ok, so what you are saying is that you don't like the fortess because it is not realistic... not because it doesn't look good.well, as we know, LEGO is hardly realistic... and that doesn't stop me from liking their other sets, so it doesn't stop me from liking the Flying Ninja Fortress either :-P ;-) -------------------------------------------------- in any case, that last structure is 8-

Historic MOCs/Themes Inspired by Movies
Brick Miner replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
yes, SW seems to escape my definition of an uninspiring movie, doesn't it ??? however, i think it is one of the few to the contrary. even the batman movies don't make me want to re-create them. however, the official line is quite good. there are a few movies that make you think, but again... they don't make me think about building LEGOS :-D 2001 is great (love kubrick's directing) and Forbidden Planet is another mind-bender (probably my fav of all time). -------------------------------------------------- BTW, those GIJoe toys are pretty cool Brickster, too bad you didn't hold on to them. that reminds me of old toys i had growing up... i would have totally forgotten about them, except i see photos of me playing with them as a kid. so glad that i at least have the photos. great memories *wub* - BrickMiner -
i have to ask... why did you make these, when LEGO has provided us these uniforms already ??? i don't see anything wrong with the official ones ??? just curious ;-) - BrickMiner

Wild West: Ghost Town Images "leaked" (UPDATED #3)

some might find this interesting... i have produced artwork for Hasbro Toys company (i.e. Transformers, GI joe, Nerf, etc...) :-D i wish, my check from hasbro totally around 1000 USD :-D - BrickMiner -
both of those qualities are what make the structure appear so well crafted :-D i mean, when you can achieve balance in something that is asymetrical, you have acheived "art". anyone can make something that is symetrical a balanced composition *sad* ... the trick is to do something clever, some thing asymetrical ;-) - BrickMiner

Historic MOCs/Themes Inspired by Movies
Brick Miner replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
movies aren't very inspiring. they leave nothing to the imagination. i mean, you get it all... pictures (that move), talking, dramatic music... they leave little to challange the imagination (as far as interpretting the story). they are too EASY to enjoy. see, when you are working with few resources, you mind needs to be creative to fill gaps. that is when the best creative work happens. when things are easy, it becomes more like a robotic assembly line. too manufactured, which is what most hollywood movies are today. however, somtimes the concept of the movie is inspiring. i have been inspired by countless movie posters !!! a single image is much more powerful in motivating creativity. yor mind fills in gaps, gets excited and starts thinking,... CREATIVELY 8- -
ooohhhhh.... chills rund down my spine. the curse of Ghost Town is upon us !!! that is how these horror movies always start,... strange coincidences :'-( :-P thanks for the info Brickster, i'll have to look that movie up ;-) Miner

more Ghost Town scary stuff *skull* -
chewie's response was the most intellegent reply in this thread. obviously an intellegent person when it comes to guns, their power, and their safty.because of that, he does't seem too "scary" to me. -------------------------------------------------- oh, and to clarify on my "traditions" idea... 1) imagine, you live in a family that you are pround of... your father was a good man, his father was a good man, and his father's father was a good man. your family has done productive things in the community. and your surname is something you are proud of... you respect your father and his lineage. 2) however, your father has a gun, his father has a gun, and his father's father had a gun. 3) why ??? because of the circumstances during the birth of the USA. the country was born out of common people fighting for their land... not drafted and given a gun and put into an army. they had to fight for their door step. and they did so by using the gun from inside their house. 4) now, for the government to come in and outlaw guns would be to say that your father and your family is wrong, or unconsitutional. but your family has always owned guns, and you have always known your family to be right and good. they are not unconsitutional !!! our goverment cannot come in and say that the families that founded it are unconsitutional. there would be riots !!! people owning guns in their home is what founded the USA, and that eventually could be our demise (however, i strongly doubt it). its what our people have always done, it is our way of life, our tradition. that is what i meant by "tradition." - BrickMiner

ah, sleepy hollow, that makes sense... i haven't seen any horror/western movies. i do remember seeing this movie poster at the video rental store back when i was like 9 or 10 years old. and although my mom showed by Friday the 13th movies when i was that age (and other slasher films) *y* she never found this one interesting, i guess :-D could that be the one you saw ??? - BrickMiner

ya, i notice you don't have mine on there |-/ ;-) oh, i've seen those before... your cave dwelling is very acturate !!! at least from what i can tell from one of my trips to arizona (where i was able to visit montezuma's castle.)great stuff !!! - BrickMiner

