The UCS MF is not a limited edition is it?
-
I wonder if we will ever see a Kaminoan? After all they are the creators of the clones. People go mad for some obscure characters that were shown for a few seconds at the Cantina but no one has any love for the Kaminoans.

Looks like George Lucas more than Luke Ep8

I have been following the LSW market solidly for 10 years now and whilst both you and I make assumptions about Lego's business model, etc I can say one thing for sure: if the collectors want something they would buy it no matter what the price. Look at the crazy prices that some of the Polybag characters sell for. The 10221 SSD can't be compared to MF. MF (and Cloud City) have such a legendary status that not many other sets can match. I think you may need to do some research in terms of MF prices because $800 is no where near what it sells for. A bricklinked one sells for around $1200. A boxed one sells for a lot more. There is a reason why the prices are that high. After all if there was no demand the prices would have crashed long ago. Reasons why a UCS MF is highly likely to sell very well? Current huge hype Who would want to miss the chance on a set that is not likely to be re-releassed again for a good 10 years or never The huge popularity of Lego now compared to 10 years ago The huge popularity of auction site compared to 10 years ago The resurrection of Star Wars franchise The huge increasse in number of people that buy to profit in the future

I think we need to bear in mind that statements like these are based on assumption rather than actual numbers from research. A set like this is not meant for the "vast, vast majority of consumers". At all. This is 100% a collector's set and rightfully so. As such Lego don't have to do anything at all special. In fact they dont even have to build an intricated interior. Most of the buyers would be happy for this set to include just the famous room where the characters were playing dejarik. As well as the cockpit. And that's it. Absolutely nothing else. Zilch. Nada. That's all the collectors would need. and it would sell like hotcakes even at $800. This set should not be made for playing. It should be made for displaying. And very likely under custom made perspex or glass dome. I for one wish this set is designed with the collectors in mind and comes with a matching price tag. You want it? Can you afford it? Do you realise its artistic value? Then buy it. Otherwise, sorry but tough luck. You can't please them all. Even if Lego tried. All you have to do is look at this thread. There's always someone here that will whine and whinge for every set Lego has made. Sorry to sound so tough

Wrong I'm afraid. The front page does not get regularly updated. I do like the discussion but what I find annoying is endless pages of people talking sweet nothing. So someone like me whom visits the page every week or so ends up having to skim through 25 or more pages and find just a couple of posts that may be meaningful. You're welcome. I agree with you that it is pitures and rumors thread however in 178 pages you get 2 pages with pictures, 2 with relevant rumors and the rest is tripe. Now, I'm not quite sure how you can consider life same as this forum but on a bigger scale and scarier but then again I suppose if one spends their life in front of a screen it's expected they won't have a clue.

God almighty. We are barely a year into 2017 and there are already 178 pages on this thread. It is becoming a nightmare to follow this thread. I dont mind if it was 2017 set related news but most of it is tripe. One person posts a rumor and 200 others start building conspiracy theories. Most of the rumors turn out to be fake in the end and people forget about it and then some newbie joins up and thinks the rumor is real so they start a discussion about it again. Then the newbie gets shot down by the rest being told that that's old news. Then a new rumor starts and the cycle starts from scratch again. Now and again one of those rumors turns out to be real and the original poster comes back to say "I told you so". And then after about 300 pages we get some concrete pictures and then people go wild and write another 300 pages discussing those pictures: how happy they are, how sad they are, vent about prices in different parts of the world. And then the sets come out, people buy them and then we get video reviews. And this cycle repeats itself. Guys, the SW is fantasy. But there is a beautiful world out there called Earth that is real. Spend a little less time here and a little more time there. You will enjoy life more and so will the rest of us who dont want to spend our life sifting through endless pages of blah. And guess what, very soon all those sets you have been speculating about will be on sale and you can buy them to your heart's content and build them, stroke them, call them precious and whatever else takes your liking. Lots of love,

REVIEW: 71014 LEGO Minifigures - DFB Football Series 2016
legolandia replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
What happened to the Brazil team? After all they are the reigning kings of football. -
I have been wanting a medical frigate for a long long time so this is the nearest i will get to it. A definite buy for me.
-
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you
-
Is there a reason why the set numbers are skipping? For example there's no 75146 and from 75151 it jumps to 75157.
-
I think you are about 200 pages too late
-
Why is that picture under a spoiler??
-
@OP: Man, you have to stop taking those substances before doing a review. It's not good for your health. By writing such a huge review for a set like this you have done it a massive favour. This set is the most horrible Lego SW set I have seen. It stinks of "uninspired" and "making money on the back of Ep7". It is so uninspired that in my opinion Lego should actually take both the designer and the person who's approved it for sale through a serious disciplinary. It is true that we need more landscape and architecture based sets in Lego SW but that does not excuse the release of this kind of junk.

