Huge let down… was really hoping the original pictures were a joke. -
Best 3d priter

I have 2 prusa MK3s+ and a MK4 being delivered this week. I absolutely love them. I have printed some technic parts, but I think a finer nozzle than the stock 0.4mm would work better for LEGO parts. I’ve heard positive reviews about the Ender 3 but a lot of people mod them for better quality prints. It’s also a more affordable option. Personally, I’d recommend an ender 3 -

The next contest should be to make a more appropriate 42146. I know this forum has several very talented builders that would put this official set to shame. -

Huge disappointment. Everyone has touched on the problems already, no reason to repeat. -

When this set was first talked about I wanted to buy 2 so I could combine them… now I don’t know that I want to buy 1 at that price point… $680 for a sub 3k piece count set is crazy to me. LEGO prices are getting out of hand. Hopefully these “leaks” are not true and we can buy these without selling a kidney. -
General Part Discussion
aminnich replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Kind of an odd question… but is there documentation that would help determine real LEGO technic from all the 3rd party stuff. If the piece has “LEGO” printed on it, it’s obvious, but I’m either finding official stuff without a marking or finding 3rd party. Not sure what I’m looking for on some parts and/or how to sort it. Thanks!- 5,466 replies

@amorti @brunojj1 @artic13 thank you for the comments. I have not built anything with the parts yet, but the visible quality was what caught my eye, specially some panels looking really thin and cheaper. I’ll give it a shot, but I think my expectations are too high since I’ve only ever used official stuff in the past.

I have a couple of questions as I received a few Cada models in a collection I purchased last week. Are there retired sets? If so, where can I get a complete list of models? I am not a huge fan of non-LEGO models and plan to resell Cada plus the other brands so it does not get mixed with my stuff. Do you think selling as sets or individual pieces is best for this? Cada does not have a huge spare parts store, so that’s why I think I would better for doing that. Overall, what are your thoughts on Cada? Should I sell it or just keep them in their own bin in the back corner of the basement? 😂

Not sure if this is a great place to post this… but this seems like a great deal depending on condition. Pretty incredible collection https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3312831525631414/ -

I got done reading that… and then went to Facebook. The fake model popped up as an ad. How is that legal?! I bet LEGO got word about the fake and said screw that, we aren’t releasing this. Im sure the LEGO designers aren’t too happy about these third party guys. -
Generic Contest Discussion

TC11: the battle bots had a 45x45x45 bounding limit. I remembered that was in a “stored” position. I’m not sure if you will need to be specific like that for this contest. -

I am modifying 2legoornot2lego’s lowboy trailer to move a heavy load. I am having an issue with the suspension on the axle not being nearly strong enough. All axles bottom out right away. In my opinion there is no reason to have suspension if it is just going to bottom out like that. I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations to stiffen the suspension to handle the load. -

I’m curious if you have all of your files somewhere public? -
I have no experience with the cheap 3D printers on the market today. I have read some good reviews about them, but I have no idea what kind of print tolerance it gives. Mine is a mid grade printer, cost about $850. It prints really nice, but it did struggle on the small LEGO stuff. I have to mess with the program and settings to try for a better print in the future. If you are looking to print really high tolerance parts, I don’t know that I would recommend a cheap printer.

So I bought the printer in March and decided to mess with printing custom-ish LEGO this past week. I printed part number 6571 without the extra ball joint. I modeled it in SolidWorks and printed on my Prusa MK3s+ using Hatchbox filament. After printing a batch of 20 "good" parts... I found a mistake and will be reprinting.

I think if you are changing other components to be more to accurate to the real machine, the overall width of the model should be changed. But if you are able to get more machine components into the model with the extra 4 studs of width (more accurate ripper movement) then I think the extra width is justified.
