Back at it again. Was looking at some of the awesome work of Pierre Normandin and got inspired. Used the design of his Tow Truck to make a Day Cab Truck. Here we go: Cheers!

I believe is was Christmas '88 or '89 and this was waiting under the tree with the windmill set built: My dad said he was up all night putting it togehter!

To add to this, ParLUGment meets once a month, usually the 2nd Monday. Most of the members are in Ottawa, but there are a few located in Ontario, US and overseas. I haven't been to a meeting in a couple years as I had to move for school, and now my job, but I still keep in touch with what is going on with the group. For more info on the group, their website is http://www.parlugment.org/index.php Lots of pictures from past shows and displays. If anyone has any questions, don't hesitiate to contact through the website, or myself here on EB. Cheers!

It's in Mississauga. Hurontario St. & Eglinton Ave. There were 5 or 6 more left when I was there. Also had the Repair truck as well. Which ones were you at?

Inspired by my Pickup Truck a couple weeks ago, I decided to make an Fire SUV. Take a look: Lots of room inside for accessories! The happy Chief and new addition. Coments welcome! Cheers

I just picked up this set today at TRU with a nice 20% off. Also got 7567 (they only had 1!) This is definately a great set to add for a city layout. It's nice to see the car base included in a set again. The last time it appeared was in 4513 and the re-releases of 10036 and 10059 (2003-04). I am overall happy with it. I think it looks like at Smart, and the new minifig is a must have. This set is a multiple-buy set for sure. That means when a purchase is made, this will be thown in as well because you can never have enough vehicles!

Yes, I believe they are supposed to be wheel chocks to ensure that the trailer doesn't roll forward or back!

All I can say is what TLG is pumping out now is WAY better than the town sets they were putting out in 2000 & 2001. The juniorization totally turned me off of Lego, and contributed to the Dark Age I had. Give it 10-15 years, and the sets that are comming out now will be classic City Sets. They aren't classic yet because they are new. Don't get me wrong, I think the classic Town sets are classic, and deserve their place in Lego history. I grew up with them and there is nothing like a classic 4-wide vehicle, but it can't be named classic if it has just been released. I think TLG has taked huge steps since the debacle in the early 2000's, and I look forward for more great City sets coming down the pipeline.

Thanks for the review! I can't wait to get my hands on this set. I, however, like the trailer. I think it is well proportioned to the tractor, and gives the look of a semi with a 45-53 foot tanker. I do agree that the holes could be filled on the front and back though. I also like that TLG is adding some realistic looks to the new models, like the brake/lights hookup on the back of the cab. I would also add this to the top of the tanker to finish it off. Hopefully I find this set in stores sooner then later!

What made you get out of your LEGO dark age?
legomaniac83 replied to BearHeart's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had a "Dark Age", but it didn't really last that long. I'll start at the beginning. My first set was in the late '80s when this was waiting under the Christmas tree: 550 It took my Dad all night to build and he was so tired on Christmas morn. The price he paid that got me hooked haha A couple years later, that Christmas was a doozie with these two great sets: 6540 6393 From then on, I was hooked, buying sets when I got allowance, brithday, Christmas etc. It was until I hit halfway through high school that my Lego hobby went downhill (1999-2002). Maybe it was the "juniorization" of most themes, or girls, cars, etc. Not that I didn't care what Lego was making, it was the fact that so many things were going on, and that what Lego was putting out could have been much better. But, I still had the magazines coming, and still went to the Lego aisle everytime I went to town. It wasn't until my 1st year of college that I started to get back into it, or come out of the Dark Age I guess. New city sets were starting to appear, as with some Star Wars (not really a big fan though....), is what got me hooked again. Plus finding more and more of the sets on eBay that I wanted when I was a kid fueled the fire. Here I am now, although my buying has slowed down because of more schooling and paying off loans. Still love the hobby, and I wont leave it behind. I have not had a year without Lego for Christmas, and my Father has got me the biggest Technic set every year since I started collecting again. I am close to the 500 set mark, and that will be a nice milestone. It's a great hobby and a great community around it. If it wasnt for great sites like this, I wonder how many people would still be in their Dark Age. It was only last year I found my Holy Grail I have chased since it came out. 5571 Black Cat Truck. Bought it for $100 with box, manual and stickers not applied! (Missing a couple pcs, thank God for Bricklink!) I still can't believe it. It's nice to read the stories on here so keep them comming! -
Only 10 sets away from 500! Got these two on Wed:

I have 2 sets, both from the same year (1984) and both won on eBay for cheap cheap cheap. Won 6655 this past summer, and got 6882 about 5 years ago. This is ironic because I just parted out the 6882 this evening to add to inventory! Cheers!