hey now, i did have the idea before visiting EB...however, i must say that your MOCs have influenced me. your idea of a singular (or main) villain (ghost rider in your GT) did inspire me to create a singular villain of my own. it was a great concept, obviously inspired by adventurers (and their "natural" villains), right ??? you will always get credit as the creator of the original Ghost Town, B *y* - BrickMiner

oh, ok. for some reason i read your post in a "complaining" voice :-D my mistake :-$ - BrickMiner -
it looks like the Mystery Machine :-D

i think the ninja line is pretty consistant with previous LEGO lines, as far as how many closed or open sides there are in a set. there are always three... front, left and right, right ??? all the fortresses above seem to have three closed sides, except possibly the largest fortress. i mean, just as much as WW, adventurers or pirate buildings (ships excluded which are fully 3D). oh, and you have to exclude fort legoredo too ;-) one of the only forts to have four sides (had to add that) X-D i'd be interested to hear what others think on this topic !!! - BrickMiner

do you not believe in resurrecting old threads ??? that is interesting, cause i think its a good thing. not that this thread is a good example, but its better than creating duplicates ??? - BrickMiner -
i went back and checked BrickFactory instruction scans after i read this... hmmm... the towers are pretty weak. but i think the appeal to the set is the overall shape of it. its a really pleasing composition. the details might not be the best, but the shape is very pleasing. reminds me of a modern city skyline, which can be a awe-inspiring sight. this set has that same powerful feel. but what do i know, i dont' own any of these :'-( - BrickMiner

yes, i agree with all of this... i DO know !!! i hope you understood that i was only joking about the "relationship" thing.i've actually been sick the past couple of days (coupled with light-headedness from a high fever)... as a result, my posts have been a bit more "spunky" :-D ;-) gottcha ;-)

i don't know what Ross is. i presume its a toy store, and hopefully not your friend's name... otherwise this line is just >:-) :-D :-D :-D i know i always go to my friend's house looking for good deals too !!! :-D :-D :-D in either case, i think you got the five-finger-discount !!! - BrickMiner -
and thanks for the BS search 007 !!! i agree. i mean, the name "ghost town" (which referres to an abandon mining town) is such a perfect translation into a HAUNTED abandon mining town *skull* it just has to be done. -------------------------------------------------- Those were most likely mine. X-D well then, i'll have to get past my "i don't like to read" thing, and get to reading your MOC* !!! i notice there is quite a bit of text. does your MOC go through the whole book, or would i just get fractions of the story ???*having pictures will help, it'll make it more like a comic :-D :-D :-D - BrickMiner

yes, khorne's story sounds familiar... but i think you are referring to this thread apophis do you listen to korn?. and actually, that was one of the replies that inspired this thread !!! - BrickMiner

WILD WEST sets wanted, high prices paid !!!
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
HELLO jamtf !!! thanks for the reply !!! and thanks for checking your western (WW) sets for me. check this out... i would never have believed this, but a toy collector that lives about 30 minutes from me heard i was looked for NEAR PREFECT copies of north american versions of these sets. well, he drove down and came to my house with almost every western, pirate, and adventurers (desert) set !!! it was an unbelieveable find !!! AND IT WAS IN MY HOUSE !!! however (unlike how he was advertising) a lot were not NEAR PREFECT. none had price tags (which is huge for the collection im trying to put together) but some had surface wear (most was pretty minimal, but im picky). anyway, i picked up all the WW sets, and my SEALED in MINT-box collection is now only missing 6769 !!! i wish i had money for his pirate sets also ;-) and surprisingly, some of his adventure sets were overseas versions *wacko* so i didn't get those. -------------------------------------------------- in any case, if you enjoy these sets, definitely check out the History & Adventure forum. me and a couple other members try to keep the WW a close (and dear) memory *wub* - BrickMiner -
well, my models are the minifigs themselves !!! but as for creating them from scratch. yes, i do that. i've actually just created 4 for phes and the pirates !!! when i first started making these heads, i was doing them for my MOC, Gunsligners Saloon. a couple of wanted posters appeared in the set as stickers. one poster featured the crook head, which now appears in the Train & Town skin. i never would have imagined that when i was creating it !!! in any case, these first two heads took me probaby and hour to make... now i can make a head in about 10 minutes. those pirate heads took me about 1/2 and hour for all 4 !!! - BrickMiner
