Behold Jet Rocka (was just randomly browsing for pictures from the Nuremberg Toy Fair) What a strange contraption.
-
Aanchir just posted that on the last page; it's obviously true, at least in some part. It may not be the foundation for the sets of 2014 (for a variety of reasons, namely the fact that the book in question comes out later this year), but it will definitely be the next chapter in Ninjago's story. And wow just wow, how could I have missed that very blatant confirmation of sets? I need to step up my game, I can do better than that. XD

That's good to hear; I wasn't aware of those posts. Obviously it's not definitive, but it's pretty good evidence to the fact that we'll be getting more sets at some point. Thanks for the information. :D

This is kinda what I had assumed by Ninjago "continuing throughout the year" - continued story media without sets to support it. I just hope that isn't the case for all of Ninjagp's supposed "return". We wouldn't want another BIONICLE situation. :P The premise of that graphic novel sounds pretty interesting. I'll probably try and pick it up at some point.

Any chance I could get in on this? :D

My thoughts exactly; I'd be ecstatic if that was the case, but I doubt it heavily. :P

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Mesonak replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
We not only got a good deal of pictures, but multiple videos showcasing pretty much everything except a few themes from several groups on YT like Atamaii.com. While it's not as widespread to the general public as the NY Toy Fair, we should get a look at most of the new sets in some form. However, last year I don't believe we got any Superhero set coverage due to possible Avengers spoilers (didn't see pictures of the sets 'till NY, if I recall), so it'll probably be the same this year. -
Pity about the London Toy Fair Coverage - we always get the short end of the stick every year. :/ Oh well, get hyped for Nuremberg! ALSO, thought I'd pass this along - . Hopefully some people find it enjoyable. More parts coming soon. [/media]

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
Mesonak replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Yeah, good point - we don't know with absolutely certainty. It's just a pretty safe bet considering the whole video is littered with prototypes. -

The unique ones are final, the generic ones are prototypes. -
It is literally impossible for there to be any more sets released this year; that phase has come and gone, and we've heard nothing about them. We'll either see more Ninjago sets later this year when prelims leak for the winter 2014 waves, or at Toy Fair this time next year - the place that stated that the "battle would continue throughout the year" didn't necessarily have to be referring to sets. Could be another filler season of the TV series, online media, books, etc.

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
Mesonak replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I concur. Not that I wouldn't mind some bley armor, but I think it works best on people like Bruizer who are meant to look "rocky" - not on gorillas. (If you want to get picky Gorzan doesn't look remotely like his minifig self either, just like Razar - Gorzan's black and blue.) -

I always assumed that as well; looking back on them now, they're free of confidentiality markings, so... perhaps they're not. Either way, I hope the sets remain as they were in the first image. Laval and Cragger lack several of their awesome recolors in that video. Gorzan looks interesting. LOVING the banana-belt, even if the actual set is just a Hulk retread with better (albeit blander) colors. Razar's a little hard to get a good read on; looks like they went waaay overboard with dark red (not that I'm complaining) to the point where he doesn't even resemble his minifig self... lol. Glad we got this video; there's a wealth of interesting info in it relating to Chima in general, so it's very welcome. -
I am, as always; Toy Fair's pretty great, and I'm hoping this year will be the same. I'm hyped like you wouldn't believe to see the Chima constraction figures; they're my main source of excitement considering we've pretty much seen the HF sets, more or less. :P Also, those are some pretty awesome banners. Love Ogrum's and Breez's.

Aw yeah guys, our favorite video series has returned!

Was pretty underwhelmed by what I did to get to see; looking forward to seeing what I didn't (most of it). All I have to say is - that voice acting. No more needs to be said.

I thought that vid was pretty ingenious TBH - quite entertaining as far as reviews go, but pretty strange as well.
-
Exactly. That's why I can criticize any number of sets from BIONICLE or Hero Factory, but at the end of the day, it's really not a huge problem because you get to make your own solution. One of the reasons why I love Lego.