Hordes of characters in CW and Rebels were created after the main events. So what? How can RotS be more canon than CW????

Apart from what Venkefedo said above dont also forget that these are desperate times where Jedi are not as regulated as they used to be. Star Wars has attracted female fans way before Ahsoka was created so not sure where you got that theory from. Plus, Ahsoka has got as many male fans as female ones (if not even more). As a matter of fact I am glad that SW has decided to address the gender inequality in terms of characters. If you have nothing against Ahsoka personally then why spew so much venom against her? Is your male supremacy being thratened?

It wouldnt be very difficult for the brilliant writers involved in Star Wars to come up with some very brilliant ideas to build up Snoke's backstory. In fact I want that to be the case and we get some good new stories. And I am not sure that Plagueis is the only way to top Palpatine. Palpatine is dead and some other Sith lord (Snoke) that has been getting stronger in hiding takes his place. Snoke doesnt have to be stronger than Palpatine. He just needs to be stronger than the potential Siths that may be scattered around the galaxy. In Sith history the student becomes more powerful and/or cunning than the master and that is how they manage to overthrow the master in the first place. So I'm not sure your last sentence stands true. And finally why do people make the assumtion that Snoke may be Plagueis? It is as plausible that Snoke could be a fallen jedi knight turned sith. Or he could belong to a Sith faction that doesnt believe in the rule of 2 and so on, and so on....

The January wave seems to be quite a weak wave composed of small sets. However this is quite a good strategy from Lego since it allows people to give their wallets a break. I am very much looking forward to the next summer wave and particularly the UCS releases.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
legolandia replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm afraid you are being very pessimistic and judgemental. What does "Disney Star Wars dominance" mean?? Star Wars is and always will be Star Wars no matter who owns it. Probably safe to say that Disney will be the owner for a very long long time. Lego SW sets belonging to old stock will be discounted so they sell fast and make way for new sets. They have already been discunted. Likewise here in UK there have been a few 10% - 30% discount offers already. Even a couple of sets from the January wave (that came out a bit early) have already been discounted. -
They all make sense. Palpatine was both representative of Naboo and directly responsible for the war there, Watto was on Tatooine when Darth Maul went to chase Obi an Qui Gon ..... and so on...

Speaking hypothetically: I agree if that happened they would sell out within a week. However the majority of the sets will be bought by speculators whom would then try to flog them on ebay for double the price. However do not forget that if that were to happen, it will very likely upset quite a lot of collectors and fans and their public image would suffer too. I dont think Lego would want to go down that route. What would make more sense is for Lego to crunch the sales numbers for the other large SW sets such as SSD in order to try to calculate how many potential sets it may sell. Then they should double that number (considering that it is the MF we are talking about). That way they can be guaranteed that they would sell quite a lot of sets and there wont be any disappointed fans. Speaking realistically: £750 for a Lego set? It's a huge amount of money. It's double the price of the SSD. And considering that it will probably weigh twice as much I think it would be safe to say that not many people would buy it to play with. The majority would probably but it for display purposes. In which case it would make more sense if the interior was not as detailed as usual. This would keep the number of bricks down, the weight down and the price down. Lego should aim to release a UCS MF that costs around GB£500 which would make it more affordable and would help to sell more. People keep saying tht £500 is not realistic and achievable and they give reasons why. However it seems to me that no one is thinking about the fact that production costs have gone down compared to 8 years ago (Chinese factories, increassed capacity, better building methods, etc).

If you were that bothered about spoilers then you would have booked a ticket by now to watch the film in the cinema. Quite frankly I am sick and tired of seeing post after post hidden by spoiler buttons. I could understand people complaining about spoilers when the film was not releassed. However now that the film is releassed "jerks like you" need to stop whining and moaning (because nobody "gives a rip about it"). It is the Lego Star Wars thread which talks about sets linked to the new film. Thus it is reasonable to expect that people would talk about characters, ships and plots from the new film. If you are that bothered go and watch the film.

£50 for that pathetic excuse of a set? Seriously? It looks like one of the Lego designers could not be bothered to use their brain and decided to throw something together at lunch break. It may be cheap compared to other sets but it is wayyyyy too expensive for what you get.

I have to admit that Matt Smith is the worst doctor ever (in my opinion). In fact it is he whom made me stop watching Dr Who and even Capaldi hasn't been able to get me back into it again. Tenant and Christopher Eccleston are the best doctors so far. However I am definitely buying the set though
