The newer themes look too juniorized
alex54 replied to Nonpoint Fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The city sets from 1997 to 2001 are the best example of a <insert that tiresome argument> line, so :-X ! They look so simple, without any interesting part to build, and no playability. They are not construction toys nor toys. I'm hard, but I really dislike those years! And maybe the nostalgia makes the difference between classic sets from the 80's and 90's and the new ones, which are really detailed and nice designed for me. I think one reason is how TLC makes its catalogue. In fact, with the old ones, the scenaries were really nice, you dreamt on nights and nights, you wanted all the line for having the same thing than on the paper. But now, we don't have this... and it removes charm with those new sets. But with th new city port line, we find this charm again... Way to go TLC! -
Yep! For my city mocs, it's with stund, because stundless need a lot of tiles that I don't have, so... :-D

I just have the 6338 hurrican harbor. I find it really nice, with those 3 vehicules, the map, the little octan station, and the dolphin...
-
Totally agree with your two points. I think that TLC could do a better work with Avatar. the medium diorama sets would be a good way to have some good sets in term of size and not too expensive... And also some good part packs for other themes like history, castle and city...

It's not a mater for me. If someboy understand, the fact that we write LEGO, Lego or lego is not really important, even if normally we have to write it LEGO. And for the plural, I don't know how I write it...

I like your firestation, even if it looks too red for me. I really like the idea of a practice tower (one day, when I was in a train, I saw one with firemen who were working on it, really impressive...)

7775 Aquabase Invasion Review
alex54 replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Like the others, excellent review! I like to read a serious reveiw, and the story which shows some bad and good points of the set. And this so poor monk, heu gorilla! I really like this set, and I find this squid the best of the AR creatures (even if I don't have any of them yet... :'-( ). I like your flashback in the story, with 2D fishes, and other details :-D ! Divers *wub* And it's alwas funny to read some french on US LEGO boxes (for Canadians), when you know that we don't have words on European boxes, exept for the age. Really nice review, thanks! And your story could have been longer, not a matter for me, on the contrary! -
In fact, it's really easy, (It's always easier when you know...) but really nice idea!

This Hogwart looks better than in the firts pic. I really like those new hair-pieces, those details, and the greenhouse! My poor wallet...

And it's worth when you don't have your bricks with you :'-( I'm working on the 2007 version of my city. I want it more different than the others, with an all new road layout. I don't want it bigger, but more condenced, with more shops and some new houses... I just hope I will do this before 2008...

I prefer the yellow version. But it's nice to see how it looks in red. For info, the airport fire truck were never red in LEGO. And I think it's good, because you can distinguish it easier from the rest of the fire vehicules. In fact, it's a special fire section for the airport. I've got this set, but I prefer my old 6440 *sweet*

Pic Review: Aquaraiders Shipwreck

Thanks dill for those reviews. Like Yoda and Brick Miner, I need two of this shipwreck, one for my AR collection (which I need to start... :-D ) and one more for my city. Like I said before, it would be a nice adition to the Divers line. Can't wait to see some AR sets in a shop... -
Very nice modern style for your hospital PaulC! The fact that you use some tile in front of the windows gives it a pure and smooth aspect. Simonwillems, your race layout is like in the old LEGO catalogue :'-) Casewindu and Cityfan, can we have some global view of your city please?

The white one too... Nice city
-
Me too :-D City the best forever! And I think that 2007 will make the increase better, or the same level, with all the nice sets we have... Just hope that it will motivate TLC to give its customers some decent lines for the next years
-
Thanks, haven't seen them before too. With what we can see, we hope some more civilan city sets... Maybe in 2008, because 2007 is good enought for city news! Heu, no! we don't have enought new city sets in a year :-D

I don't find this hair piece so special. I mean, I don't see why we couldn't find this hair piece with other women in city sets. This hairstyle is not too stylish for me. In fact, I see a lot of young ladies (thanks university canteen) with nice hairstyle. But I don't think that we will see this piece a lot, cause TLC seems not to like womenfigs...

You can find a lot of those :-) face in the community worker city sets on s@h. And yes >:-) , city is the more traditional line today :-D
-
I think it is brick build...
-
Just nice job BrickMiner, with all the details, this forum has, like others, it's own universe.
-
Yes, it's sound very very bad... I just want it! >:-( Please TLC :'-(

Ok! I will try to have one this saturday...