I dunno, Pyrox is pretty cool as far as sets go. Couple flaws here and there, but no worse than Bruizer or Ogrum. Pyrox has got the short stature, oversized face and a couple weird color choices. Bruizer's got his gimmicky arm and strangely asymmetrical design (which some would consider positives), and Ogrum's got some oddities with his hands in regards to fingers (like one hand having three fingers, while the other hand has none), open ball joints on the arm, and his mace is kind of awkward to pose at times. They're all still great sets at the end of the day though. They just all require a little bit of tweaking if you want to maximize their potential.
-
Oh yeah definitely; if I made a claim that the arm being posable was impossible to achieve if you intended to fix the function, I apologize, because that's grossly incorrect - I know because I did it myself. You simply replace the technic bean at the end of the axle with a ball joint, which you can then attach HF limbs to. The point I was really trying to get across was that the function did not contribute enough to his design to make up for that semi-awkward arm attachment and the jumbled mess in the back (which I didn't even address in my post). How I "fixed" Bruizer's arm connection was that I attached a size 5 grey technic beam to the top of his back torso going sideways, which a Glatorian neck is attached to. Bruizer's arm, which consists of two upper arm/leg bones and ending in the really small "extender" bone piece (not the friction joint, but the other one of comparable size that ends in a ball joint). To address your other point, you're definitely right that it doesn't really improve the look of the arm in any truly meaningful way, but my method does make the arm able to be posed in ways that make the arm look better. Very hard to explain properly; I'll probably take a picture sometime soon.
-
Yeah definitely. If they weren't going to recolor his head to be red, they shouldn't have made the jaw open like it is. :/ He's a pretty awesome set though; his weapon's a little awkward, the gunmetal chest armor has no place (and I promptly swapped it out for black), and the aforementioned head issue is pretty severe. Flaws are insignificant when compared to the positives though. Love the dark reds parts, and I'm glad to hear we're getting a few more.

Honestly not even the most beautiful and well executed action feature (and this is neither) can justify a mediocre overall design in my eyes. I thought we were past the days where Lego prioritized gimmicks and functions over making a well designed set; obviously not (moreso with Scarox than this guy, however). There were many ways they could've done a proper asymmetrical style build without compromising the design at large, and they did not take any of those opportunities. As far as having a function in a HF set, I think they did the best they could as far as implementation into the build system goes, but what it added to Bruizer's design... just wasn't worth it. The technic beam, to me, looks out of place and unfitting for his general aesthetic. If he's supposed to be a guy that's all bulky and carved from the rock, he certainly doesn't look it if viewed from any other way than the side. I guess some can appreciate the fact that he has this hilariously bulky arm that can't move any way except forward while his right arm looks like a twig...? That's not the kind of asymmetricality that I'd consider good, even for a rock monster. Had the arm been built with normal bones, you would've lost out on the "cool" factor of having a function, but really, would any actual "functionality" in the set be lost? Could you do any less with the set if that arm was built normally? Would it harm his overall asymmetrical appearance? Far from it; you could do far more in terms of posing without harming his look at all (kind of similar to my opinions on Scarox, but at least he still has full arm articulation). Don't me wrong, Bruizer's still a pretty cool set and such - the foundation is solid, the function, despite my thoughts on it, is probably the best executed a HF-style function could ever be on a medium-sized set. I made a modification of him that altered both his arms and his legs that I'll probably take a picture of soon, but I just wasn't pleased with the central points of his design. If they were going to go full asymmetrical, they shouldn't have stopped at the upper legs; his lower legs being symmetrical and the fact he's got boots don't really help his "rock-monster" appearance too much, but I have no solid ideas on yet on how to alter them for the better, so they remain unchanged on my version.

And to think, I thought the Breakout site design was a downgrade.... bleh.

Yeah, like Kalhiki said, no clear pictures yet but the video can be found and a couple of renders from the TV special are located here.

Found an extended version of the Brain Attack trailer up on youtube over . All the summer sets are featured; pretty much confirms that Dragon Bolt is a titan (and what a titan he is), as well as Jet Rocka.Aquagon looks like an interesting set, I can spot some possible dark blue armor pieces on his arms, but I could be mistaken. Surge looks absolutely amazing, as do both Jet Rocka and Dragon Bolt (though moreso Dragon Bolt).
