No complaints here! Very nicely detailed! I like how you used the skeletons for so many different applications... The bridge design is very innovative as well! Can't wait to see it complete! P.S. One quick question... Do you plan on keeping the buildings open so you can see inside?

WIP: Achille and Guerrière, French Frigates of 28 guns

a nicely ironed bed sheet works just as well, and is less expensive -
Did you think of doing custom figs?

can I do twenty questions?

I just had a new idea! A PotC contest! The mocs are based off a scene from any of the Pirates of the Carribean movies...
-
Hmmm... Are ther seperate dios for Lexington and Concord? The 'battle' of lexington was fought on a forest green. The BATTLE of concord was fought on the edge of the city of concord (I might be mistaken, but is that a bridge you are building? As in the north bridge?) Anywho, Lexington and Concord seems like a good idea! (though I personnally would've picked one or the other, since they were staged some ways apart) I'm sure you've read up on this, but I don't see much resemblance to either location so far. Guess I'll just wait and see how things turn out. Good luck!

Do you know if downloading a patch will overwrite this mod?
-
So... It has to be based on a real battle? I was thinking of doing a vig with two ships broadsiding each other... maybe the battle of flamborough head would work...
-
I thought you meant minifigs... but that's accually not a bad idea! A battle contest! Do you mean video or pics? EDIT: I just realized there already is the "bayonetts at dawn" contest...
-
You do realize your the only person with 1600 minifigs...
-
Done! That would be really nice if lego introduced one REALLY big pirate set... something bigger than the IFS. I'd buy it! Though I still wan't them to keep their existing quality (no cheap chinese plastic) Legos are already more expensive than they ought to be. Why should quality be compromised? The diversity between all the different sets in each line is also really nice, and should be kept.

I guess it's narrowed down to a 'build a ship' contest... (next time around we can go with your idea Joey) @ armenderez: He didn't say build a frigate or build a replica, I was simply narrowing down the types of ships. If we are going to do a "build a ship" contest, we'd definately need more than 3 weeks. Maybe more like 2-3 months.

Try and read more closely... Saxons are German
-
How about some thing more like "Build a galleon", "Build a sloop", "Build a Frigate" (sound familiar?), and possibly "Build a replica" A stern construction contest is also a nice idea As far as I know, there hasn't been any piratical minifig customization contest. A Tournament of retribution would also be nice, or some alternative like Joey proposed If I had to rank each contest by how much I'd want 'em, I'd say 1. "Build a ship" 2. "Piratical Minifig Customization" 3. "Tournament of Retribution" (or alternative) 4. "Sterns"

Well, I had to make sure everything was accurate, and made measurements for pretty much every other brick in the cross sections.
-
I didn't think you did mean any offence. The Beagle is smaller than all the other minifig scale ships going around these forums, so it's acceptable to think it's not, though I've done at least a hundred measurements in order to make sure that it is minifig scale.
-
For the millionth time!!!!! It is minifig scale!!!! (accually it's slightly larger than minifig scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
-
I was very tedious in the process of making all these cross sections as accurate as possible, though I had to make a couple changes to give it a better angle laterally. But it is still at least 95% accurate, including the spacing. (I used a different camera for these pics, so sorry if they're too blurry) The biggest noticeable difference between the old hull and the new 'hull' is the width. The old hull's orlop deck is 16 studs at it's widest, while the cross-sections' orlop deck is 20 studs at its widest. As well, it is 3 studs longer, and 4 plates 'taller'. Comments welcome!