Thanks for all the replies everyone! Ralph - I agree on the tail lights, they look much better, and glad you approve! Ricecracker - I thought about the gap, and tried a few things, but did't seem right. Might be the fact that this is used for the base: 52037. And I just might look into WHACKOLUG.....I am a member of ParLUGment in Ottawa, but haven't been to a meeting there since my relocation. JayDuck - I never thought of those 2x3 tiles, and I do have two light grey ones from set 1253. They look much better. Keep the comments comming!

I decided to go back to the drawing board and re-do this truck. I did not like the back and I agree that there was too much space between the wheel-well and wheels. This is the end result! I have posted the trailer before, but here are the pics again: Cheers!

Great topic! I have estimated my worth through what my sets are getting eBay, and set cost. I am close to the $10,000 limit if not over. I own 488 sets (my 500th will be framed and hung on the wall! haha), which includes around 775 minifigs, and over 85,000 pcs. Insurance is a great idea, and when my collection was at my parents place while I was in school, it actually did not cost anything extra to add it to the existing policy. It was just noted on the policy that there was a $10,000 Lego Collection on the property. I just had to send an Excel sheet with all the info to the insurance company. I would highly reccomend getting insurance on your collection, especially if it is somewhat large.

Thanks for all the replies! And your right 5150 Lego, I was going for the "long box" look. I acutually had the axle moved up one stud, and then two, but then the wheelbase looked to short/rear end looked long. If you look at the new 7206 set, I think that 4x4 is way to short. But I think it resembles the standard 8 ft. box quite well.

A nice review for that set. It reminds me a lot of 6511 Wish some of those promos would end up on this side of the pond!

I think this set looks great, and can't wait to add it to the collection. I would of liked more "drawers" or "opening compartments" on the driver side though. I think something needs to go in the empty space there. Thanks for the review!

I moved to a new place a couple months ago, and was finally able to bring my collection along with me. It was at my parents place for the last 2 years because of lack of space. So what better way to celebrate than to build a new MOC! It's a 6 wide Pickup Truck, something that has been missing from the lego line, really. Let me know what you think: I decided to make a back box for it as well. I think it turned out great in the scale. It looks perfect towing my car trailer MOC I made a while ago! If you are looking for the new 3221 Yellow Truck, I spotted a picture of it today here. I am super excited.......

I have a few MISB sets I have bought over the years. Most of them are doubles or triples I find real cheap, and just keep them sealed. I am also all about opening and building, but having something sealed and finding it down the road is a neat feeling. Here's a couple:

Great MOC! As a drummer, I can personally say I have never thought of this! haha

Yeah, I guess it is a bit bigger than mini fig scale......My initial start point was the very back of the trailer, and it grew from there. I agree on the cab. More color changes is a must. I am currently separated from 95% of my collection right now, so when I go home I try to pick up what I need. Can't wait until I am finally re-united with it again! BTW, there is actually 18 wheels on the completed model. There are 8 on the back of the tractor and 8 on the Flatbed. Just hard to notice in the pics. Keep the comments flowing. Great to see what other people think!

V-LC-04A I put this together a couple years ago. Just took some pics of it today. Let me know what you think. The trailer is finished, but the Tractor has a few bugs. Will probably re-create it in the months to come. Enjoy!

Thanks for the great replies and glad you like it! I never thought of a SNOT way to do it, and I think I can even get a better arrow that way. I did take the "middle" 1x1 out and it does look a bit better. If I can get a good result with SNOT I will update it.
