  1. Thank you very much for the review. Well detailed and the pictures are brilliant. 5/5 I agree that this set is a must have at least for the hardcore collectors. And it is surprisingly well priced, especially considering the large number of the minifigures. I admit that I feared it would be above the £350 mark. Pleasantly surprised. I've gone ahead and bought this set. The free lightsaber set is a bonus as well. In the UK that word is a slang for sperm.
  2. Hasn't it always been the case? You are either an AFOL or a kid or both. What's in between?? I think this is very promising and applaud this move. Many AFOLs have been saying that they have been struggling to keep up with the 3 waves per year and that most of the stuff releassed in those waves was fodder. Lego was gradually pricing out many fans fromt he SW theme. Prices have been getting extreme. Personally, I primarily collect the Lego SW minifigures and the UCS sets as well as some sets in between. The dumbing down of the sets in intricacy and price means that I will be able to continue to collect all the minifigures without beign heavily penalised financially. And I can continue to buy the UCS and other major sets regularly. The lower prices come also at a perfect time considering that the world is gradually entering recession. I think it is a forward looking move from Lego. On that note I am particularly happy with the Cantina UCS set. Beautifully detailed, Excellent pricing and Lego has finally given us so many new minifigures in one set.
  3. Whereas i hope that it will indeed be $350. Because considering how many pieces it has and how many minifigures it has and the fact that most of those minifigures are a first and how famous the cantina is, I fear that Lego might charge more than that.
  4. Well, this puts my mind at rest a little. I've bought the bacta Vader from a French seller on ebay. Very decent price.
  5. 73 means 73 sets which at £120 each works out at £8k. On top of that he does not have 73 sets for sale either. There has to be some counterfeit problem here, surely?
  6. I have been looking to buy a Vader (bacta tank) from set 75251 because I don't want to buy the full set. I have noticed on ebay a couple fo people that sell multiples of this minifigure (one guy has 14 and another has in excess of 30). This has left me a bit puzzled and suspicious; are these guys selling fakes or are they actually mad enough to buy 15 or 30 sets and split them??
  7. I like the recent Stra Wars mosaic and the fact that you can combine 3 sets to create a big one however the price is extortionate. £300+ for a full scale Vader is ridiculous. If they go on sale I may get one but otherwise I'm not touching them.
  8. Not sure if applying the price per piece on this set is appropriate or accurate since it consists pretty much of 1x1 studs. I absolutly agree. For me it is a shame since i have enjoyed seeing my minifigure collection grow year on year. But at the way prices are going I'm not sure I can keep up any longer. Generally we tend to get quite a few sales from 3rd party retailers but this year is going to be tough since offers seem to have disappeared (and not just on Lego). Are you trying to build your post count? Amen to that. I have been saying the same for a long time. But sadly it aint going to happen in the consumerist society we live in.
  9. A quick question about set 31200. It says you have to buy 3 of them in order to build the large Darth Vader display. Is that all you can build? I mean 3 sets (£350) for just the large Darth vader? That sounds a bit expensive and excessive doesnt it?
  10. Well, no matter how much Lego puts prices up or cuts donw on pieces there will still be plenty of suckers who will buy them. No matter how much people whinge an whine they always end up buying in the end. Not necessarily. It could be designed so it is long an dnarrow like the previous Mos Eisley cantina set.
  11. Does anyone know what has happened to the Star Wars comics? Have they stopped completely? Will they ever resume publishing them again?
  12. I do believe that. The ISD has had a 15% off at JOhn Lewis twice in the space of 3 months (one just before lockdown and the other a couple of weeks ago). Well, if Lego was expecting the ISD to sell as hot as the MF then they were very much mistaken. The MF is an iconic ship and nothing else can outsell it. You can't release the ISD straight after MF, just slap the same price on the ISD and expect it to sell as well. £100 less and it would have a chance. It depends what you mean by UCS. They wouldn't sell well if they were priced above £350 for large models but I bet they would sell very well if they were made in the size and price of the recent £179 Tantive 4 set. That Disney is a money grabbing machine is a well known fact. There are documentaries about Walt adhering to that philosophy. So no need to mount a defence. You underestimate the buying power of people in their 30s. You also forget that a lot of people that started with the main trilogy actually do like PT as well. Likewise, I've already got the MF and ISD.
  13. I dont understand why. It's the uggliest ship in the SW universe Venator for one. And there are plenty of Trade federation ships which havent ever been releassed. I am hoping that eventually Disney will see sense and move on from the current timeline of the movies and releasse new movies 1000 before or after the latest trilogy. That would open up an opportunity to design plenty of new ships and merchandise would boom. Considering Disney's appetite for money I am surprised they havent figured this out yet.
  14. Can these sets be seen anywhere yet?
  15. I agree. The first 8 episodes were just a money spinner with no substance. Yes, exactly. Lego is well aware of the fact that minifigures do sell the sets quite often so it has a strategy in place using minifigures to maximise sales.
  16. The price has jumped by £30 from the previous model and you call it reasonable?? No wonder lego keeps putting prices up. Never gonna happen. If they did that Lego will see a drop in the sales of sets. A lot of people buy the sets for the minifigures and Lego are well aware of that.
  17. Why the panic? None of those sets are limited editions so you have a full year to buy them. And if you are patient you can get a nice discount as well.
  18. Since when has logic had anything to do with what Lego decides on Star Wars themed sets? There are plenty of prequel vehicles that could have been releassed (or re-releassed).
  19. Do we know when they are coming out in UK?
  20. I'm surprised. There are so many more better ships to bring out as UCS. I'd love to see a large size, SW themed, Lego mosaic in ancient Roman style. perhaps with several layers to give it a 3D effect.
  21. No rush my friend. We have many years ahead and with Lego releasing 3 waves per year there will be plenty of opportunity to empty our wallets time and time again. Or not if we dont like. That may be the case but as long as people vote with their wallets Lego will eventually get the message. The only problem is that there are plenty of LSW fanboys out there that will buy just anything. Plus Lego is a multi billion company and they have no real copetition in their market.
  22. That shows even more clearly that they are desperately trying to capitalise on it. A pre-order with a 6 month lead? Lego have never done that. Smells of desperation. Really? I thought they were a charitable organisation. Read my post above...
  23. Just checked the lego website and it made me laugh to see that they have been quick enough to releasse the The razor Crest and The Mandalorian and Child sets. Never missing the chance to make some quick money, capitalising ont he success of The Mandalorian series.
  24. I still stick by my original opinion that Lego have recently flooded the market with poorly made and highly priced sets and Ihope that Lego slows down a bit. I'm sure they would do a lot better if they released less but better thought of and executed sets. I remember, not so long ago, when many of us anticipated with excitement the yearly wave of sets and most of the time we were not disappointed with their quality and content. That nostalgia is becoming stronger now.
